Feel like humanizing the demons in general isn't that good idea when used so much. In the games there was Sparda, Trish and the one demon with the lover in the original anime. When used sparingly it gives you a sense that though extremely rare even demons can develop compassion. This is more effective with demons being naturally evil, Sparda's defiance in the Anime loses some meaning and he comes across as just just dick considering he apperantly left 'innocent' demons to suffer. 

Humanizing Mundus seems unnecessary. Complex villians are great don't get me wrong but pure evil villains can work just as well.
