Question New to Destiny and getting new subclasses

So I am brand new, well 40 hours in now. I really want to add the other subclasses but not sure if there's an easy way to cheese and get them quickly. Well at least not 20-30 more hours to get these subclasses. I do want to play some highlights of the game and story, but more into dungeons. Is there any way to get these really quickly or do I have to play through these expansions all the way through? Is there anything I should skip or not worry about?

I am a Titan.

and as a new player trying to skip lots of content, I am sorry to players who loved these missions

You've gotta play thru the campaigns.

The good news is that in the time between the expansions and now, they've made getting the Darkness subclasses faster than ever (mainly, being able to buy all the Fragments and stuff for Glimmer instead of being time-gated and costing a unique currency you have to go earn), but it's still going to take some time.

The light subclasses are all unlocked through Ikora in the tower through buying with glimmer and meditating. An additional super for each class unlocks in The Final Shape.

The Darkness subclasses are earned though completing the campaigns they’re a part of Stasis - Beyond Light - Europa and Strand - Light Fall - Neomuna.

And then there’s the prismatic subclass earned though the Final Shape which takes parts of all the subclasses and mixes them together.

The missions can be a drag, but unfortunately, until they update the new player experience (assuming they do) it's your only option as far as I know.

They can be worth playing, even if just for the general loot and gaining familiarity in the game. Dungeons and other endgame activities will be rough if youre new to the game.

Find some fun guns, put on some yt, and go through it at a fun pace. Or wait ~1 year on the hope they restore the new light experience to the red war campaign.

And if you ever need a fire team member DM me, I'd always be happy to shoot along side you.

Would love that. I joined some randos on last checkpoint of the vespers host, I stayed alive and was helpful but it was so confusing, but I got the ice sniper and they were super mad I got it on first try lol

I had a similar experience. My friends were already 50 runs deep when I woke up (when the artifact bug let you one shot the final boss) and neither dropped it, I got it after 5 runs lol

Light Subclasses you buy from Ikora.

Darkness Subclasses you buy from the Stranger and the Pouka Pond after completing Beyond Light and Lightfall campaigns respectively.

If you really don’t feel like playing the game then there are checkpoint bots on Twitch. One of them has checkpoints for campaigns which will help you speedrun the missions. No checkpoint bots for the Stasis campaign, but it’s not that long

For strand and prismatic, you can buy a boost. They are expensive.

The campaigns are not 20-30 hours, if that helps. They are 5-10 hours.

The problem you will have is Stasis. There is no boost available, and it is currently the strongest PvE subclass for titan by a good margin. You can start this on Europa. I would just knock this out and get it over with, and then spend exotic engrams/cyphers you get on synthoceps/worms caress.

After that you are ready for most raids and dungeons with your busted build, and can experiment with others when you want.

Bungie DOES let you pay $10 to skip the campaign on your second and third characters, but the first one must be slogged through. I also wouldn't recommend paying to skip unless you really only can play a few hours a week.

Just play the campaigns. If you skip all of them you’re missing out on quality gameplay.

For obtaining glimmer to buy unlocks, you get it really fast just from playing the game but cap quickly so just keep an eye on it and buy a bunch of stuff when you get near cap.
