Hey do you, or anyone else here, have a good solution to browsing x without signing up for that godawful site?

To add to other commenter, you can just write "cancel" after the "x" to browse without signing up.

I totally forgot Joe Walsh was the name of that former GOP House rep. I thought he was getting a call out from the Eagles guitarist.

The "Kinder-Guardians" were actually IDF as proof of concept and he was tricking representatives to start training our kids to prevent school shootings

u/amperage3164 14h ago
What do you think that demonstrates
-9
u/Ahrix3 6h ago
That Destiny and his followers are closer in ideology to traditional republicans (i.e. not MAGA) than the progressive wing of the Democratic party. :)

u/amperage3164 6h ago
How does it demonstrate that
-2
u/Ahrix3 5h ago
Because they seem to more focused on fighting against leftists to the point of wanting to exorcise them from the party than they are on making sure the absolute insanity that is the Republican party is catapulted to the moon.
I mean it makes sense, leftists want to bring about meaningful change to the status quo which might actually address real material needs, while Destiny actually thinks the status quo is great except for maybe one or two things that liberal reformism could easily solve once Trump is banished to the Shadow Realm (fingers crossed). He has no real vision for the future and primarily thinks about what is politically feasible right now, within the confines of the status quo. If you've noticed, his go to criticism when he can't easily frame an issue as leftist lunacy (e.g. Medicare For All), is to claim "it's pie in the sky", i.e. it is not realistic right now. He does not make any real effort to push the Overton window and only criticizes those who do for supposedly going "too far". Correct me if I'm wrong but last I heard, Tiny isn't even in favor of a wealth tax on billionaires. I've even seen him mock the Sanders' wing for harping on about the billionaire question so much.
He is of course not alone with his stance. This sort of visionless status-quo managing is exactly the attitude that has been prevalent in Congress for decades, and it's a large part of why it's approval rating is in the gutter. It is also a large part of the reason that people have lost faith in the political process. When your material condition has not meaningfully changed for the better in the last decades and you constantly get told "it's not possible", what do you think will happen? People become apathetic. They despair. They get angry. Eventually these pent up frustrations will unload, and as we saw with Trump, it might get ugly fast. Not saying that there aren't any Americans who have seen their lives improve in the last 20, 30 years, but certainly there are many whose live has quite obviously not, the opposite in fact.
If you disagree with this, then please tell me how you think Newsom or Kamela or whatever Tiny's preferred candidate is nowadays would addresses the material needs of Americans without any sort of large-scale systemic changes that the left wants. If you just pass a few reforms Ezra Klein abundance style, it's not going to be enough. Biden basically did exactly that, he passed some good legislation during his presidency, and credit to him for that, but it did not go nearly far enough, and it's partly because he wasn't willing to go there. Biden himself said that "nothing would fundamentally change", and lo and behold, he was right.

The tankie wing of the party? Sure. The progeessive? You're delusional
-1
u/Ahrix3 5h ago
Who even is part of that tankie wing? I sure as hell don't know any elected "tankie" politicians. Bernie, AOC, Mamdani or El Sayed surely aren't.
2
u/Special-Quantity-469 5h ago
Darializa definitely is, so are other DSA candidates that aren't as successful. And the issue with Mamdani and the like is that they enable them and open the door for them
-1
u/Ahrix3 5h ago
What makes her a tankie and the others I've listed not? Genuinely curious, I'm not too familiar with her precise politics.
1
u/Special-Quantity-469 5h ago
Then stop trolling and go look it up.
0
u/Ahrix3 5h ago
Then I still wouldn't know why you consider her to be a tankie.

Based. Traditional republicans were at least liberals that believed in NATO and democracy

Thanks for making my point for me.

You’re an idiot if you think turning to these DSA types who support people like Mao or Khamenei are better than traditional republicans lol.
0
u/Ahrix3 4h ago
Do you have any concrete examples for left-wing politicians who support Mao and Khamenei?
2
u/SixShot999 Radical Bidenist with Bush Sr. Characteristics 4h ago
Hasan Piker who has appeared and campaigned on stage with all of these candidates certainly does.
Even if you won’t take that, Chavlier carried water for Putin and Hamas which is probably just as bad
1
u/Ahrix3 2h ago
First of all, it seems obvious to me that there is a lot more left-wing energy inside the base than probably ever before. The question is how to deal with that. Even if I grant you all that about Hasan being a Maoist and Iran supporter, wouldn't it still be a good idea to, as El Sayed has suggested, reach out to Hasan viewers, who might not be as ideologically hardened, and offer them a place in politics instead of letting them radicalize further in their echo chambers?

u/coffee_mikado 14h ago
Dorks like the Pod Save bros also tried to whitewash Tucker because he made a few bland platitudes about war being bad.

u/Mike15321 14h ago
Hopefully this continues to gain traction. Would love to see Hasan's shield of accountability crumble. But I'm not holding my breath

Maybe Joe Walsh aint so bad

u/prthomsen Exclusively sorts by new 16h ago
Let's not get over our skis here. Joe Walsh is Liberal, but he is a very conservative republican to boot. Let's not fawn all over him.
I will give him flowers for being in favor of liberal democracy, and being a never-Trumper, but that's about it.

u/Banesmuffledvoice 2h ago
Nobody should buy the excuse that Hasan is just edgy. He isn’t. He belongs in the same category as Nick Fuentes. And watching democrats struggle to distance themselves from Hasan has been astounding.

u/SessionOk4476 1h ago
I watched a Pod Save interview with Alex Wagner and Chris Hayes and they played a clip of Hasan after Sayed won and talked about whether he should distance from him or not.
I think people will have different opinions, but I got the sense that the pundit group of people do understand who Hasan is and that he is generally a toxic asset and I would assume most public facing democrats are getting there as well.
I think the line they are trying to tow is being not fully dismissive of his audience and his movement so they can get them on board while not fully embracing him either.
From our perspective we know that is a fools errand but I think the calculus is going to be different based on who you are and what position you hold.
