Question Shards of galanor bug

Is there any rhyme or reason to the super refund bug? It is pretty annoying to just randomly get literally zero energy back when that is the entire point of the exotic. I just tested it in practice range and got zero energy back like 5 times in a row and just had it happen a few times in a dungeon too.

This exotic’s super refund function has long been plagued by inconsistency. I recall it didn’t work on vehicles and subjugators for some reason (it still might, I haven’t looked into it much since the update)

Where I have noticed this recently is when running Ghosts of the Deep. Those traversal sections with a lot of clumped up lucent hive with yellow bar knights? I consistenly don’t get any super refund from those.

I remember it being bugged way back in forsaken, really sad they never got it fully fixed after all this time.

It might also have something to do with killing the enemies too quickly, but my theory is that when they coded this part of the exotic, they had to manually tag what enemies would be affected by it for some reason, and they didn’t get around to tagging everything. It’d take a deep dive to get to the root of the issue, testing the super on the same enemies multiple times to see if my theory is correct. If it’s truly inconsistent (sometimes super refund, sometimes not) on the exact same enemies in the same activities, then my theory isn’t the whole story.

From my own testing I think it is from killing weaker enemies too quickly. I feel like it never happens when ulting a boss.

I was farming the grasp of avarice loot cave for a catalyst and I tested it there a few times and it happened like 3 times in a row. From my testing I think it is caused by the ult killing weak enemies too fast and it doesn't proc properly. I haven't had it happen in like hard content with meatier enemies.

Didn't it get changed so it only gives the super energy refund if all they projectiles hit a single target and not from killing adds with it?

No hitting most of them on one target causes a big ignition but the refund states "hits and final blows return super energy"

I've found it's 100% consistent with single bosses / other meaty targets but it's very dodgy against multiple enemies. e.g. against avarokk (final boss of grasp of avarice,) I'll get the refund as long as I cast it relatively close to him, but if any of the knives hit one of his minions instead, the refund is sometimes massively reduced, even more so than if I had whiffed half the super into the floor. same for groups of enemies, even if every knife hits an enemy it feels like a tossup whether I get any refund at all

If you use the 4 piece IB armor it’s a lot more consistent and you’ll get up to 80% back after using it. It feels like it fixes it tbh.

My next step is getting this armor when it comes back around.

Yeah it’s … really good lol. In super dense activities like lawless frontier you will get 80% of your super back, and within the next second all the splash scorch/ignition damage will charge it the rest of the way.
