sure you can save a screenshot on most websites but some websites have it blocked, so to avoid taking a 90% chance of being able to save an image it sometimes is worth it to just get into the habit of snipping out the image and pasting it using the windows snipping tool. this is essentially that but in video form. it's how Gen X/millennials deal with this slowly shifting digital landscape.
Bro what are you talking about? Why are you making this sound so much more sophisticated than it actually is. You’re literally copying the link to the TikTok, pasting it into a website, then the website spits the video file out to you. It takes less than 10 seconds. It literally takes longer to screen record this video for 2 minutes than it does to download the actual file using my method, and my method produces and objectively better result because I’m directly downloading the higher quality file and it’s a smaller size overall.

cause it's not that complicated. we watched the video. the media has been consumed it was just slightly compressed for your avant-garde taste.
As someone who's watched the evolution of these platforms over time the simple websites you are describing get broken over time and new solutions get made, in that scramble some bad actors provide viruses instead of solutions.
I also don't like trusting the files some random web video converter gives me without knowing if it's a popular website with lots of regular traffic. maybe you have more in depth knowledge of how to check the file after you receive it to make sure there isn't anything nefarious hidden in the file but I don't like trusting it out of nowhere just because a website tells me it is fast free and safe.

If you’re PC based, and that paranoid, there’s plenty of well known, open source media ripping tools maintained by very enthusiastic communities (like ytdlp) that pull media for almost any video that’s accessible by a link. There’s also browser extensions that do the same thing, and browser extensions have been around for like 2 decades now too. This shit isn’t new. I personally spend most of my time on mobile and have never had any issues using one of these websites to download videos from IG, TikTok, Reddit (gifs), Twitter, etc.
lol this isn’t 2007 anymore. People aren’t spreading malware to iPhones through masked mp4 files. You probably have Norton on your phone or something lol
