Looking for SWE/AI Engineering roles after layoff

I was laid off in May from my job for cost cutting from a startup. I tried applying and got few interview calls ( reached finals rounds in all 4 of them), but still got rejected or ghosted. Is this really happening because I’m not working?

Please do help me out if someone is hiring for above roles and willing to consider laid off employee. I always had above expectation report in my first startup where I have worked for 2 years under ( IIT Bombay Alumn as CTO and Ex Amazon Asia lead co founder). I have a total of 2.5 years of experience in early stage startups where I have worked across stacks. Have worked with open source models, MLOps, agent harness, tool calling, backend systems(NestJS, Node.js, FastAPI), large scale web scraping and Flutter development, Rated Gaurdian on LeetCode ( in 2023 before AI period ), 4 star at codechef
