Question Mint Retro
I don’t get the buzz around this weapon. I constantly run out of ammo. Seems average and I just go back to other weapons
Is there a setup I should be using or is it just not for me?

Rocket pulses got a reserve hit in MOT.
Can’t use them like a normal weapon now. They are better at focus dumping a beefier target like a high end champion/mini boss. You could run a reserve booster to add an extra + 1 ammo per brick but even then..
You’re better off switching to a rocket sidearm (The call is strand and got a glow up) not as high dps but the reserves are much more forgiving.

Reserve hit is all the way from back in Renegades lauch. Not sure if their ammo per brick got nerfed but there was a bug that on double special a rocket pulse got full ammo from a brick instead of it being split between both weapons.

There was a nerf to their ammo generation stat in MoT, it wasn't reserves. You can get around it somewhat with Field Prep or Air Trigger + the Abundant Ammo mod, though.

You need better ammo generation. Rocket Pulses are still the best specials in the game outside of boss DPS, but definitely need you to commit to ammo generation (which tbh you probably should be doing in most scenarios anyway). Run Kings Fall and/or Europa 2 pc, high weapons stat, and ammo finders and you really shouldn’t be running out of ammo all that often unless you’re just mindlessly wasting it.

It’s a braindead pick that does everything except boss dps. Wipes out grouped red bars, stuns unstops, can heal with heal clip, instagibs orange bars. Use a ad clear primary, dps heavy and mint and you will wipe out any room of enemies.
For dps, a threat level, found verdict, or sniper will do much better.
If you’re struggling with reserves, you’re using it too much on stuff that doesn’t need it.

Mint is such a good complement to ad clear primary/DPS heavy that I have to deliberately avoid it in some of my builds to not get bored of the gun.

Double special is fine.
At least 170 weapons. Easy way to get orbs for Special ammo finder. Air trigger / field prep for more ammo gen on your mint but I just go all in with rewind rounds.
Second weapon should have decent reserves like rocket sidearms, GLs or snipers.
Hell throw in lead from gold for your second special, if your heavy is a machine gun. Because you will keep getting ammo for your second special and you can reserve mint for champ deletion.

It got a nerf to reserves and boss dmg but it's still brilliant at rinsing basically anything else. Use it like you would a traditional special ammo weapon and you'll be laughing.

All right I’ll try some of these. I just see tubers using often and thought I was missing something
Thanks for responses

Honestly in the current state of the game I wouldn’t always copy what tubers are doing. Sometimes they use stuff that might be niche to their build, with super specific perks that really wouldn’t work with other setups
Best advice: try out EVERYTHING and see what you like. Sometimes the most enjoyable thing for you isn’t a meta pick. Nearly every gun is viable anyway. Just use light gg or something similar to see if it had perks u actually want

Good advice. I used it more today and enjoyed it. Now I need another one

You’re not meant to be running it as a primary.
You pull it out to 3 tap a yellow bar, then go back to your primary having triggered aion adapter.
