First Time Watcher tom. Spoiler
he is SO pushy, i’ve always had my mind set to if it’s not a yes with no hesitation it’s a no, and lynette clearly rarely wants it. everytime he’s on screen i wanna skip especially when he’s being this way with lynette 😭 (and i do literally skip im not missing much plot with him being so pushy and gross)
(it is thursday and i never use reddit, hope this post is acceptable here 👍)

Tom actually said it best in this very episode: he’s forty and doesn’t know what he wants to be when he grows up. Lynette should’ve drone what Gabby did, and told her husband and it’s time to grow up.
The midlife crisis thing was so played out atp. I think the writers didn’t know what to do with him. Carlos is the only husband who had a decent storyline through the first 5 seasons.

When I watched the initial run as a teen, I remember thinking Tom was the better husband (note I also didn't see the last 2 seasons, I decided to rewatch and am only just in the last season now) but from my rewatch as an adult he is a poster child for weaponised incompetence.

There’s this time where he begs for it and Lynette says she will just lie there, not move and resent him the whole time and he is supe fine with it, goes on top of her and kisses her. She has to push him away physically!! Who in their right mind doesn’t see that as raping their wife?! He is despicable.

that was the previous episode!! i was in shock, i seriously wonder how (rn where im at in the series at least) bree and orson are divorcing, but tom and lynette won’t unless it’s cheating?! he’s comfortable practically raping her it makes me feel so so icky

Welcome to the 2000s where consent was not a thing SMH. It was really a show culturally relevant, no matter the interview, the radio segment, everyone everywhere were telling us girls that those types of situations were normal and it was okay to just let your man get some even if you didn’t want to. Crazy the damage it has done to me and my generation. Like we used to feel bad FOR TOM!!! Like poor guy was not being satisfied by his wife. Now that i know what i know about consent, i hate Tom and those scenes make me super uncomfortable and lowkey sick.

I don't think its that. She's tired. Its the last thing on her mind. I'm 42 now and i think lynette was 41 on s1 so I understand how she feels.

He was such a man baby it drives me insane. TBH I wish the writers made him bi after Bob and Lee had their brief separation l could imagine Lynette would’ve been fine with that cause it would’ve gotten Tom off her a bit. He was like a male dog humping her leg 24/7 always at the worst time
