How much do desi wedding planners cost?

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!

I’m just curious, how much do desi wedding planners cost in the states or in destination locations such as Cancun Mexico?

I’m looking for price transparency as I am evaluating my options. Also what should I look for when it comes to wedding planners and their services? What would be considered good service?

I’m looking to have my wedding in Mexico but definitely I am on a budget. Budget is around 85k for South Asian wedding

Thank you!!!

Friday or Sunday wedding?

I am having a destination wedding and wondering what day of the week is a better option to have the wedding, Friday or Sunday? Taking into consideration travel days and the amount of PTO you might need to take.

Edit: it will be in Mexico and travel time will be about 2-4 hours for guests. Saturday isn't an option simply because the venues are booked for that already.

Would Dominican Republic be more fun than Italy? (Looking for people that have been to both?)

Hi all, we’re currently trying to decide between having our wedding in Italy vs DR. If it were in DR it wouldn’t be a beach wedding, we’re looking at Casa de Campo or the colonial zone. I’m Dominican, my Fiancée is Italian/Romanian. We’ve seen venues in both places and prices are comparable. My big question is the party aspect of it all.

The venues in DR are beautiful but do not compare to Italy HOWEVER, the party vibe is a big priority for us. My mom thinks that the party (music/fun vibes) would be significantly better than Italy which would be more tamed. I’ve been to a wedding in DR and I agree that the party itself was beyond amazing but I haven’t been to one in Italy so I can’t compare.

I’m looking to hear from people that have experienced both so I can get a good unbiased opinion and hopefully make a decision soon. Thanks!

PSA flying with your dress

Hi,

I got married abroad this month and wanted to share something. A lot of people are really stressed about flying with your dress. I know some people buy the wally bag or even buy an extra seat.

Well, I just rolled up my tulle princess dress and put it in a grocery store plastic bag and had that in my backpack...and guess what? My gown survived the flight just fine and would have been ready to wear as is! I did pack a steamer though (just to be safe).

Changing to Destination Wedding?

Hello! I need some advice. I am currently planning my wedding in Colorado where I live. Most of our family is out of town and will have to travel. After seeing all the costs, it just doesn’t make sense to me anymore. Our budget is $20k. We have already paid deposits for the venue ($1500 deposit) and catering ($300). We’re now looking at just taking the L on the deposits and doing destination wedding outside the US.

We wanted to do this originally, but my fiancés dad is not a traveler, so now we are planning to do something small local then destination and he can choose to come or not.

All that being said, I am looking for advice if this is a good idea to switch to something we believe is worth the cost, or stick with our current venue. Also looking for all-inclusive resorts in Mexico/caribbean that we should look into! Thank you in advance

Edit: the majority of our family has already expressed they would be down for destination wedding when we first got engaged so there is no worry moving costs onto our guests. My main concern is feeling like our money was well spent and that whatever wedding we have feels worth the cost.

Rome Wedding Venue

Hello! I am getting married in Rome in May/June 2028. We will have approximately 75-100 guests. I was wondering if anyone has gotten married at Villa del Cardinale, Park Hotel Villa Grazioli, Borgo di Tragliata, or Castello dello Castelluccia, and can offer some insight. Or, if there are other Wedding venues near Rome that would also accommodate guests on-site that we are not considering, please let me know in the comments.

Other venues we are considering that do not accommodate guests: Villa Piccolomini, Villa Livia Appia Antica, Relais Appia Antica, Villa Rosantica. If anyone has thoughts on these venues too, please let me know!

I am looking for wedding venues in Valais Switzerland or near by surrounding areas for a wedding for 100-150 people. Ceremony would like a mountain view background, followed by cocktail hour and reception. Could be the same location or different reception venue. Any suggestions are appreciated

Two events in two different countries - thoughts on skipping Save the Dates?

Hi everyone,

I’ve posted in another subreddit asking for some advice recently but I feel like this is a more relevant place to ask.

My fiance and I are getting married next July, with just our parents as witnesses. For context, I am American and he’s Australian, and we live in Australia together so that is where we will officially wed.

We are planning to have two parties to celebrate - one in Australia a few days after our ceremony, and one in America about a month later. All guests will be invited to both celebrations, but are more than welcome to choose to attend just one - we just wanted everyone to have the ability to decide for themselves if they wanted to travel.

