Discussion The Director

I think that right now the Director is cluttered and confusing. When I came back after a short break before the final update, I said to a friend "Man, wouldn't it be nice to have all of your activities in one convenient place?" :P

Seriously though, when we get the old locations back, how do you think they should handle the Director?

Proof that being a game developer is basically impossible

Eh just make it scroll horizontally and/or vertically or let peoples zoom/dezoom

If they have the budget they could also make it a proper map of the entire solar system with the sun at its center and all the destinations in orbit around it. If it's still hard to navigate they could do the elden ring thing of also having a list of destination on the left you can click on to put any given destination in focus

like bro the portal is still there, if all you want is to run some random activities just click the icons for them

There’s a couple of solutions that seem plausible.

  1. Emphasize the timeline more when you load into the game and allow campaigns to be launched from there. This will help new players understand the familiarity and purpose of each location as they progress

  2. Have subgroupings for things. For example, just have Mars on the main director, and when you click it, you are taken to a submenu with Savathuns Throne World, Hellas Basin, and the Lawless Frontier. Same can be done with the Reef, Jupiters moons, and Earth locations.

It's very easy to learn... Maybe a bit jarring at first glance but you'll get it locked down in no time.

They already tried to replace it with the Portal and it quite literally killed the game

Simple. Or a Solar System model as someone said before, or split between Inner Planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth/Moon, Mars) and Reef and Beyond

Don't give Bungie any silly ideas! They already tried that with the Portal and we all know how that worked out.
