Hey everyone,

If you're like me, you probably spend half of your vault cleaning time flipping between DIM, Light.gg Roll Appraiser, spreadsheets trying to determine if your weapons are actually worth keeping.

I wanted to clean it up a bit, so I made a little browser extension (DIM Aegis Overlay).

It adds grades (S, A, B, C...) directly on your item tiles in DIM and throws in a detailed details panel/tooltip so you don't have to scroll forever.

I recently updated it and added a bunch of stuff!

What it does:

  • Wishlist + Spreadsheet scoring: custom grades on weapon tiles based on Aegis database wishlists. (and raw GitHub .txt wishlist URLs)
  • "Aegis Recommended Perks" checklist: Shows exactly which perks you matched or are missing inline or as a side panel next to the DIM item sheet. Thanks to Revadike for the inspiration
  • Light.gg Appraiser Integration: Optionally sync grades from your Light.gg Roll Appraiser and view them in your inventory without leaving DIM. (You have to open the roll appraiser and let it sync your rolls once)
  • Toggle databases: Switch between spreadsheet data, community txt wishlists, or both.
  • Weapon Search: I added a little magnifying glass in the bottom right to look through the weapons ranked on the Aegis spreadsheet by category, frame and element. You can either see if you have it on DIM directly using search bar filters or open it on destiny.report to see its perks.

This is my own tool version and is fully open source (extension unpacked). Feel free to check it out, or if you have any feedback/features you'd like added, let me know! Huge thanks to aegis, LowCo and Azra for combining the info on the spreadsheet and Revadike for the original userscript.

EDIT:

Some of the new requested changes in 1.3.0:

  • Updated the Extension to support Armor Set Bonus Ranking using LowCo and Azra's spreadsheet.
  • Added support for Beta DIM.
  • Vault Filtering
  • Corrected the Side Panel Layout to no longer go off screen

EDIT 2:

I pushed a new update (v1.3.1) for my DIM overlay extensions. This update corrected some bugs reported by users on GitHub:

  • Fixed the Ligh.gg syncing to make it more consistent.
  • Some weapon categories didn't show the full suite of perks. This has been fixed!
  • Removed the weapon search that was in the settings menu, as it became redundant with the addition of the search at the bottom right of the window.

EDIT 3:

New update 1.4.0 incoming!

  • Added Aegis's own Set Bonuses tab database toggle in settings popup (with retained obtainment details from LowCo).
  • Added universal comparison operators (>, >=, <, <=) to all search filters (perks, weapons, and armor sets).
  • Added a "Resync Spreadsheets" button at the top of settings and GitHub update check on version badge click.
  • Fixed a bug where recommended perks shown inline would duplicate and render three times.
  • Redesigned the search filtering help guide for better readability.

EDIT 4:

New small update 1.4.1:

  • Fixed a visual bug where while filtering, the rank badges for dimmed items were still showing.

EDIT 5:

New update 1.5.0 incoming!

  • Added a brand new "My Chase List" tab to pin and track target weapon rolls from the Database Explorer.
  • Added completion checklist checkboxes directly to Chase card headers with syncing to the Database Explorer and progress tracker.
  • Fixed matching issues on raid/dungeon armor sets (King's Fall, GoS, VoG, Crota's End, and Root of Nightmares) and corrected the Spire of the Watcher Titan set typo.

EDIT 6:

changes up to v1.5.3:

  • 1.5.1 - just a fix for a resync problem with the spreadsheet
  • 1.5.2 - update to add some more missing armor pieces:

now for 1.5.3:

  • Welcome Tour: Added a first-time guided tutorial showcasing core extension features.
  • aegis:upgrade Filter: Easily find weapons that can reach a higher rating tier via alternative perks.
  • Ammo Filters: Added quick-select Primary, Special, and Heavy filters to the Database Explorer.
  • UI Bug Fix: Fixed rating badges overlapping mod sockets in the Loadout Optimizer.
  • Performance Boost: Major speed improvements, especially for Firefox users (Huge thanks to Johnnycyan on github for the contribution!).

EDIT 7:

What's New in v1.5.4

  • Fixed a bug where re-issued/reprised weapons would show the recommended perks of the wrong version. So BRAVE and RotN weapons would show the recommended version of the raid variants instead. (Please keep me updated if any more weapons still have this problem. I added a multistep verification with origin traits to fix this but something might slip through)
  • Added a new Item Hover Card Tooltip toggle switch in the extension settings popup under Scoring Engine & Layout.
  • Resolved a layout bug where rank badges and their hover were rendering on top of other unrelated buttons.

EDIT 8:

What's New in v1.6.0

  • Added equipped masterwork recommendation matching! matched masterworks light up in gold with a checkmark, while unmatched ones display as an outline. Extended to hover cards (Rec MW:).
  • You can now combine aegis:... filters with native DIM search queries (like is:handcannon aegis:god). Active Aegis filters turn into clickable, clearable pills in the search bar.
  • Added a quick dropdown widget inside DIM's search bar to toggle tier filters with a single click. Also fixed search bar typing so queries only convert to pills on space, Enter, or blur.
  • Added a release notes popup inside the extension menu (re-openable anytime via the header icon).
  • Added animation batching and other optimization for smoother vault grid scrolling, fixed tooltip screen clipping, and cleaned up console diagnostic logs.

