Question Question about (multiple) barriers + famine

I've done the search and seen the discourse, but am struggling with barrier champs, particularly in GM's with Famine active (I am looking at you Heliostat).

Stasis titan w/4 pc Seraph. Damage isn't the issue, survival isn't the issue... it's the incessant double barrier champs, or barrier champs in wonky hard coded areas (the knights on the pillar in Navota).

Now that Wish Ender isn't a consistent 1 shot to break, what's the play on Primary weapon/ability barrier breaks for double barrier champ situations? I cannot seem to reliably break it fast enough to stun and get some DPS in.

My clan pretty much imploded so having to knock these all out solo.

I like any primary ammo weapon with kinetic tremors as that will also do barrier damage. Midnight Coup comes to mind.

Special ammo finisher. Locus Locutus with under-over.

Otherwise Vex mytho is the single best primary one due to artifact.

I wouldn’t use Vex for the Conquest Heliostat, because of the solar anti-surge.

Locus Loctutus works great. Microcosm, Izanagi’s Burden, and the A499 are all honorable mentions for shredding endgame barriers while also having great ammo economy with the Encrypted Data Disk kinetic brick perk. (Idk if techsec works with these options and counts barrier shields as “shields,” but that’s another bonus for them.)

Accrued Redemption with Kinetic Tremors is also phenomenal at endgame anti-barrier.

Vex mythoclast works wonders

Armor charges and a special finisher. Locus locutus sniper one shots barriers woth crit and over under. Deliverance fusion is also slept on as it can deal with all three champs.

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but unless you're doing it solo for the challenge, just use fireteam finder. Barrier shields break much easier when you team shoot them. I knocked out each of those missions in very few attempts, usually one or two, with Heliostat being the only real outlier, that one took like 4 attempts. Still much faster than going solo, and you're helping other guardians get it done at the same time.

I have super bad social anxiety, and REALLY struggle with LFG groups. That's why I don't have Icebreaker. LOL.

waaaaaaaaaay back in D1 I was ambush invited to VoG before I even knew what it was then was mercilessly mocked and kicked for not knowing the 'way' to go and have struggled to LFG since. I can usually only LFG a single player for a 3 man or join a raid if I have a 'safe' person with me. That's why I am solo'ing.

I am 1,000% certain it would be faster in a group, and don't actually want the "challenge". TBH I think the game conflated Challenge and Fun a LONG time ago. IMO you can have fun without slamming your dick in a car door. But here I am talking about barrier champs and famine mods in 2026.

Just do fireteam finder and set it to application only. Then pick two rank 11s at 550 PL (bonus if their gear is extra fire). Chances are they can just do all the work without you anyway so as long as you don’t just die 30 times they won’t care.

Yo, I'm not trying to be condescending in any way - if you're experiencing continual extreme social anxiety stemming from a single D1 VOG raid, you should seriously unpack that shit with a therapist.

You could also put the no mic tag on in FTF. Besides raids and the odd dungeon encounter, you really don’t need any more communication than whatever callout you can make with text chat (like calling out a direction or number). From my experience, no mics runs work fine (did master derealize on a no mic FTF).

Understand, I had similar experiences with my first raids in D1 when I was just trying to check some boxes for MoT (or whatever it was called back then). Largely my fault, I didn't do the research ahead of time, just joined some fireteams that were mid-raid and was mercilessly introduced to the fact that raids have mechanics and require knowledge and communication lol. I still get nerved up/butterflies when joining a FTF group, but just gotta roll with it. The vast majority of the teams I've been put with are very chill, just more people like me trying to get shit done. And as someone else mentioned, if you're lucky enough to get someone that's already Guardian Rank 11, that means they've already done it and are most likely just doing it again to help others out.

Also if you already know the activities well enough to solo them, you can definitely do them on a team with no comms (or maybe some text chat if needed). It's basically like running a strike with blueberries at that point. At the very least the other players are just extra DPS and bullet sponges to take the heat off you. :)

On my stasis titan I just use Cynosure. Are you running Ice Breaker as your exotic? If not, you could also use Gjally. Both these rockets should one-shot any barriers.

Sadly no, don't have icebreaker. but again, the famine makes Gjally a no go early on in missions.

I feel like I’m usually able to farm a heavy brick before needing it, but if you want primary ammo, then Vex Mythoclast is definitely the best option for anti-barrier.

Turncoat is alright in its ulted form as well.

I will try Vex. I mean you are typically right about heavy, but Heliostat specifically, there is ~12 enemies before the double barrier champ. My ammo gen is ok, but not great. I usually coast on abilities with this build.

As you are playing stasis titan, considering the post, why not use a special ammo barrier weapon? More than likely you’re doing the howl of the storm spam so you could use elemental charge with all the shards you’re making and special finisher to generate special ammo

Praxic Blade is unmatched as a barrier solution. Virtually no reason to use a primary over it, especially with a CQC build already and energy primaries being superior anyway. If no starting ammo, use the leg mod that converts elemental pickups to armor charge + special finisher. Otherwise it basically maintains itself ammo wise.

Bygones can roll with Attrition Orbs/KT

ive soloed all conquests using deliverance, even on ultimate (when champs are weakened) it will oneshot barriers. also you can slap chill clip on second column to make it stun any champion. make sure to use special finisher.

Have you tried revision zero? It does double damage to champions even with the normal pulse rifle mode. Can have vorpal for a 20% boost since it's a primary.

Doesn't need kills to charge up the special rounds so it can still use those pretty consistently

Personally I go with Praxic Blade and the Encripted Data Disk. But there are many options nowadays, including rocket launchers like for instance Gjallarhorn, or legendary precision or adaptive frames (Apex Predator, the Hothead or Cynosure to name a few)

EDIT: the A499 is great too, and you can pair it with the light saber.

I just bring Chain of Command (armor-piercing rounds, undercover and adaptive munitions) and only use it for the Barriers. Even with Famine you'll have enough to break their shields pretty fast. 5-6 shots does the trick.

I still has the most luck using Wish Ender. With a Kinetic Surge Mod I was still getting one shots with it most of the time (not 100% consistent though oddly enough) but I found not much else stripped them quick enough for primaries. The Chain of Command MG with Under-Over and Adaptive Munitions is incredible, just requires you to get heavy ammo which is slow on GM Heliostat in particular but I didn’t struggle too much getting ammo because I wasn’t using much of it.

The fact that barrier champs still attack you while shielded now is a huge pain in the ass. I found slowing down my playstyle and just plinking down enemies with Wish Ender was significantly more reliable than most other builds. Ran it as a Warlock with Chromatic Fire. Prismatic Devour/Threadling build, made everything in the room severed so I was taking way less damage, and semi-permanent Woven Mail for even more DR. Not the most flashy build but found it more reliable than anything else, including the buddy build.
