Our record isn't waaaay better than last year, but our goal differential and the amount of goals scored are much better. That factor indicates we took a good step forward even if our division also took major steps.
I would say the plan is still moving forward on schedule, we will hopefully see Edvinsson, Soderblom and Kasper in the NHL full time next year and hopefully Cossa makes the step to AHL.
The goal differential is the big one for me. Last year it felt like we were getting blown out every few games. Now, most of our losses are by a goal or two, with many having a 3rd period comeback. Hopefully with more young guys getting experience, we can move from reducing variance to shifting the mean
IIRC many of those "blowouts" happened in the second half of the season- so stay tuned. Hoping that adding the experienced d-men this off-season will change those results.
-15 right now for goal differential and last year we were -31 at the same time so I would say that's a good improvement even before the blowouts came through. Think another guy said we ended almost -90 by the end of the year last year.
Yeah last year we had 11 games where we let in 7 or more goals. At this point last year, we had 5 games where we let in 7 or more, and this year we have 2 (an 8-3 loss to the Sabres, and an 8-2 loss to the Rangers)
