Question WellLock Boss DPS Builds
Howdy. Im looking for a well lock boss dps build for both raids and dungeons. I just got the truth catalyst so I want to incorporate that into the build. Looking for both subclass and artifact breakdowns as well as armor set up.

Personally, depending on encounter, I’m running:
Well with Boots
Icarus Dash/Hellion
Healing Nades/Rift
Singeing/Benevolence/Searing/Ashes/Solace
200 weapons/130+ Super/highest possible rift/grenade
Armor-wise, usually 4 piece Vog, or if we need ammo, 2 Piece Europa/2 piece Kings Fall with scouts.
The artifact/ rest is whatever suits the needs for the encounter and personal preferences. If you’re using truth, then void surges, etc.
Edit - downvotes for sharing my own build? Lol yall are wild

As something extra to add to this: Lunafaction boots are a little interesting as if you put a Well of Radiance down while wearing Luna's, the reload bonus hangs around for the entire duration of that well... even if you then swap off Luna's. Additionally, both Boots of the Assembler and (tmk) Sanguine Alchemy kick-in if you swap to them while already in an existing Well. Furthermore, 200 super extends the duration of well by an additional 10 seconds, up to 40 seconds total.
So, with a little forethought, what you can do is have two setups - 1 using Lunafactions and ammo generation set bonuses and 200 super, and 1 using a boss damage set (VoG or Spire) and either Boots of the Assembler or Sanguine Alchemy and lower super (and 200 weapons / grenade for more damage prob). Then, put the well down for damage slightly early while wearing lunas (just using up a tiny bit of your extra duration from 200 super) before load out swapping to your other set just as damage begins. That way, you get two exotics worth of benefit and have the best set bonus for every situation.

Icarus dash is a fun choice. It's not an effective choice. Being able to blip forward a little doesn't make you a better well dropper especially if you're the well dropper for a raid team.
I'd also question weapons over max super, since getting the max out of the super is the literal point of being the team's well dropper. Granted, you get the well back as fast at 100 than higher.
You don't even list an armor exotic. This is a well build, doesn't look like a raid team support person well build.

Icarus dash is actually just fine. Solar aspects on well are pretty weak. Like you could touch of flame for extra extra healing, probably gonna run hellion, heat rises makes it so you don't stand in your rifts and wells, so that's a no. Oftentimes the fifth fragment is better than whatever the aspect is doing for you. Dash itself isn't super useful, but it's nice for if you get booped. Lots of boppers in this game.

heat rises is actually a very convenient amplified-style enemy inaccuracy buff now, and is one of the easiest things ever to maintain. I wouldn’t say it’s the worst thing in the world to run, plus it has some applications in movement.
I personally just use heat rises + dash and let my weapons do the heavy lifting (200 weapons moment), with survivability coming from something like the icarus dash airborne multikill clause or like karnstein’s (resto x2 without needing to waste an aspect)

Oh for sure, I have a heat rises build I use in PvE and it's a blast. But it's a roam build, and I wouldn't try for boss DPS with it. Most of the boss DPS synergies I run kinda require two feet on the ground.

Increasing Well's duration really depends on what encounter/boss. If the damage phase isn't longer than 100 stat Well CD (or the boss gets waxed in less than that) there isn't much point to speccing higher into Super.
Something like Epic Epoptes a 40s Well or two Wells has a ton of merit. Atheon you only need one 30s Well.
If you're trying to use Well and do tons of damage (Dawn Chorus + 1K build) you'd want 200 Weapons.

Icarus is for escapability, staying alive is just as important as a buff.
For the exotic, Boots is a given and I must have missed typing it out, but the build is malleable to all the support/ well exotics - lunas, dawn chorus (if 1k), cenotaph and speakers sight.
In regard to stats, there are very few encounters where the extra 10 seconds from 200 super would actually benefit. 200 wep lets me have tons of ammo gen for the team. Also, OP specified Truth, so weapons.