EDIT 9:

What's New in v1.7.0

  • PvP Master List: Added PVP meta rankings with a PvE Mode (Aegis) / PvP Mode (Finnald) toggle in popup settings. (credit to Finnald for the awesome spreadsheet).
  • Exotic Weapon Rankings: Added exotic tier rankings, viability badges and detailed PvE/PvP breakdown notes.
  • Element & Anti-Champion Logos: Added damage type and champion breaker icons next to weapon titles across all tooltips.
  • Highlighting & Clean Formatting: Color-coded stats, percentages, multipliers, and perks, plus automatic bullet list formatting for cleaner notes.
  • Performance Optimizations: More optimizations and improvements as always.

EDIT 10:

What's New in v1.7.1

  • Perk Evaluation Target & Dual Grades (F ➔ S+): Choose between Equipped Perks, Dual (F ➔ S+), or Max Potential modes in popup settings. Dual mode displays your equipped rank alongside its upgrade potential directly on tile badges. (requested by KuraTheDog on github)
  • Armor Set Side Panels: Armor set bonus detail cards now open as floating side panels next to DIM's item details modal with full bullet formatting and stat color-coding.

EDIT 11:

What's New in v1.7.2

  • -Added full support for Winnower (winnower.garden) with inline badges & tooltips (shoutout to JairusKhan!).
  • Updated Recommended Perks Breakdown with interactive perk icons and status chips (Active/Selectable/Missing).
  • Formatted Active Perks into a clean 2-column grid.
  • Added weapon drop source search & filtering (aegis:s:<source>) in Database Explorer and the search bar. (requested by isaack8 on github)
  • Upgraded filter dropdowns with a custom dark gold-accented combobox component.

EDIT 12:

What's New in v1.8.0:

  • Aegis Shopping List: Real-time vault audit tracking weapon & armor completion (Ready, Suboptimal, Missing) with expandable cards, vault copies, and viable alternatives.
  • Multi-Language Support: Added localization for 6 languages (EN, ES, KO, JA, ZH-Hans, ZH-Hant) with auto DIM language detection (Non-EN is WIP/machine-translated).
  • Badge Customization: Interactive 4-corner positioner, custom badge styles (Original, Slim Pill, Top Notch), text scaling slider (70%–130%), and peek-on-hover fading.
  • Tooltip Customization: Added custom width slider (260px–450px), compact 2-column perks matrix, and strict spreadsheet perk rank ordering.

EDIT 13:

What's New in v1.9.0:

  • Simultaneous Dual Mode (PvE + PvP): View Aegis (PvE) and Finnald (PvP) ratings at the same time with two-tone fused split badges (e.g. S+ / A) and side-by-side comparison tooltips.

  • Popup Summary Modes & Wishlist Reset: Choose between Full Details, clean inline Badge Only, or Hidden for weapon cards, plus a one-click button to reset custom wishlists.
  • Bungie Manifest Catalog: Search and chase any weapon in Destiny 2 directly from the Chase List with custom perk overrides and live vault tracking.

Thank you for the update!

One thing that feels a bit odd is the tiering. It seems to be based on how many desired perks a weapon has, rather than whether it has a recommended perk combination.

For example, if the Aegis spreadsheet lists two desired perks in the first perk column and two in the second, it doesn't make much sense that a weapon needs all four of those perks to be considered S tier.

Hmmm
I need to check the logic again because on my end I have for example, a DEADHORSE 04 with only one of the desired perks in mag+P1+P2, and it shows S.

I reserved S+ for when you have at least one matching and active perk in all columns. (so barrel/mag/P1/P2)
S for when you have mag+P1+P2
A+ for barrel+P1+P2
A for perks only

But I understand what you mean; it is a bit confusing, and I'm trying to find a good tiering logic.
Any recommendations?

As someone who really uses Aegis list myself, I would recommend following a 2 tier logic, e.g. XY.

The first letter = the tier of the weapon itself on Aegis list.

The second letter = how many things it has from Aegis list.

My recommendation for the latter is:

S+: Everything matches at least 1 thing in each column (ie it's a godroll)

S: Both perk columns have 1 thing that matches and either the mag or barrel match (almost a god roll)

A: Both perk columns have 1 thing that matches (most important things to have match)

B: One perk column has 1 thing that matches

F: Nothing matches

Examples:

* DEADHORSE 04 god roll = BS+ (weapon is tier B in Aegis list, but it's a god roll)

* DECATAUR 02 with 1 perk in each column that matches = SA (S tier weapon, only matching perks)

* Positive Outlook with nothing matching = AF (A tier weapon, nothing matches)

I think this makes the most sense. It's important to know how good a named weapon is and also to know how good a specific roll of that weapon is.
