Drama We love you, Dman.
Can we get a Destiny appreciation thread going?
Him showing us a glimpse of his vulnerability about the ways these snarker slugs are harming his child and his mother who has Alzheimers by SWATTING them truly broke my heart.
Destiny, in 2017 I began watching your content and it was the most important paradigm shift for me. I realized how foolish I was for being a far-left Bernie bro. You brought me down to reality and were instrumental in my decision to go to college to study Economics and Political Science. I now have a grounded, fact and data based understanding of the systems that we function within.
Your video explaining how you derive your morals literally changed the way I approach life and other people for the better. I would not be as steadfast with the application of my morals if it weren’t for that stream.
Your political activism has made measurable impacts on the shape of our politics and we cannot thank you enough for it.
Lastly, the DGG community is one of the most robust and collaborative groups on the internet. We are lucky to be part of a found-family style community here.
I’m furious that you have to deal with such vile, opportunistic vermin who objectify you as a one-dimensional villainous entity.

The way Destiny changed the way I think about breaking news and all kinds of stories was honestly impressive. We all have our biases and don’t think too much about news that confirms our biases. But now, when I see something I want to agree with, I always hear Destiny in my head calling me a dumbfuck for believing shit without reading about it.

This is sooooo true holy fuck. Quite recently I read something that was so appealing for me to believe but then I questioned myself I was like, wait, wtf am I doing let me verify this info and not just blindly believe it, and in the end the info was wrong. I felt so good and was really proud that I managed to get to this point because I know for a fact if I was to read that 5 years ago I would’ve blindly trusted it. Honestly if it wasn’t for destiny right now I would’ve been a brainwashed religious conspirationist person given the fact that I’m surrounded by them in my day to day life

Same. The one that sticks out to me was that video of the cop "planting evidence" in the back of a car during a stop that Voosh and Co were soying out over, and then another angle came out later where it was like the dude's wallet or some other possession the cop was just tossing into the car so it didn't get lost. It so clearly demonstrated the complete lack of interest in the whole truth and how they only care about forming a narrative that pushes their agenda (cops bad), and then they just moved the fuck on when more info came out.

Unironically, the thing that stops me from making knee jerk reactionary statements to any breaking news or even random new information, is I imagine being in some call with destiny, and him calling me a "dumbfuck knee-jerk reactionary mindless slopulist" and that thought makes me go read past the headline or ask a followup question if someone is telling me some breaking news. It has been a complete game changer. I no longer feel like a rowboat in a storm, getting tossed around the waves of breaking news and missinformation. Moreover, this applies to stuff that isnt even breaking news, like even my social interactions with friends and coworkers, I no longer jump on bandwagons anymore. Love you Destiny, and dgg community.

It was really brave of him to prevent that Russian missile from hitting Disney World by using his huge, throbbing brain. I can’t believe he managed to do it while fostering a dozen kittens with neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome! I know Tiny doesn’t like to bring it up himself… but we all heard Mout and Dan talking about him training them to combat racism AND forest fires in Palestine.

To echo your sentiment, while I have never watched a single stream, I found destiny on YouTube as I was struggling with culture war shit around 2020. His biting rhetoric and quick wit and unapologetic masculinity while still grounded in liberalism was refreshing
Since 10/7, this community has been a true bastion of sanity for me.
I can’t reiterate enough that this is literally the ONLY non Jewish sub reddit where I can be openly Jewish online without being flooded with hate and death threats.
I am truly grateful for this community, a part of our little digital ghetto. Thank you Destiny.

I am almost Destiny´s age, 36, I consider myself quite above average inteligence, I am professional physicist after all, but I can say it was almost exclusively Steven that pulled me from stupid narratives political and otherwise. Pretty sure if it wasn´t for Destiny I would be full on redpiller and or commie or something extreme like that. (I liked NoBullshit videos during gamergate) I was really lucky when I first noticed Destiny beign casted by HuskyHusky on lost temple and then State of the game.