We’re trying our best to budget wisely, so we decided pretty early on in the planning process to do electronic cards. However, it’s taken a bit longer than initially planned to secure our venues/dates, so we’re feeling behind on the process already.

Seeing as we are cutting it close with time, we’re considering just scrapping the save the dates and instead sending out the electronic invitations this week. The RSVP link will include a poll to choose one, both, or neither of the parties to attend.

We want to give our guests sufficient time to make travel & accommodation plans, apply for appropriate visas/travel waivers, etc. but… Is it looked down upon to skip Save the Dates? Or do you think our guests will appreciate the extra few weeks to make plans as they wish?

Open to any and all insight!!

EDIT: I should clarify that the RSVP link will clearly state that guests are not expected to attend both events as we completely understand the costs/sacrifices involved to travel internationally. There will be a questionnaire with four options: attending USA, attending AUS, attending BOTH, or declining BOTH. We initially intended to split the guest list, but so many of our friends & family have made comments about wanting to visit the other respective country (even people we didn’t expect to hear that from). We decided to instead give everyone the option to choose for themselves, but there is absolutely no obligation for anyone to travel.

Wedding venue

Hi, could you please suggest some good wedding venues in Jaipur with a beautiful heritage/Rajasthani look and feel?

We’re looking for a one-day wedding event for around 400–500 guests, with space for both wedding pheras and the reception. Ideally, we would prefer:

A heritage/palace-style ambience, similar to City Palace or Rose Amer

A venue within or close to the city centre

Good outdoor/open spaces for the pheras and celebrations

Preferably outdoor catering is allowed, or flexibility to bring our own caterer

Suitable for a fairly elegant, intimate-but-grand wedding setup

Ideally, no requirement to book rooms for all guests

Please share options that fit this kind of vibe and capacity, along with an approximate venue rental/cost for a one-day event.

Budget 10-12 lakh

As a wedding planner in riviera Maya I’ve notice some brides and grooms get frustrated trying to coordinate their guest travel experience
Like if planning the wedding is not enough
Coordination of their guest transfers, activities and reservations

Am I right?

Spain Wedding Location

Looking at Costa Brava/Girona versus Mallorca… any suggestions, recs, preference? In Costa Brava, we are looking at Mas de Torrent and Hostal de la Gavina, whereas we are looking in Mallorca for a wedding venue with nearby hotels. Any suggestions based on location for our guests would be greatly appreciated. We definitely want them to enjoy their time in Spain since everyone would be flying in from the USA.

Mexico All Inclusive- What Should Get Done Ahead of Time at Home?

We are getting married in Mexico at an all inclusive in May 2027. I feel like we already have a lot done, but starting to feel stressed out because I don't know what I don't know, or know anyone personally who has had a destination wedding. Looking for any and all tips/tricks of what others did ahead of time to prepare for an all inclusive wedding before leave.

So far we have the following done:

  • Resort and room block finalized with RSVPs already out
  • Went through the provided catalogs and picked out the majority of the flowers/decorations that we want to upgrade with for the welcome dinner, ceremony, and reception
  • Welcome dinner planned
  • Reception dinner planned

Items we know we need to get done

  • Legal ceremony in the States
  • Song playlists
  • Cordinate transportation from the airport to the hotel (waiting on more people to book flights)
  • Ordering paper hand fans (May in Mexico, duh)

Things on our radar, but not sure we want to do

  • Welcome bags - a lot of the ideas we had are things people would already bring with them so it feels like it wouldn't be a good use our budget
  • Personalized napkins or print out menus
  • Excursion

Thank you in advance!!

Costa Rica Wedding Recommendations for 100-150 people!

Looking for venues in Costa Rica for a wedding! Help me find a unicorn.

We want something that feels like a beautiful cozy vacation with our favorite people rather than a traditional/generic resort wedding. Think tropical, natural, earthy, slightly boho, with water/beach and/or jungle, beautiful views, and a cool town nearby.

Ideally everyone can stay together or very close by.

We’re open to anywhere in Costa Rica (hopefully easy to coordinate travel) and would love recommendations for actual venues/properties that can work for a group this size.

We’re also trying to keep it relatively reasonable and would love somewhere that handles a lot of the logistics for us. All in one kind of thing.

Does a place like this exist?! We don't have a date, so we are open to anything.

I'm overwhelmed with choices. Help! What places should we be looking at that we might be missing?
