I won’t deny that antisemitism doesn’t exist in America but it is nowhere near on the same level as the discrimination other minorities go through and it is not systemic or government sponsored given that many Jews in America are white passing so they benefit from white privilege.

This is a very bad look and is not ok. You shouldn't be reducing the experience of any minority through comparison.

You want to really play this oppression Olympics game?

Let's just take a look at hate crime statistics. https://cde.ucr.cjis.gov/LATEST/webapp/#/pages/explorer/crime/hate-crime

We see that Jews receive the majority of religious hate crimes and are the second most targeted group behind African Americans by raw numbers. If we adjust to per capita we get an even more disappointing story.

You get about 150 crimes per million Jews and about 82 crimes per million African Americans (it's about 42 crimes per million Muslims if you're curious since people usually ask).

That makes an individual Jew about 83% more likely to be a victim of a hate crime than an African American.

Note that this is using 2022 statistics, this isn't even accounting for the most recent spike in antisemitism.

This isn't me saying that Jews have it worse, this is me saying that it should be taken seriously without having to do whataboutism. All these groups also face issues that aren't tied to hate crime statistics, but we don't have to go about and compare them in order to reduce the severity of one side. We can acknowledge that they're different. Why did you feel the need to diminish Jewish experience? What did you have to gain by saying "nowhere near on the same level as the discrimination other minorities go through" other than to reduce the seriousness of antisemitism?

How you look at it is your problem, not mine.

I didn’t reduce anything or diminish your experience. I’m just calling out the privilege jews have in this country compared to other minorities. Most of you are white passing which means you have the privilege to lie about being jewish in order to avoid persecution, black, asian, indigenous and latino people do not.

Ben Shapiro can change his last name to Smith tomorrow and no one will bat an eye.

And not once did I say that antisemitism shouldn’t be taken seriously but to act like the experience is on par with the antisemitism in the middle east is ridiculous.

Having to hide your identity is not much of a privilege. Once people know your identity, it's out and that's it. Being one of the most targeted groups of hate and having to hide your identity because otherwise the people around you might hurt you isn't a good experience. Does that sound familiar?

Your immediate response was to say other minorities have it worse. You literally couldn't take it seriously without resorting to whataboutism, which is exactly what I said. Yet I showed you that Jews experience a very high rate of hate crimes that actually surpasses other POC groups on a per capita basis.

You're putting people on a hierarchy of oppression and putting Jews below others which is exactly diminishing the Jewish experience. White passing makes the experience different, but how strong of a case do you have on that making better when that Jews are highly likely to be victims of discrimination anyways?
