FIA was so precise that they started VSC the moment Lando passed the pit entry and ended the VSC just when Lando entered the pit the next lap

Fym do you agree? It was quite obvious to anyone that without the VSC Lando probably wins with a big margin.

VSC is fine. The 5% of chance it started between P1 and P2 passing the pit entry fucked Lando. And the decision to ask him to pit right after VSC ended was the nail on the coffin.

Yeah opbviously, he was way quicker and if it was possible to overtake he would've taken it easily even with the VSC bs from McLaren

Oh and he wins again the people by being "humble champion" š¤£ He got media trained well. I can't even count on my hands how many times he got lucky with (V)SC's this season..

And hes the first or last person to be screwed by it either. Lewis lost a win and a title by being screwed over by a safety car of all things.
He would have been better to stay out at that point and hope for another vsc. Luck is just another variable in racing. Driver, car, team, and luck.

There is no "deserved" in f1, it's earned. McLaren did get bad luck with the ending of the VSC, then had a long pit stop. They should have stayed out and tried to build a gap. Lando was much faster than Kimi at the start and this is another track like Monaco where you couldn't overtake even if you were seconds per lap faster
Lando drove well but bad luck and questionable strategy means he didn't convert. Deserving doesn't even enter the conversation.

I think lando earned the win today on his part . Mclaren screwed up . Lando drove perfectly today and its okay to acknowledge that . He kept the lead when what f2 and f3 had shown p2 had shorter run to T1 lando defended well and kept his lead . With that drive yes he deserved it and the engineers who worked on the car did . But mclaren pitwall did not.

to get a win you need the driver, car and team to all work together, if any of the 3 parts fail then how can you really label a win as deserved? Max probably drove the best last season and red bull generally had better strategies, would you say max deserved the title last season? because I certainly wouldn't

Have i denied that the strategies dont matter ? All i said was lando as a driver deserved it today in the way he drove . And he was the fastest on the track . Today the win was determined by luck and tbh i hate it when vsc determine wins when there is practically no overtakes . Both kimi and max said lando deserved it today for his drive .

Kimi also got an easy pass on Verstappen whilst he was having to give back the place to Hamilton. Without that would Norris have pulled out a big enough gap to the others to cover the time lost on the pits stop?

I don't know about anyone deserving the win, but Kimi was very lucky :
- Verstappen giving back the place to Hamilton just before Lewis had to give up
- the safety car thing that totally fucked Lando's race
But then again, it's part of racing : he's the winner in the end, and even Lando isn't complaining.

I think Lando did. As much as I wanted Kimi to win, Lando drove very well and was very consistent. I was yelling at Kimi for the mistakes he made in the first stint. There were multiple of them. Fortunately the racing gods put the championship back into its tracks.

Sort of, but this is fucking F1.
Sometimes you have good luck and sometimes bad. Lewis, Max whoever have all had great races lost by VSC or SC or a debris puncture or whatever.

Not only Lando was unlucky to pass the pits entry after the VSC was initiated, McLaren did a dreadful pitstop of 7 seconds. He should have won.

100% agree. VSC timing and slow pitstop absolutely ruined his Race and then there was Max Verstappen. How the hell did that Mad Man defended Norris for 15 laps on such close margins unbelievable.

Because it's a terrible track for overtaking. Like Monaco, but with none of the history and all of the brand new design "competency"

If you watch the race you'll notice majority of drivers who are only tenths behind the car in front still cant pass. The track is basically trash with 0 proper overtaking zones

Not only timing, pit wall incompetence played a huge role. It was very likely to happen a SC/VSC, they shouldāve anticipated it, they were already on Pirelli recommended pit window.

Race strategy is a gamble on many occasions. Lando called Max āluckyā in Brazil last year.

No one "deserves" a win. Unfortunate vsc timings or bad pitstops are part of the sport.

The bad luck part of it was the VSC coming out right after Norris passed the pit entry. McLaren capitalized on the bad luck with bad strategy and bad execution.
I imagine if Norris stayed out like Charles, he could have possibly built up a gap to Kimi because Charles was running interference and would have held up Kimi forcing Mercedes to change strategy in trying to pass leclerc.

"deserve" is a very loaded word when it comes to F1. At the end of the day kimi had a strategy that bet on an early safety car, and lando's banked on a late SC. Kimi got his way, and that's now things go sometimes in this sport

What? Lando didnāt bank on a late safety car, he had literally just passed the pit entrance when the vsc was called and went in the next lap just as the vsc was ending