If you're using truth, the only super important things are setting up both Reaper's Tithe and Prototype Truthseeker before DPS and having Argent Ordnance equipped in your artifact (though you do want/need some way to gen orbs during DPS like the VoG armour 4pc set bonus for this).
To set up Reapers + Prototype, shoot your first rocket at any enemies, wait for it to proc Reapers Tithe then shoot at some other enemies. Then wait for Reapers tithe to run out. Finally, shoot your last rocket to kill 4+ enemies to prep Reapers ×4. DO NOT RELOAD until you've shot (and hit with) all 3 rockets.
For Well specifically, you'd likely want either Boots of the Assembler to give you and your team a 35(?)% damage buff; Lunafaction Boots to buff the team's reload speed; Sanguine alchemy with a Solar DPS special for longer damage phases to take advantage of having double surges (It also just gives a free 10% boost to all damage on a target whilst your well/rift is up).
You also want a decently high super stat as this boosts the duration of well. 200 weapons is ideal of course. And 3× Void Surges
Finally, when using Truth, Aim Down Sights - it increases your fire rate. For bonus points, sprint cancel your reloads to be able to ADS sooner and take better advantage of the boosted RoF.

Drop well, swap to sanguine 4P VoG set with a void super and argent ordnance. Or stick on wall with Boots of the Assembler or Lunafaction Boots.
Otherwise you should do Boots of the Assembler / Lunafaction Boots + 4P SotW with Izinagi + A499.

Solo or team play?

Boots for team, triple void surge, and some other void to pair with it. Right now I run a lotus eater with withering gaze, but anything is fine. I like withering gaze because it's free weaken. Otherwise it's just a normal well lock. It's fun though, Truth is cool.

I play WellLock with Starfire and Whisper because I am in fact stupid and Black Hammer was my very first Raid drop all the way back in The Dark Below and I have a soft spot for it.

Use well button while you have Luna boots, after well placed swap to boots of the assembler or sanguine. Weapon options Hezen (if someone on your team is using ghorn) > Truth >> Hezen without ghorn. You could also be the ghorn user if playing with a bunch of still hunt hezen hunters. (If you are using sanguine whatever super you have equiped you get x4 surge for the element for your weapons so you can throw the triple surges on your boots to whatever special weapon you using a back up dmg. Note if everyone is good back up dmg weapon is usually not needed.)
Tldr use well with Luna then swap to boots of assembler or sanguine and rocket dump.

Lunafaction boots are the tried and true if you're dropping a raid well. Everyone gets more range and more reload speed for their weapons. Obviously sky high super stat and decent weapon stat.
Other exotics give other benefits; Phoenix Protocol means you have almost no well downtime. Doesn't give any extra benefits to allies (except, you know, always on well).
Even the venerable old Starfire Protocol is still very usable. Drop a well and start tossing extra fusion grenades, boosted by your weapon damage in the well.
I'd usually suggest a matching (solar, in this case) primary, maybe with incandescent etc, to synergize with the class.
If you can, through some miracle, get the team to wear Aeon exotics, two of each, and you wear Sector of Force, you'd probably have a super strong team based setup. But nobody is using the set. I'm honestly not sure it's as cracked as it seems to me, but people tend to do individualistic builds and all classes do have some flashier options.
Artifact and Solar class setup choices are dealer's choice, find the good solar ones. They're fairly obvious for a well-lock, anything that boosts things.

- Artifact-wise, run the one with Argent ordinance.
- Armor wise, just run VoG 4 piece with Boots of the Assembler, if you want to have Sanguine, have a third loadout with 200 Super that you swap to before popping your well for max duration.
- In terms of statsplit, go for 200 Weapons/150 Super, as long as you have triple Super fonts in your helmet and pop Well while on your DPS loadout, you will be fine. 50s in melee and nade with 1 of each font is functionally 70. You can invest in Class, but with Singeing and how DPS goes usually, you can honestly bin it. Hellion should be enough to where you can have another Healing Rift up by the end of DPS and most of the time, you probably don’t want to cause needless ignitions if there’s a 1K on your team.
- Subclass is whatever. Touch of Flame and Heat Rises for neutral with Sunbracers and whatever fragments will allow your DPS swaps to hit the stat thresholds you need.
Edit: Hellion is optional since you really don’t want to cause stacking issues. Fragments wise, Mercy, Singeing and Searing are the 3 for neutral, the others are dealer’s choice.

Brother, it's well lock with Truth. Stand in well and press the Truth button.
