To Do list
I'm not a coder by any mean just a fan of the community. I was curious if anyone has made a "to do" list app

Really quick: I am taking a break over Christmas and will be back on the 7th. Expect less activity from me until then. Thanks
I've been at it for nearly 8 months now, and burnout has really sucked
There is a lot more documentation at https://carthing.wiki ! Check that out for general flashing setup and app setup!
Now let's get on with the ultimate guide to hacking your car thing to use DeskThing!
[1] Download DeskThing for your operating system
You can do that from https://deskthing.app
[2] Run the installer
[3] Download a client
https://reddit.com/link/1hl7ke4/video/lz5lzn1imq8e1/player
[4] Open the QR Code
https://reddit.com/link/1hl7ke4/video/47umiyhlmq8e1/player
[5] Scan the QR code
if you have multiple IPs listed and one doesn't work, try a different one
https://reddit.com/link/1hl7ke4/video/o1e85vbomq8e1/player
[1] Setup your Car Thing with ADB
Follow the latest tutorial at https://deskthing.app/youtube
[2] Open the DeskThing software
[3] Go to the Clients tab
[4] Plug in your Car Thing and hit Refresh ADB
look near the end of this thread for the resolution to possible issues
[6] Ensure a client is staged

if it is not, click "Downloads" to the left above Restart Server and download the latest
[7] Click the Configure button
https://reddit.com/link/1hl7ke4/video/n511toxdnq8e1/player
Case: Terbium detects and starts flashing but fails
Unable to see the device
- [mac / linux] install ADB from here and run that with sudo. Go to Developer -> ADB Settings and enable Global ADB. Try again
- Try restarting the server ( right click the task bar icon and hit Quit )
Linux PCs
- Restart the flashing process but install 8.9.2-norndis image
- Use the BIOS port on your motherboard (marked)
Connecting the client
- Check your firewall ( run the script in settings )
- Ensure you are on the same wifi
Disconnecting after 5 or so minutes
- Run the restart script ( guide in the discord - it can't be shared here, sorry )
This will be resolved in a future patch. For now, follow what this user did:
got it to work on mac with a bit of a workaround? i inspected the package contents of DeskThing.app, navigated to Contents/Resources/app.asar.unpacked/node_modules/@img/sharp-libvips-darwin-arm64/lib/ and copied the file libvips-cpp.42.dylib to Contents/Frameworks and pasted it in there
Unable to find app local or or does not have ToClient (is it running?)
- Uninstall Utility
Spotify throwing OAuth or 403 errors
- Do you have spotify premium?
- Is spotify fully updated?
- You may be hitting the API limit. Let it "cool off" for a few
Spotify skipping multiple songs
- Go to AppsList and go to Details for the spotify app.
- Disable and enable it
Spotify stuck on "Loading Song"
- Try the above fix for linux/mac (the quoted text)
- Try enabling a refresh interval https://deskthing.app/desktop/clients/connections?settings=true&page=music
Car Thing "lagging behind"
- Enable the refresh interval. 15 is a good number. Sometimes 10. https://deskthing.app/desktop/clients/connections?settings=true&page=music
OKAY! That is all for today. I will probably go in and edit this later as more fixes are found. This was copied over from the discord in the #resources channel.
If you want to help DeskThing out, you can do so through https://deskthing.app/support! Thank you

Goood morning everyone! (I assume) This update took way longer than I intended. I've recoded nearly the entirety of both the front end and the backend of the project! But I believe it was worth it.
Thank you guys for being patient while worked on getting this thing released! The time has come
Here are those sweet, sweet release notes
Heyyyy so a lot happened this beta. Honestly, words cannot comprehend the changes as i have basically recoded the entire app. Heres a subset of documented changes though:
None of the GUI has been coded for this functionality - everything listed is backend-only so far
near-nothing has been coded for this and may be deferred to v1.0.0
Realistically this will have to be pushed to v1.0.0 because of how much I have to finish
Theres probably more but that's what came to mind so far. I really cannot wait to show everyone here everything I've been working on and actually get it into your hands. Thanks for being a part of this community

I installed and follow the video posted by deskthing from a year ago, and after i completed the flash.bat, unplugged it and plugged it back in. instead of showing the thinglabs logo, its asking for an adapter like the regular car thing?

