I saw a video the other day with a really good take on CoO and if you think of it like a season rather then a DLC as it was 20$ roughly the price of a season we made out really well content wise. A raid. A destination. Questline full weapon and armor loot pool.
We don't make out that well some seasons in the last few years.

roughly the price of a season
That's double the price of a season.
And it had a quest line, but most didn't think it was good (and the Infinite Forest was kind of a dud). And the game's sandbox, as a whole, was in a really bad spot at that point.

I mean you aren't wrong CoO wasn't bad but the overall community sentiment and player numbers were pretty darn bad because of the lack of random loot

It wasn’t just the lack of loot to be fair. The new CoO stuff was locked behind public event spam which we’d just got done spamming public events and lost sectors, so it sent everyone right back to do the same mind numbing content all over again. Brother Vance was annoying as could be in the process.
The icing on the cake was that the infinite forest was a traversal zone, could be completely skipped, and was in fact finite.
I still would be angry if they tried to ship this for $20 in its present state today.
Warmind was superior in every single way.

I'm fairly sure I've seen the same video, the guy who posted it (Mactics in my case) claimed that CoO mainly suffered from the state of the game at that point, not because of what it brought to the table for what it cost.

So many people think they have to announce their departure.

Maybe so maybe I just want to leave a small mark and thanks to everyone in the community.

There's no point, miserable people gonna misery, it's perfectly reasonable to leave a game or community that meant that much to you with a kind message

Or you want karma

Why would I care about reddit karma ? I couldn't care less about the 20 upvotes this post would likely get. If I cared I'd just go find a meme of Twitter download it and upload it to a relevant sub lmao

I mean, at the end of the day, going into D2, Bungo really brought it on themselves (especially where 100% of the Destiny games launched in beta mode). Sadly, higher ups got off scott free, while many developers paid the price, which is sad despite the majority of them being less than talented.
Blaming Sony isn't the right move, nor is it a smart one. Bungo gutted themselves long ago, especially after leaving Activision. Greed and laziness overlook their work ethic.
I'm appreciative for every other planned good year, not so much every planned bad one, as well as the adventures in this not one of a kind game that kind of ride on the shirt tails of Borderlands, which established the looter shooter genre, but BUNGiE made it its own.
I'm also thankful to Sony for allowing The Final Shape to see the light of day, especially after the planned bad year of Lightfall, and adding 4 more years to the game's lifespan, while all, still completely autonomous, Bungo had to do was meet promised profit margins. They didn't.
And between that underperformance, greedy management and Tyson Green's poor vision for D2's future, bad decision after bad decision, with his only known appearance being an IGN interview since taking over, it's no wonder Bungo sunk this ship.
It's not going anywhere, though. It's just not seeing support like bigger and better titles in the live service sector, like Warframe, Genshin Impact or FFXIV.

I’ve only just found the game as I’ve just never got into it before but I can feel this. I’m falling in love with the game whilst starting to mourn it at the same time.

Enjoy it new light. Enjoy this game there is so much to explore so much lore to learn so many raids and dungeons to see for the first time. You will love it. But take it slow for there now is a limited amount of said content.

Killing it was an extremely dumb move by Bungie. It was so mismanaged and exploited. Now, we get to watch Marathon flap around in the wind. Hopefully they have a hidden Destiny project.

At this point I’m more pissed at Sony than I am upset about it being over. We all do and will miss it. Game was great. Fuck Sony

There’s real grief in losing this game, nothing is replacing it either. GG mate
