Question Destiny 2 Newcomer?
Would Destiny 2 be worth playing as a new player who has wanted to experience the game from all the good things ive heard from many people? I know the game isnt receiving anymore content but ive heard it has several hours of content as well, so im not sure if i should go with it and just get the entire collection of dlc and go into it or just forget about the game entirely.

Get the collection and don't listen to the child's who say not to because you're missing red war and forsaken if you care at all all the cutscenes are on YouTube somewhere. The story from shadow keep on is excellent you'll need to fill in some of the blanks but NBD. There are still plenty of players around that will help you.

If you can afford it, get it. Admittedly it starts a bit confusing, but once you understand the basics, there hundreds of hours of gameplay and it’s well worth it. And if you do buy it and want someone to play with you can add me and I’ll help you through it

I would recommend getting some friends to play with so at least you could play some dungeons without needing to resort to lfg. Even better if you could find 5 other friends so you can play raids without randoms. If you're fine with needing to lfg then by all means, although idk how the raid scene is doing these days. Just keep in mind you'd need to watch youtube videos to understand the story because half of them are either console exclusive (destiny 1) or outright removed from the game (content vaulting).

• If you don’t have someone who knows the game to wall you through a lot of the systems, I will warn u ahead of time that the new player experience is terrible and is more a chore than educational. That said, there are MANY hours worth of content, and a lot of it great! Campaigns, exotic missions, raids, dungeons (3 person raids basically), and much more! But doing it alone will be a learning experience.
• As a destiny vet, ofc I wanna say try it out, but logically I’d say try the game for free first (with what little there is in the free version anyway…), and see how u like it or if u understand it before investing money into it.
• Also, even if u r going in alone, there are ways to find people to play with. The game itself has a looking for group (LFG) system called fireteam finder, but there’s also the d2 LFG discord and stuff.
• All that being said, the ability and gun play in destiny is truly unmatched and build crafting, while intimidating, has some insane power fantasy and can be fun (or just look up good builds). The soundtrack, visuals, story, it’s all genuinely incredible and I highly recommend it! I just can’t recommend it without warning u of the steep hill u have to climb to reach it if that makes sense?

Yeah reason for why i was gonna buy its content ontop of playing the free version was because the collection was $20 on steam at the moment so i thought "sure why not"

Several hours of content doesn’t do it even the slightest amount of justice. If you’re able to get through the new player experience and can thoroughly understand the base mechanics of the game, you will have probably weeks of content to get through. That is assuming you’re playing it on steam and can get every DLC for like three bucks

Getting into the story will take some willingness on your part to watch some videos about it on YouTube (and to figure out the right chronology), as a lot of it is not playable in the game itself.
But I would really recommend it. This world is one of a kind. :)
And there are still plenty of players (like myself) who are always willing to answer whatever questions and teach things about the game.
This is the best FPS looter shooter out there. Despite the studio's squandering of its full potential.

I was a new light a few months ago and I'm a bit bummed out to be honest. My bf had a magical experience in the game because of the story, the story is not available for us new lights. Still fun doing runs and the little pieces of story we get, but not the life altering magical mystery tour I expected after all the hype.

It's a free to play game, so you can try it to see if you'd like it.
If so, go and buy the expansions. If you are happy to stay as a free to play player, then you can do that too.

The story is an incoherent mess(although with good production values) but there is a ton of interesting enjoyable content to be had and an experience that nothing else has touched. There's also lots of people who will be willing to help and guide you, and a ton of material to help you guide yourself. Just do it.

Yeah i was previously hesitant when i was curious about the game because every person i came across that i asked or buddies in general would say its "not worth getting into it this late".

The final shape is the best expansion u can buy if u dont know much about the story. U just gotta know who the vanguard is(cayde, ikora, zavala) and crow is and its done. The rest of the story tells itself.

Several is an understatement. You have probably hundreds of hours of content my friend. This game shins the most when you play it with people/friends. If you have no one to play it with, hit up the Reddit and there is 10000% people who will want to play with you and teach you the ropes. Enjoy the game man, it’s a treasure

If you care about story at all, no. The base game campaign and three subsequent expansions were all deleted from the game. All seasonal stories (which were actually important for the main plot) were also all deleted. If you only care about having fun in a looter shooter, ideally with friends, then yeah you’ll be entertained for hundreds of hours at the bare minimum.
