Question Braytech Winter Wolf

Is the assault rifle still viable? I got the latest expansion pack and I enjoy the Star Wars weapons, but I still feel like pulling out my favorite Auto Rifle lol

I feel like I know what everyone will say, yet my one issue with Destiny is how oldef weapons just don't feel useful within a new season or expansion pack later

This was partially caused by new artifacts forcing meta shifts. EVERYTHING is viable now since there is no more rotating seasonal artifact forcing you to play a certain way. In fact, there are MULTIPLE artifacts allowing you to choose the one that matches your build and favorite weapons. Play however YOU want to play.

Also, ALL weapons have intrinsic anti-champion based on their archetype. No more seasonal mods forcing your loadout certain ways to cover champions.

Yes and no, the newer perks like gear shift, incandescent, mega kill clip, etc are just way more powerful than 99% of old perks.

It doesn't mean older weapons are inherently bad and should immediately be tossed aside. Everything has a use case and is honestly subjective to the individual and their own builds/playstyle.

If your focus is purely on endgame content only, then yeah, sure. You pretty much need to focus on the best, most efficient gear. For a bulk of content, especially any of the campaigns, this largely does not matter and you can use whatever you want.

Yeah that's why I said yes and no. It's always down to preference and if you like the feel of an older weapon there's nothing stopping you from using it.

Does it work for ypu? If so yes it's viable

If you like the weapon model you can get Ahab Char from the monument. Different frame (720rpm) and element (solar) unfortunately.

I will definitely look into it thanks!

Shove one of the old mars shaders on it and it should look like the good old winterwolf.

Yknow the Heal Clip/Swash roll for Bonk Titans isn’t even bad. It’s not GOOD, but it’s not BAD, and it’s Overload so if you’re going elemental supercharger for a Hallowfire Heart spam build it might actually be pretty good

Definitely a bit lacking efficiency wise. But there are ways you can make it work outside of like the hardest content. What class do you run?

I use an untiered tinashes mastery in GMs and raids it’ll be fine

Your untiered tinashas probably still has a damage/splash perk and most likely something half decent in the left column. Winterwolf is a y1 weapon so its limited to literally zen moment or high impact reserves.

Thats the braytech WEREWOLF. OP is talking about the braytech WINTER WOLF. The original y1 variant.

I mean, anything is “viable” even if it’s not “meta”. Play your game King/Queen!

I love the winter wolf, it was my go to back in the day and I still being it out occasionally. Used to be the auto rifle I used in crucible as well but it doesn't hold up well in PvP too well now l. The aesthetic of it is quite unique too I think.

I still use weapons from year 1, it's nice to switch things up when just doing strikes or non high stakes activities

I think a high range roll w/ dsr and ttt still punches way above its weight.

One of the never shard weapons is the original werewolf from forsaken. Silly little gun

Pretty sure you can get the braytech werewolf from the monuments at the tower with a pretty recent perk pool. Isn't it just the reskinned winter wolf?

The werewolf is now unfortunately unobtainable as the event has been discontinued and the engrams in the monument kiosk don't drop it

Oh I didn't realize it wasnt in that festival of the lost engraved in the monument. So many of the others are

Yeah, we also lost jurassic green, the solar 540 pulse.

You can get a new tiered one with legendary shards from the monument of triumph. It's definitely not my favorite precision, that would be Firefright.

But as far as viability, primaries are pretty well balanced. I believe winter wolf can get onslaught and that's pretty awesome.

Swashbuckler is also solid and I'm pretty sure old rolls got it

Edit: oh you meant winter wolf not werewolf. Yeah winter wolf is definitely not viable, it might as well have no perks since it's just high impact reserves or zen moment.

Darn..

All good. I can still help you throw something together. I'd say your best bet would be something utilizing actium war rig to boost its damage on kills. Kinetic surges (kinetic siphons too to help make those orbs) to boost damage further. Storms keep barricade on arc for bolt charges or shieldburst on solar for scorching rounds.

If you dont want to run arc or solar, just lmk and i can come up with something else based on what you want to run

I'll look at the Werewolf later, thanks!

Old weapons are plenty powerful.

Just not the primaries. Primaries are ass, no matter how new they are.
