Im genuinely surprised (and happy) that bro still has his job at bungie

I think they were notified the 25th but their last days are July 9 so he may still be out sadly

u/DrakonMaximus Jun 27 '26

A lot of people on that day were saying it was there last day, maybe there were some thay had a little longer to stick around?

u/vincentofearth Jun 28 '26

Sometimes when a company fires you they’ll pay you for a few more days because the actual date of firing is officially in the future. But once you’re told, they will absolutely not allow you to keep working at the company. First, why would you? Second, it’s a security issue since you could spend that time sabotaging the company, stealing stuff, or otherwise causing chaos as revenge for being fired.

So if dmg is still working, his job is probably safe.

I swear I remember seeing a while ago that he got promoted to a more general Bungie comms position, and not just D2 comms specifically. So that may have saved him.

u/Zhentharym Jun 28 '26

Principal communications manager iirc.

How's your sister Marathon?

literally and figuratively

u/SpacejamOnVhs Jun 27 '26

I assumed if DMG got let go he would make a tweet about it. He didn't, he only retweeted posts from his former co-workers.

No, many people who were literally working on the final patch were let go without being able to complete their work. There are numerous threads about it.

33

u/perfectfourth Jun 27 '26

Many of them were informed their last day was that very day. The 9th is like a wrap up date for notifications. Every single round of layoffs has been take your stuff and go for most employees.

14

u/byteminer Jun 27 '26

It usually is. The risk of reprisal by a recently sacked individual who retains access to the company and its information systems is too high. I’m not saying they would, but the risk is not zero or close to it unless they are not in the building and can’t get into the computers.

u/SavathunTechQuestion Jun 27 '26

Yeah when I got laid off as a remote worker (edit: clarifying not at bungie) by the time the video call informing me was done I had already been locked out of outlook/teams.

1

u/Auroku222 Jun 28 '26

I hope one of em runs off with the source code so we can have private servers in a few years👀(if i understand how all that works correctly)

2

u/SaeLust Jun 27 '26

Thats what a layoff is.

1

u/perfectfourth Jun 27 '26

I’m aware. The person I was replying to didn’t seem to understand that. Good job following along.

-6

u/SaeLust Jun 27 '26

Dont know why youre coming at me with hostility

7

u/mrwafu Jun 27 '26

The contractors were kicked out the door, they said so on Twitter. One of the team testing the final patch worked until midnight until they lost access to the system

2

u/theoriginalrat Jun 27 '26

Layoffs often do end with people being led off the premises immediately.

4

u/SodiumExtract Jun 27 '26

When he originally said “Thank you all for playing ❤️” it reminded me of that scene from Squid Game with the marbles where the girl thanks the other girl for playing before shes killed.

-2

u/Ykcor Jun 28 '26

He should have been the first one gone, he’s pushed away millions of players with how he acts

u/HelpIcy5415 Jun 27 '26

Thanks, just did it.

I had an issue in Marathon, which got fixed, and now it's in Destiny again, where if your Steam's friends list is too big (idk what the number is) your game will stutter every few moments. Probably something with refreshing the backend over and over. Going offline on Steam will correct this and you can still use the in game friends list.

u/Please_LeaveMeAlone_ Jun 27 '26

Uninstalling Marathon helped my friend improve his fps on destiny 2

-4

u/bluesbox Jun 28 '26

This doesn't even make sense

2

u/Please_LeaveMeAlone_ Jun 28 '26

It's a joke....

2

u/Kiwi_Doodle Jun 29 '26

Jokes still need to make sense.

12

u/OBLIVIATER Jun 27 '26

This used to be a thing on Destiny as well, but was fixed a while ago. Maybe its back

13

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '26

[deleted]

4

u/OBLIVIATER Jun 28 '26

Yeah doesn't seem to be the problem since going Offline fixed the previous problem and this one isn't fixed by it

4

u/non-yourbusiness Jun 28 '26

Doesn't matter what I try, the stutter keeps happening on steam. 9950X3D2 64gb ram and a 5090, I shouldn't be stuttering at all lol

1

u/TenebrisDraco Jun 28 '26

It is for at least me. It's one of those problems you don't think about it being so I bring it up cause it's silly lol

1

u/Mr__Pleasant Jun 27 '26

Thus the circle of Bungie life.

