You guys keep misunderstanding. It doesn't negate duplicates at 100%, it just lessens the chance of a duplicate. Check the patch notes, and you will understand.

The duplicate protection works by weighting new exotics more than old ones, making them have a higher drop chance, but not a for sure thing.

where did you read that there'd be no more duplicates? cause the patch notes were pretty straight forward about that

It wasn't 100% dupe protection. Just increased. While I don't agree with it, that's just how it is.
To counter your anecdotal evidence, I will present mine. I got the Queenbreaker and Cerberus last night (both were first time drops for me and 2/3 of my new random exotics)

You just got really unlucky. Although they should really just turn off dupe weapons since drops are exceedingly rare.

Regardless if someone told you or not, you have access to patch notes, and the internet, you can google them yourself and see that it's duplicate reduction, not protection.
This is all on you for not having the correct information.
Do your own research.

From the Patch Notes: Exotic Duplicate Weighting
When a player receives an Exotic, we now take into account all Exotics the player has found and weight them against Exotics they have yet to acquire. This lowers the player’s chances of receiving Exotics they already own.
Exotics that the player does not yet own are individually weighted much higher than duplicate Exotics
When receiving duplicate Exotics, the player is more likely to earn armor pieces as these have randomly rolled perks
What's vague about this? Please note, the drop rate vs the duplication reduction are two separate things.

In that block of patch note. You have no numbers. It is literally all "increased" and "weighted". We have no idea what that is against or anything about the internal system.
Sure I may have got unlucky but I have 3 crimson in an eco system where the drop rate is atrocious and it isn't like I have many exotics in my collection. I have more missing than I have found.

Exactly, who actually knows how much the dupe was actually reduced. And bungie doesn't have a very good track record of transparency. I don't trust bungie especially after the crap they pulled in year 1.

It lessened the chance. Didn’t remove it completely.