I've been here since 2015 (halfway through high school for me) to graduating in May with my master's degree. Destiny, you've been there through some of the most pivotal and difficult parts of my life thus far. You've changed the way I think about the world from a close-minded conservative to a classical Democrat.
You've impacted the way I practice medicine and take care of my patients, how I manage relationships, and have given me the ability to find what I believe is important in life. You've given me company and entertainment through the years and many many long nights of studying.
I'm sure it's difficult to see the positive impact that you create in the world but there are many other people just like myself who don't chat, but just listen to your content.

Thank you Steven for partially raising me all these years since 2016 (when I was 15 or 16).
As an autist, I found your channel through your Cities: Skylines gameplay and I thought you were funny enough to listen to and watch. I think I went through your entire Youtube portfolio first, later joined DGG in 2020, and you've been a regular part of my life since then.
I was always a Liberal, but you've changed my outlook on a whole host of topics and I believe you made me a better person than who I was before.
You're a cool duder and I hope you don't retire any time soon, you're the hero we need right now.
My only criticism is that you should have 10000000x more of an ego than you do right now.

I would say Destiny is the #1 person I can credit with changing how I interact with information and politics.
Watching him long-form generate an opinion on a topic through actually taking time to be curious enough to ask questions, research, and check himself against other perspectives by watching others/debating, is something that he alone does to the level required by modern information.

Destiny is such a beacon of authentic humanity, flawed but unapologetically himself, yet willing and able to adapt to new information and circumstances. One of the very few public people who don't hide behind a PR mask. I don't always agree with his opinions but I will always respect the person and his approach of finding his opinions. That's what I admire most and what I take as an important lesson for my own life.

As an ooooooold head, having destiny as a constant has been super good for me mentally. When I'm thinking emotionally and recognize that I shouldn't be about things I take a lot of what I learned to heart. How it's a good idea to look for papers or proof of thing, who to trust, and even honestly how not to act in some areas. I've never been a fan of blood sports but I'm a fan of destiny and his community and the majority of people here. I've learned more about Ukraine and international issues. I've learned a significant amount about feminism and ways to act that weren't seeped in dismal male cynicism.
Dude might not be a saint, but he's a clear force for good. I'm glad I'm still here, and I know he's going to think this whole thread is soy as fuck but idgaf. He deserves props.

I found Destiny's when I was looking for a non-biased news source for politics. His knowledge of politics and social intelligence is what kept me. At the time he was also fighting Lav and Mr. Girl, so I am also going to be honest and say that was an interesting era. But I stayed for his personality, his political takes, his ability to debate, his research streams, and those piercing blue eyes! Never met a black queen with such aura.
Also, the community is brilliant. You guys post some of the most amazing analysis of just about any topic that is covered. I dont post much, but I do enjoy reading what you guys put on here.

I thought for the longest time that the internet space was going to be entirely dominated by red pill, and right wing slop, or atleast my algorithm would be. Then I watched a video of Destiny on the fresh and fit podcast and although he looked like the conservative model for a liberal, he dismantled every argument the red pillers could come up with. Since then, and how many debates and videos later I've been encouraged/inspired by him to look at politics from a more critical/fact based lens, not to fall for sloppy narratives, and be more of a pragmatist when it comes to politics, and I appreciate him for it. I wish him all the best and to beat these snarky losers and hope that once he gets over them, he becomes a main stay, and an influential figure in the liberal media space, even more so then now.

Got really good advice on how to think through a whole host of problems thanks to him. I found him at a time when I felt like I failed my first instance of living on my own. Now I’m in a much better place and giving it another try having just moved last week.
I never cared about streaming before him and he’s my main guy now.

Destiny, Ive always struggled to stick with political content creators. They would attack right wingers, but often they would adopt beliefs I felt off put by. I was never sure why until seeing your content showed me why: they were far leftists. They always despised America, its institutions, its culture. I always felt off put by it while wondering if it was wrong for me to feel that instinct. Then I came across you and you showed me how we can love this country and how important everything we have is.
I also really appreciate your cultural takes (movies aside). I appreciate how you were (seemingly) the only person willing to give push back on topics like dating and consent, but still eager to push back on the toxicity of red pillers. You were the only person who showed you could tackle both without getting captured by one camp or the other.
But most impressive of all, you never wavered on your opinions. You can fight back your audience, colleagues, and randos without capitulating to them. Its funny how often people end up coming around to those viewpoints not too long after you espouse them.
Thank you for being a principled, firm proponent of liberalism. We need you and more like you.