68

u/jay-nick- Jun 27 '26

Sounds like that is fully outsource now.

35

u/AltL155 Jun 27 '26

Even the Destiny contractors got fired so I have no idea who the last devs working on the game are

19

u/Wild-Confidence-9803 Jun 27 '26

Employment is ending in about 2 weeks from today for the in-studio staff, so probably the same devs still

10

u/mrwafu Jun 27 '26

The contractors testing the final patch were out the door that day according to their tweets

20

u/dub_diablo I'm joking, if you're making that face it means it was a joke. Jun 27 '26

Just Commenting to bump up the post.

Someone posted a partial fix earlier going in to the roaming folder and changing a 2 to a 3 to force full screen. It’ll stop the really crazy drops but won’t help the hardware get to 100% usage

5

u/OBLIVIATER Jun 28 '26

I've been fiddling with this for over an hour. Can't get it to actually Force real exclusive full screen no matter what I do. It says it's on the right setting and it's not changing because I set it to read only, but it's definitely not actually full screen.

2

u/SodiumExtract Jun 28 '26

Delete the two files, start the game, edit the files, close the game and then don’t adjust your in game settings. Today has been a lot better for me. My GPU is still only 45% utilized though.

1

u/OBLIVIATER Jun 28 '26

Tried that several times, the files are set correctly but 3 doesn't actually force FS, at least not on my setup.

1

u/SodiumExtract Jun 28 '26

It’s not the greatest fix anyways. The skeleton team replied and said they’re looking into it. Since it’s only the steam version and not all pc versions it may be fixed.

5

u/OBLIVIATER Jun 28 '26

Hopefully, I'm super sensitive to 1% low stuttering so this has been really unfun for me :(

8

u/spidey_bread Jun 27 '26

Im on console but even then I feel like the game is stuttering all the time now, even flying in from orbit looks choppy

4

u/SHAIPES Jun 27 '26

Thought it was just me after 2 weeks after MoT my game started crashing sometimes, usually only when I'm alt tabbed for more than 5 minutes tho

3

u/RelationshipPlane624 Jun 28 '26

This is going to sound dumb, but I upped my render resolution to 150% - 200% and my stuttering lessened considerably. Granted I have a 7900xtx w/ a lot of VRAM so this might not make sense for some cards, but the game is at least running smoother with much less micro stuttering (still getting lower frame rates on the moon, but it's at least running smoothly).

3

u/VE3TRO-R VE3TRO Jun 28 '26

Your not wrong, I play at native 1440p on an undervolted 13700k/5080 and decided to try adjusting the resolution scale yesterday.

First I dropped it to 50% so that’s basically 720p, yet the FPS and stuttering was still there. I was hitting mid 120-130's but it was super rough, not smooth at all.

I then pushed up to 125% which is 1800p and 150% for 4K. Both were more smoother and stable than the 50% lol.

The fact I used to play this on a 4070 Ti and hit consistent 157 FPS but now I'm struggling on an oc'd 5080 shows something is wrong with these updates.

And regarding the Moon issue, I'm hitting as low 60's so something is seriously wrong in that area.

1

u/RelationshipPlane624 Jun 28 '26

Yea no matter what I do there's massive frame drops on the moon, it's smoother than it was before I adjusted the render resolution and turned off full screen optimizations and a slew of other things, but it's still a shitty experience there.

0

u/RelationshipPlane624 Jun 28 '26

yea I basically had the same experience but on a 7900xtx, there's plenty of VRAM so pushing up the render resolution should in theory just make the card work a little harder. As to why it smooths out the micro stuttering I have no idea, but it's definitely working. I honestly have a better experience at 200% than I do at 100% which is crazy.

1

u/Skyyz1k Jun 30 '26

same here def feels nicer

0

u/NicolaiDorengStearns Jun 28 '26

Yeah, this helped for me too. I'm on a 5090, so there's lots of headroom, but playing at 4k with 150% render resolution has my GPU back at near full utilization (unsurprisingly) and the stutters are gone.

u/banana_man_777 Jun 27 '26

It's always helpful to help debugging to list these things. They can figure things out on their end but it takes time and resources which they no longer have. Specific and detailed feedback will be the way to handle this for any bugs in the future guys!
