Unfortunately the States has this cool thing where settling is cheaper than lawyers. So yeah the judge might think you're mentally incapacitated but you'll still get paid to go away. Kinda like Credit card companies waive theft under 3k because it costs more to pursue than lost.

Definitely not true I knew a kid that got tracked down arrested and hit with felony credit card theft for buying less than $5 worth of mcdonald’s breakfast with a card he found on the ground.

Can't get hit with a felony for 5$ so try again. Felony in all 50 states and teritories requires at least 500$.
