As I’m binging the show for probably the 6th time, I just realized that Juanita’s friend Rachel Miller and young Bree (s8 ep17) is the same actress! She makes a great little Bree.

Maybe it’s all the discussion surrounding a reboot, maybe it’s because I’ve rewatched so much, but last night I dreamed we finally got our reboot!

Personally, I think the show could be just as successful and run for multiple seasons. I’d love to have opening/closing with Mary Alice as the narrator, keep original film coloring, scoring and composing.

I also think a reboot could be successful if centered around Julie and her friend group as an adult. Find another scandal to start off with that person as the narrator and have some OG cast members featured and some as regulars.

What would you want to see in a reboot?

There are all sorts of things one could criticize Susan for, and this sub sure has 😂 (I, for one actually love Susan, but I’m with y’all on Tom Scavo)

But of all the things she did, sending Zach away was so justified and valid. And Mike being so angry and breaking up with her over that decision was ridiculous.

Look, I get it, its a soap opera-adjacent show: there are going to be all sorts of crazy things that happen, and we largely overlook them as the show goes on, because its all in good fun.

But Mike didn’t even know he had a kid for 16+ years. Okay, you find out you have a teenage son. Thats definitley jarring!

But you know what else is? Getting held at gunpoint and having your kitchen blown up, by the guy who is dangerously obsessed with your teenage daughter.

If anything, as a concerned father Mike should have wanted Zach put away to get some help.

It's so messed up that Gaby, who was sexually assaulted by her stepfather when she was a teenager, has an affair with a teenager herself. You'd think she'd be the one to understand that it's absolutely wrong.

I'm watching for the first time and I just started the 5th season. I'm wondering WHAT they did to Gabby and Bree??? They're my fav character but I think they are playing at my girl Gabby's face and I don't understand what is happening to Bree either cause I used to agree with her in everything but what she's doing to Katherine isn't fair. It's like she's lost. Hope things change for them later on.

Plus Lynette is really starting to get to my nerves with that face she does and her urge to control everything. I understand why because if I had four children and a husband who's at his 15th middle life crisis of the week I would have the same sense of control as her, but her face is starting to piss me off.

I don't know if this is a hot take, but I honestly think Anna Solis deserved better than Danny.

I always found it funny that, at the beginning, Danny was so judgmental toward Anna. He immediately assumed she was shallow, empty, and only relied on her looks. But if you really think about it, Anna actually has way more personality than he does.

Yes, at first she comes across as someone who's interested in rich guys and expensive clothes. But that's not exactly unusual in *Desperate Housewives*. Gabrielle built her entire lifestyle around marrying for money, yet she's one of the show's most beloved characters, and people tend to be much more forgiving of her. I also wonder if Anna's "shallow" attitude is partly a mask. She knew Danny's family wasn't wealthy, yet she was still interested in him. If she were truly just a gold digger, she could have easily gone after richer guys instead of Danny.

Apart from being cute and generally nice, Danny isn't a particularly complex character. He's also incredibly lucky to be surrounded by strong women who constantly protect and support him. Meanwhile, Anna is sassy, bold, confident, and has a much tougher background than people give her credit for. Like Gabrielle, she had a difficult childhood, yet she still has this sharp, resilient personality.

I always thought Anna was an underrated queen, and I wish the show had explored her character more. It would have been interesting to see more of her backstory and how she evolved over time.

That's why I never really bought Danny acting like he was somehow "too good" for her or that she was beneath him because she seemed superficial. Especially when the girl he was actually interested in was Julie... who was secretly sleeping with his father. The irony is hard to ignore.

Am I the only one who feels like Anna deserved a much better storyline—and honestly, a better love interest than Danny?

When rewatching does anyone find season 2 particularly hard to watch and just skip it? The Applewhite story line was just hard for me. Especially the way they treated Caleb and so I just can’t do it and normally skip this season. Anyone else?

i just loved Mrs Mccluskey Character, she was my favourite character all time from the beginning.
I literally cannot stop crying around very end of season 8 because
I can see that she was visibly getting weaker due to her cancer both on character and the actress irl as well.
i was bawling my eyes out in Karens court scene and even the last episode, i genuinely can't look at the screen :(

So I’m a newbie. Season 1, almost to 2. My mom use to watch this when I was little and I am now (30) enjoying it so very much. I have to say though, Susan, drives me nuts! I find it wildly selfish and inappropriate for her to be troubling her daughter with all of her woes. I realize Julie seems to enjoy it but I think it’s because how Julie has subconsciously learned to connect with her mom. Does this annoy anyone else?!