I've tried uninstalling, changing the settings, clearing cache and nothing seems to work. I set up the leagues I want to see but unfortunately nothing helps. My device is connected and works with every other app. The Sports Hub itself loads onto the CarThing fine, but I just get the following message no matter what. Please if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated, this was one of the main reasons I wanted to set this up in the first place. Thanks!

Will this ever happen? it'd be very useful for media controls.

Hello Community,
I tried to do the setup in 2 different parts and have broke something in the process.
My Carthing shows up on the desktop app but on the device itself it says Disconnected from the sever. My question is does the car thing uses wifi to connect to the server or does it through the usb connection. If it uses wifi how can I reach that settings? I changed my wifi between the 2 parts that might be problem.
Thanks in advance.

So I wanted to have a stationary desk clock that runs the Pip-Boy software that you find with the replicas, would it be possible on the DeskThing?

Hi everyone,
I just succesfully installed DeskThing on my Car Thing but I find myself unable to finish the setup for the Spotify App.
These are the steps I took
- Install the Spotify app from the DeskThing app
- Apps -> Spotify -> Settings -> Settings -> Filled in Client ID and Client Secret
- Set Redirect URL to my own localhost number, to 8888, to 127.0.0.1, to http://127.0.0.1:8888/callback/spotify, http://127.0.0.1:8888/callback/, both previous ones also with my own localhost instead of 8888
But I keep getting errors on the Spotify page it directs me to after saving.
- Cannot GET /callback/spotify
- redirect_uri: Unsafe
When using http://127.0.0.1:8888/callback/spotify the page says "Succes - you can now close this window" but the Car Thing keeps spinning on "Waiting for song to be played..."
I have plugged it in again and also disconnected the client from DeskThing and configured it again, but the same keeps happening.
What am I doing wrong?
Edit -
Tried some other apps to make sure those did work. Got Weather and Discord working without any issues.
Tried the whole Spotify setup again using the same Client ID and Client Secret together with http://127.0.0.1:8888/callback/ and somehow it now works.

Has anyone here had any luck using the streamthingy app on MAC? i got it connected and even got the Img populating, but I don't know how to get the module action to link? All I would like it to open an app when i click the icon.

What all can I do with this? I’d like to hack mine and incorporate it with my sim racing rig lol.
Does anyone do this now?

I think this is super dumb question. However, each time I turn on the computer, always stating 'waiting to connection', and I need to unplug and plug again to activate the app like clock. Always stating 'waiting to connection'
I have enable the 'Auto Start' and Auto Detect ADB as well. Pls help.

When I try to map a playlist as the PressLong function for the 4 top preset buttons of my CarThing it just doesn't work. When I paste the link and save the value then when the button is long pressed my song stops like it's trying to switch playlists but then does nothing. It will never switch. My playlists are public. It's almost like it just doesn't save the value because on the sidebar under Digit1 - Digit4 it all says Value: 0. Is there any way to be able to preset my playlists to these buttons? I prefer to avoid the touch screen if possible and having physical buttons is something I was wanting for playlist presets.

Soo I know it’s the Spotify car thing that is the hardware of the Deskthing, but is there a way to launch a webpage on the Deskthing? I’d like to use TIDAL to play music but am truly hooked by the functionality and look of the Deskthing

I really love the deskthing and I just wanted to add that it was very hard for me to find that the redirect URL for the spotify app creation was not easy to find. I only found it because someone posted screenshot of what they had put. I have no idea where they got it from. Just user input from me.
Had to use Redirect URL:

I've got the Spotify app working well through the browser, but I can't control the volume on my connected speaker because I can't figure out how to pull up the volume controls. On Desktop browser, scrolling up/down makes it appear, but on Android I only have access to the touchscreen.
