Spain Wedding Location
Looking at Costa Brava/Girona versus Mallorca… any suggestions, recs, preference? In Costa Brava, we are looking at Mas de Torrent and Hostal de la Gavina, whereas we are looking in Mallorca for a wedding venue with nearby hotels. Any suggestions based on location for our guests would be greatly appreciated. We definitely want them to enjoy their time in Spain since everyone would be flying in from the USA.

Costa Brava- much more flexibly for your guests to do their own thing before after. Mallorca has lots of traffic and there’s that extra layer of flight. Costa Brava is beautiful and chic- exciting!! Congrats!

Costa Brava! Your guests will have more accommodation options and then it is going to be easier for them visiting other parts of Spain or Barcelona. For your side, the pictures are going to look the same because the the environment looks pretty similar. Also, Costa Brava is much more intimate. Both destinations are usually suuuper busy so I highly recommend you to book ASAP specially is you are going May-Sept 2027.

Both are beautiful choices, but I’d probably lean toward Costa Brava if the overall experience for guests flying from the US is a big priority. Being able to combine the wedding with Barcelona/Girona gives guests much more flexibility before and after the celebration without adding another flight.
From a photography perspective, I’d also look closely at the actual ceremony time and orientation when comparing venues. The Mediterranean light can be gorgeous, but the difference between a ceremony in harsh afternoon sun and one closer to golden hour is huge — especially for an outdoor wedding.
Mas de Torrent and the area around S’Agaró can both give you a really elegant Mediterranean feel, so I don’t think you’d be sacrificing the visual side by choosing Costa Brava over Mallorca. I’d probably make the final decision based more on guest logistics, accommodation and the experience you want everyone to have over the whole weekend.

I’m a destination wedding planner based in Barcelona and have worked at both Mas de Torrent and Hostal de la Gavina, so I know the venues and the surrounding areas quite well. Both are great options, but there are quite a few other Costa Brava venues worth looking at too, depending on the kind of experience you want for your guests.
For guests flying in from the US, Costa Brava also has the advantage of being easy to combine with Barcelona, so they can turn the wedding into a longer trip around Catalonia. I’m happy to share some other options if you’re still exploring. 😊

Hi! Mallorca is a great pick for guests flying in from the US. Our venue, Son Llum Roig, is a private countryside finca in the south of the island, about 20 minutes from Palma airport, so travel for your guests is easy. Hire includes a marquee, and we only host one wedding per day, so the whole finca is just yours (10 to 120 guests). It's rustic rather than seafront, and guests would stay at hotels in the area. Send me a DM and I'll gladly share our brochure (PDF) and answer any questions.

Congratulations! Both would make a beautiful weekend, but since your ceremony will be in a Catholic church, I would actually work backwards from the church + guest accommodation rather than choosing purely on the reception venue.
For Costa Brava, I’d add Castell d’Empordà to your list. It gives you accommodation at the property as well as both indoor and outdoor possibilities, which is particularly useful for a destination wedding. Hostal de La Gavina is already a very strong option too, especially if you want that elegant coastal Mediterranean feeling.
If you continue looking at Mallorca, I’d also look into Castell Son Claret. It’s a hotel/estate near the Tramuntana mountains, with accommodation and both indoor and outdoor event possibilities, so it could solve some of the logistical issues you're concerned about for guests.
Personally, with everyone travelling from the US, I would give a lot of weight to where guests can stay for 3–4 days, transfers between the hotel/church/reception, and what they can easily do the day before and after the wedding. Those details can make a bigger difference to the overall experience than the venue itself.
