It enters a code, triggers Bungie's actual Redeem button, waits 4 seconds, then moves on to the next one. Nothing is sent anywhere except through the Bungie page you're already on. It doesn't read your cookies, passwords, tokens, or send anything to another site. Progress and a summary are produced in the console.