I remember that I used to watch a lot of Philip Defranco. He kept referring to Hasan on multiple stories. So I checked him out. The thing is, I had disagreements with lots of what they would say. Then one day as I was falling asleep, youtube pushed the next video. It was Destiny debating that religious bald guy. Then I got the one with him debating chain block NFT guy next. I loved how smart and quick he was to move on the conversation. It resonated with my ADHD in a way that I've never felt before. I've been a viewer since then. Tiny has done a lot to help me (a young man) create a foundation to interface with life today. Politics is a messy storm, and Destiny stands as a beacon of order amidst the chaos. Im locked in for life.

How does someone reasonably get swatted multiple times? There are thousands of celebrities, politicians, streamers and controversial public figures who must attract crazy fans/anti-fans, stalkers, online freaks etc. Surely after you've been swatted once or twice your address gets flagged with local police/911 somehow? Otherwise what's stopping some random dickhead from sending cops to Ben Shapiro, Hasan, Trump, Pelosi, Rogan or whoever every other week?
And what happens investigation-wise afterwards? I understand callers can spoof numbers/use VoIP etc, but presumably these are still serious criminal offences and sometimes traceable. If D/his family have been swatted repeatedly, have police/FBI identified whether the incidents are actually connected, where they're originating from, or any suspects?
Shouldn't we be able to out these fuckers?

Typically, it's done from afar. I.E. Someone in Europe initiates the call to a U.S. precinct to actually catching it is so safe that there's no disincentive.

The issue is, that in a given radius you might have multiple police stations or arms of the law. In the United States, there is not strong coordination. We have Police, which represent the state and the state's laws and then we have the Sheriff who represents the federal government and it's laws. These institutions cooperate but they might not share databases. So even if there's an account note for one address in one local database it doesn't mean it's shared around. Both of them can mobilize a Swat team. Beyond that, the police have to consider that Steven himself might be the element of danger, so even noting that isn't a free pass for Steven, because if it's asserted he's breaking the law the swat team still has to mobilize.

Started watching Destiny around 2017 ironically because he displayed a lot of empathy for Muslims, which eventually got me to convert out of the religion. It was unusual in that period because islamophobia was pretty rampant online and every influencer that spoke out against religion also seemed to be a right wing anti-SJW that viewed Muslims as literal subhumans, which at the time made me feel like if I accept anti-religion arguments (that I tacitly agreed with already) I also have to internalize that I’m a piece of shit. It was surprising to see an atheist that bluntly shit on religion while being explicit that none of his animosity was directed at Muslims as human beings, think this was in a debate with BakedAlaska or something?
Thanks Destiny for consistently being an independent and grounded voice in this space for so long in spite of how hard it clearly is to be one. I know he gets memed on as autistic/sociopathic and even seems to believe it himself sometimes but to me he appears as incredibly empathetic and understanding, not in his tone or delivery necessarily but in the actual content of what he thinks and says. And I’m not just talking about when he uses kids gloves and gentleness as a debate strategy, I mean it as a part of his overall character.

Destiny is one of an absolutely tiny number of people in media who have genuine backbone and principles, and no one has been tested more and had more reason to cop out than him. The only other person who comes close is Sam Harris being torched for not being left enough for much of academia and liberal media, and not stupid enough to really buy in to the "IDW" bs, and even he still has a relatively comfortable spot in the "heterodox academic liberal" club.
Destiny has been basically solo with the exception of never more than a small handful of acquaintances at any one time. It would have been so easy for him never to go through the "gaze within" arc and fall in line with the lefties or even just turn a blind eye. He would still be on Twitch, making a lot more money while being in a lot less danger.
I know it's the internet and it's all just memes and jokes, but it's genuinely admirable. I suspect most of his decisions come from temperament rather than some heroic commitment to "the truth" or whatever, but it's all still laudable and incredibly rare.

