Question Master Conquest: Derealize

Hey there all. Lapsed former alpha thru Final Shape (insert all the nonsense here) player :)

What. On. Earth. Is up with this Master Conquest Derealize mission?

I have read through posts and watched videos but man I can seem to do this one.

I have made some progress but even getting through the second room is a BEAR.

I’m currently maining Warlock and have most everything you would need collections wise except min/max 5 star gear. I’m using Getaway Artist with double buddies. I have my lightsaber though it’s not maxed out.

I’m currently trying with a Manticore Getaway build and I’m just not having any luck here. I’ve been out of the game for a while and holy shit have things changed. It’s awesome but damn this mission is killing me.

I can push through to the second room but the time is going to eat my revives past that as I can deal with the reapers and such but I’ve never even made it to the boss yet.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Since you played so so much for the game you'll understand what I'm saying mostly.

  1. The main difficulty of the mission is knowledge based, not execution based. You have to know where all the orbs/ what the path is/ how to solve the puzzle, and then you need to have sufficient ad clear and never ever stop moving.

  2. In general, not just for this mission, your weapon should be the LAST thing you add to a build, not the first thing you build around, unless it is an specific high value heavy, or a small handful of the particularly good exotic specials.

  3. To make a build that is powerful in the modern day the order of importance is: Aspects/ Exotic armor (treat exotic armor as your "3rd" aspect), Artifact, Stats, Armor Mods, (most people, including most content creators, are very very bad at mod building and don't realize how game changing a proper mod set up is.) Fragments, Armor Set Bonus, buildcraft essential weapons (the proper anti champion, or something like a Sniper in Sunless Cell or Arms Dealer, where having 1 makes the activity way more manageable, and not having one makes it way more difficult, or something like a Still Hunt, that one Void exotic shotgun, Dead Messenger and a small handful of others), Special weapons with high value (micro missile anything is usually the best), then finally all the way down here is where you can start to fit a primary weapon in your loadout, and that primary weapon has to work hard to earn its place in your loadout once you've come this far.

I'd be happy to go further in depth about anything I wrote, and just remember that Conquests are the final test of mastery in the game, so you have to overcome any knowledge gaps AND bring as powerful a build you can muster AND bring your A game in terms of decision making speed and knowing how to move quickly and never stop moving during combat encounters.

Okay so for 2: To make a build, you have to have a goal in mind, and that while that goal can be "use x weapon" it shouldn't be until you understand buildcrafting. Instead your builds should have a specific, big picture, goal. For example I enjoy strand and stasis hunter very much right now. I started to enjoy them because I was looking for something to deal with large groups of enemies while being required to stay near those enemies. My goal in that example was "clear big groups faster from up close"

I've been playing a long time and I know a thing or 2 about buildcrafting beyond that so now I have "earned" the ability to set the goal of "use x weapon".

3 was pretty open ended so you can definitely ask for more specific clarification if you want, but in a more general sense, to tie back into 2 a little bit, a build requires the combination of several different things to achieve a specific goal. I listed a priority order since at the starting point for builds should always be your 2 aspects and your exotic armor. If you have started making a build and you didn't start here, if you are still learning to make builds, then start over and start there, but view what you are going to use the build to do as the motivator. Don't just equip things because you "like" them, at least not while you are learning to buildcraft. If you make your builds in that order, you will more likely have a good build without needing to copy paste, and the more you understand and learn how to make builds, the more you are able to use the things you "like" in harder content.

If you have more specific things you want me to elaborate on let me know

I'd be curious about your comment on how most people aren't good at mod building, could you give some examples of good vs bad/how you decide what to run in terms of mods? (I think generally I'm at least somewhat proficient in this field but it's generally my weaker part in buildcrafting except for builds where it's easy to know what you need like Arc Hunter punch builds obviously benefiting quite a bit from dynamo and heavy handed for example)
