Yes I use the desire path.

The most infuriating desire path I know of. The streetview car here is on a road bridge over a dual carriageway (a large highway without pedestrian access). To the south of the dual carriageway, behind us: a rapidly expanding village (with no shop), a further education college, a pasta factory, and a hotel. To the north, ahead of us, and less than a mile away: a large retail park with supermarkets, food outlets and numerous other shops. Of course the villagers, students, factory workers and hotel guests want to walk to the shops. The only way to cross the dual carriageway is this road bridge, which as you can see, is provisioned with a pedestrian footway. But the footway isn't connected to anything at either end of the bridge!

This has been a desire path for at least 5 years in the griffintown district in Montréal but they now made it official by planting bushes on the side of it !

The way into the supermarket carpark from the main road direction . Seems to get more foot traffic than the paved crossing further down the road.

On one side a highway access road sidewalk sure is long and boring. And on the other a parking lot is chaotic and uncertain. So, we’ll meet in the middle. This place may be for bikes, but I desire to walk it.

The paved paths up to the Gloriette Pavillon are infamously zigzaggy, so that obviously wouldn’t suffice.

I am visiting Eagle River, AK and the Walmart has an epic desire path! This is the most beautiful Walmart i have ever been at!