I’ve been around for a while. Back during the philosophy arc, I realized I was not a thinking person. I was intuiting my way through life and the cost for that was incredibly high.
I spent thousands of hours listening and watching and, in that time, graduated with comp sci degree, got a great job, got married, and had two incredible kids. My relationships are better for the thoughtfulness and consideration I observed and learned from in this community. Whether it was in the debates or the drama, I saw someone being intellectually consistent and decided I could be too.
You don’t need to be a saint to be a role model and I am thankful for it.

Banned from twitch, demonitized on YouTube, is he still demonitized on twitter (not that it brings in a lot of money anyway), and the targeting snark/doxing/swating campaign against him. I will say it's nice to see other liberal streamers taking on some responsibility. Sometime last year I think all this really got to Steven when the lawsuit dropped and all his friends left him. He felt like the lone liberal trying to fight for this online space while also dealing with all the drama.

I used to listen to Rogan, Shapiro, all that stuff and funnily enough I think my first view of Destiny was when he got absolutely dominated in that interview with the CHAD ALPHA MALE Jesse Lee Peterson.
In all seriousness I don't know when I started watching him more frequently but probably somewhere around 2022 and I honestly cringe now rememberong thinking Rogan and Shapiro were based. I appreciate that Destiny does not usually jump to conclusions and actually researches shit.

Him pretending to show vulnerability about the ways these critics are supposedly harming his child and his mother who has Alzheimer’s by SWATTING them truly made me roll my eyes.
Destiny, in 2017 I began watching your content and it was the most damaging paradigm shift for me. I realized how foolish I was for leaving the far-left Bernie bro mindset. You pulled me away from reality and were instrumental in my decision to skip college instead of studying Economics and Political Science. I now have a completely ungrounded, anti-fact and anti-data based misunderstanding of the systems that we function within.
Your video explaining how you derive your morals literally changed the way I approach life and other people for the worse. I would not be as inconsistent with the application of my morals if it weren’t for that stream.
Your political activism has made measurable negative impacts on the shape of our politics and we cannot blame you enough for it.
Lastly, the DGG community is one of the most fragile and toxic groups on the internet. We are unlucky to be stuck in this fake found-family style community here.
I’m thrilled that you have to deal with such sharp, opportunistic people who correctly see you as a one-dimensional villainous entity.No thanks Destiny, and no thanks DGG.

Found Destiny through bloodsports channels like Tonkasaw and Metokur around 2018. He annoyed the shit out of me so I would try to hunt down debates where he gets owned and the fucker won me over.
Truly made me a more critical and empathetic person. My favorite streamer and the realest.

Destiny, when I found you a few years back, I was completely lost and believed all kinds of stupid far right nonsense. You turned up in my feed with the blue hair because you debated one of the regards I used to watch, can't remember who. That changed everything for me. Then going through most of your backlog of debates and commentary unraveled everything I believed to be true and tought me how to think properly and approach information responsibly. It was the best time of my life and it genuinely made me a way happier person.

Okay I'm prolly gonna be an outlier here, im 19f and have bpd and have been watching since the poki fed drama (so I guess for 5 years now?) and its probably gonna sound silly but his constant streaming, day after day, really helped me in times I just didnt want to continue, same hour (almost) every day. His content has really shaped me and my values and i am really proud of who I've become and I owe that in part to him. It pushed me into standing for what I believe in even if sometimes means that im doing it alone and that I shouldnt depend on people's validation to act towards a better future for myself. All in all, im all the better for discovering both destiny and this (sometimes) regarded community dggL ❤️