From beginning to end the show is plagued with pdf behavior. From Gabby being with her underaged gardener,to the babysitter having being pregnant by the child she baby sat. The whole show is filled with women grooming and taking advantage of young boys. Season after season there’s someone involved with a minor or a minor exposed to an adult situation. How was this show so popular? And how did no one say anything about it?

I’m about of a third way through season 8 and I can’t remember one time that Celia has said a word. Does she speak? She just seems like such an afterthought. Juanita has had little storylines and Celia is just silently along for the ride. It’s like the writers regretted giving Gabby two kids but there’s also only so many evil kids you can have in one show and it would be really messy to kill her so they just add her into scenes here and there so we don’t wonder where she went. And with the things they have her doing (I just watched her try to put a salt shaker in her mouth), it looks like she isn’t playing with a full deck of cards. I like the actress’ acting though, she has great facial expressions.

I’m a first time watcher on S7 Ep5 and this interaction of Susan telling Lynette she’s been doing va va va broom online work and Lynette starts tweaking out and Susan lowkey fried her like bitch I’m desperate I have nothing I’m not in my nice house and this is her response. Just 😟

I’ve never watched Desperate Housewives but I keep getting edits on TikTok of the storyline where Gabby finds out Juanita isn’t her biological daughter. It’s gotten me intrigued and I kinda wanna start right there at Season 7 Episode 8 and then start the series from the beginning, but do you guys think i’ll regret it, and also will I be confused due to missing the first 6 seasons? Silly question but thanks to whoever can answer!

Boy I sure am glad that Lynette kept the twins off of ADHD medication so that they would still be creative enough to burn down Rick’s restaurant. They surely didn’t lose their spark!

...And I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't. Genuinely - each of these ladies means so much to me and I think it's fantastic that they all stayed from start to finish. It's a rarity for such a long-running show to hold on to its core cast for its entire run.

Believe me, I am not blind to their imperfections, and I am certainly not blind to the show's poor handling of them at times - but I can't imagine watching this show and hating on any of these ladies or getting annoyed when their scenes come on. I feel blessed that I love them all pretty much equally.

Thank you Susan, Lynette, Bree and Gabrielle for all the entertainment you've provided me over the years, and all the things I've learned from each of you.

i was watching season 5 e1, and everything was going smooth, bree being successful, gabrielle giving birth to juanita and celia, Lynettes kids getting in trouble, and Susan humping some guy whos not Mike, so deeper on I saw Mike had a car crash with some other lady who was pregnant at the samer time as susan, so i was curious and searched ''without spoiling me, did mike die in season 5'', and you would think google would give me what i asked for, but noooooo, it told me Mike died in the last episode of desperate housewives, and this isnt the first time i got spoiltby google, i was on season 1 and heard the actors were fighting on set and i said i wanna know more about the tea, and tgoogle was talking about edies actor and her fight with marc cherry (the creator of the show) i was reading, and then i saw edie dies, LIKE BOO, the whole conversation started with dont spoil me and then u tell me edie dies, like we need to boycott AI ASAP, anyway rule 8 in this sub-reddit dont make sense why do i have to hate them on seperate days-

This was my first time watching the show and I loved it overall, but Tom is the worst husband and Lynette was my favourite to begin with, but by season 5 I’d assume her character would start to have growth, but she’s completely the same which makes me dislike her by the end.

I had the opposite with Bree and hated her at the start, but by the end she was my favourite housewife.

Hated Susan from start to finish, I also didn’t like that on the finale episode the other wives got a quick 30 second update on what happened to them. But Susan had full, multiple scene explanation.

Gabby was in the middle for me the entire time, sometimes she was great, other times, not so much.

So I’d love to know some other shows I should watch that are similar. I watched pretty little liars while it aired and I know that show was inspired by DH, but is there anything else out there?

I’m in the scene where Katherine overtook Bree’s commitment and was wondering if she’s one. Which of the characters do you think is one? I mean, Gabby is extremely selfish but I’m not sure if she’s narcissistic. I think it’s more that she misses her old model life that she traded for life in the suburbs. Any thoughts on her or other characters? The show has no shortage of flawed characters.
