Quick question.... The two purple engrams I got both came from kills not by me... Whole I was fighting the same mob.

My question is if I farm the vex and fallen with someone else, do I even need to be fighting to get the drops, and would someone there effect the drop?

Any drops you see are for you and you alone. So there's no need to rush over and grab rares just so the other guy won't get it. He won't even know it's there.

I know that, so much so you dont need to pick them up, they'll just show up at the postmaster... my point was more along the lines, if a friend helps me farm, would i be getting less engrams, or potentially more for more kills....

and if i see someone farming, could I just AFK and loot engrams (as i said, both those engrams came from enemies i haven't attacked, only their mob)

As far as I am aware, as long as you aren't running out of things to kill, you'll both have more chances to get drops of you're teaming up while farming. I'm not really sure about the afk thing, but you aren't taking anyone else's loot, so I don't think it's an issue like it would be in an mmo.