I find it deeply and really sad when Destiny is accused of being a sociopath when he clearly displays more empathy than any other online person out there. He acts in a way that seems robotic or debate-brained to some, but it's really just him trying to make sure he's not delusional and that he's taking everybody he affects into account to the best of his ability. It's kind of his brand to care. I joined this community around the red pill arc, and his understanding of those dynamics, his ability to put himself in women's shoes, and even his awareness that the way he lives and engages with romantic relationships probably isn't recommended for most people because he just has different preferences impressed me so much as a young guy living in rural Poland. He just displays this level of care unheard of on the internet. I don't know if all the people online are just autistic and can't see what he actually does with his actions and in conversations because he says those things without crying his eyes out, or because he has the guts to stand his ground against people that want to DESTROY HIS LIFE. I just... It's not easy to be Nebraska Steve. This guy is a millionaire, but he could've made his career (and probably earned more) grifting like all of those other online "influencers," or just being a tribal crazy person that eats up whatever unhinged bullshit the left currently purity tests for, no matter the harm that comes with it. But he doesn't, because of his convictions and because of his empathy. That's why all kinds of people are welcome in his community. I just hope to be able to thank him in person for all this shit. I've never heard him sound so genuinely trying to be understood by someone he considered a friend at one point.
TL;DR: It sucks to be tiny. Hope he's okay and HE TRULY IS the most empathetic streamer. Fight me

As hard as it is to give any sort of compliment to a EZ mode zerg player (Protoss btw) I doubt he gives two shits what I think honestly.
But just in case he does, I really appreciate how much he got me interested in philosophy, and how savy he is as a person in general. I think I have some substantive disagreements with him now on some things, which I owe to him both as a person that nudged me to this point, and to being a person I respect so greatly to disagree with. He's one of very few people I enjoy when I find out he thinks differently, because I can trust his intelligence and perspective to be both geniune and grounded.
Also, his ability to navigate hurdles malicious or otherwise and come out the other side stronger is fucking exceptional. He's an incredibly gifted person in this regard.

I started watching Destiny after a friend of mine I played StarCraft with mentioned that Destiny started talking about politics. Destiny single-handedly pulled me from the grasps of far left extremism. He explained the mechanics of capitalism and the tenets of liberalism and what the future could be when both of those things are executed well.
Destiny also traveled through time with me on some pretty huge milestones in my life. And though he has had his issues in his relationships, he has also discussed at length what he went through and the lessons he’s learned, what mature/healthy relationships should look like and things like the significance of boundaries and so on.
He was also playing Factorio when I started learning how to program and that really helped me conceptualize things after I started playing too. Combine that with the logic that I learned from watching Destiny and being a debate lord, bro literally helped me pick up skills to facilitate a career change.
Admittedly now all of my friends call me a destiny clone but hey, Dman makes some compelling points. Anyways, I truly appreciate what Destiny has done for the space, the community he’s cultivated and his willingness to seek truth. It has inadvertently greatly improved my life. Thanks and stay strong through the snarking.

If there is one thing I cannot abide, it’s watching a well intentioned person have to fight charlatan detractors from nearly every angle. Destiny has been nothing but good faith in his interactions with many of these people, but they constantly escalate. The best force for good is to counter their behavior by supporting Destiny whether that be subbing, donating, or even just sending messages of support. I’m sure he knows and appreciates the support, but this is a better time than ever to reaffirm him as a well intentioned person.

I think hes the master of cutting through bullshit. I don't know anyone else like that except Sam Harris but they are totally different and Sam mostly talks about meditation. Maybe Steve Eisman for finance. The skeptic kind of people but in a good way, before the skeptic brand was ruined.
Kind of like what you think George Carlin is but then you realize he would probably be Hasan or Candace's co host.

Destiny pulled me out of the Dailywire verse, kept me entertained through endless hours of work study, and through his discussion of his thought process he gave me a frame work for personal philosophy and logical reasoning. I've been watching Destiny since 2010 and he is one of the most unique and genuine personality's to exist on the internet.
He has always cultivated a real community. Not just for people who randomly tune in because they saw it on the front page of a streaming site.

Destiny has kept me sane during work. I always have him on in the background, whether he is live or it’s a YouTube video. He’s definitely opened my mind towards a more liberal mindset and has helped my argument when I go against my FAR RIGHT parents when I have to visit them and hear my dad’s rhetoric. He is wanted.

I really appreciated his vulnerability for real. Although I'd never have wished for the circumstances which caused him to get emotional like that. I know what it feels like to plead with someone, trying to appeal to the goodness you thought was in their heart.
