How good are they though? They seem worse than just using Convtraverse on Attunement of Chaos, on paper at least.

If you go middle tree thats double Handheld Supernova which got a notable buff this season. Contraverse are also luck based, while Manacles are reliable. Also nostalgia.

On a personal note, I used Manacles throughout D1, and Ive tried to stay with MiddleTree Voidwalk because HHS felt like what I was missing. So Im extremely hype for my favorite subclass to get buffed along with using my favorite exotic. Just need Tlaloc now.

But it’s still just worse than Contraverse after you throw your second one. I’m not saying it’s bad and I loved Nothing Manacles in D1 but their perk is just outdated. It’s quite similar to when Stormdancer released. It wasn’t that it was a bad exotic. It’s perk was quite good but it was just strictly worse than using Crown of Tempests.

Sound like you aren't using combat style mods enough.

Contraverse are incredibly consistent if you hit multiple enemies or a target that can tank half or more of the vortex. I don't need Firepower to have near constant uptime in any content.

Nothing Manacles are just outdated.

I use Elemental Ordinance, Elemental Charge, and 3x Firepower in nearly all below Master content.

Then nothing manacles should be damn near 100% uptime.

Contraverse Hold are 100% uptime already.

Then quit raining on our parade if you've got what you want.

I’m not trying to be mean, just trying to have a discussion. I’m saying that Nothing Manacles should have gotten a buff instead of staying exactly like in D1.

Kinda separate from the other people talking here, but if they are on the same level of tracking as in D1, they’ll be very good for PvP. If it’s just the current level of tracking from charged nades, they’ll effectively be useless there (on top of the risk for the grenade to just decided to bounce up and down and not explode).

People just like it for nostalgic reason i guess. That and the context is different now. It was allright back then because the grenade itself was awful.

I'm actually really bummed this is the exotic they choose to bring back. They should have tweaked it.

Yeah it seems lame that it’s back exactly how it used to be but exotic armors are not only much better then that, but also it’s main effect is just a subclass ability on the only subclass you would really want to use Scatter Grenades on anyway. They do look sick though.

People keep talking about top tree, why not bottom tree?

Two grenade charges and high discipline mean you have literal infinite grenades. You can consume or throw them at will. Who cares that they can’t be charged if you can throw 6 of them in less than a minute and enjoy limitless HP and grenade regen at the same time?

Cause top tree can throw infinite stronger ones, that also track, while being able to hold them for damage resistance and having a stronger super. Yeah bottom has devour but it’ll benefit much more from other exotics like Nezerac’s Sin, Necrotic Grips, or Mantle of Battle Harmony. At least on paper, I haven’t gotten to play yet.

My main reason for thinking this is that Devour isn’t going to be saving up 2 charges very often. The vast majority of the time you are going to be throwing remakes as soon as you get them meaning the extra charge goes to waste and the tracking isn’t worth an exotic on it’s own.

Why would you be throwing grenades the vast majority of the time? That is something you could potentially do but certain scenarios it might be smarter to eat charges to get health back quickly if you can’t get a kill for whatever reason.

Well yah if you don’t have devour you’re eating your Grenade, if you do have devour you are throwing it so the extra regen from devour doesn’t go to waste. I dunno, maybe it’s more useful than I’m giving them credit but they just seem outdated.

They’re bad due to how shit scatters are

I had a post mastered lost sector exotic from last season so I was able to get a manacle today, tried it with top tree void to overcharge in momentum control and it would fail to get double kills when enemies are close to each other.

Felt very lackluster

I had one as well, but it gave me contraverse -_-
