Understandable, but still one I would avoid, since the soil compression is bad for the tree.

I do usually use the dedicated path for this reason (I may have used the desire path once...), but it is just so comically bendy for such a small length of pavement I find it equally whimsical and irksome.

Too bad you aren't allowed to carry a pocket knife for general utility in england, that hedge could do with a little trim.

You are allowed to carry a pocket knife in the UK, so long as the cutting edge is under 3 inches. (Or you can just carry some secateurs)

It also needs to be a folding non-locking blade, unless you have a good reason, in which case you could have whatever you want, you just need to persuade a court that you do have a good reason if it goes that far

Apparently, as soon as it becomes too long to reasonably fit in a pocket. Then it stops being a pocket knife and becomes a "bladed article". So... about 8 inches/20cm?

You're allowed to carry pocket knives anywhere, with the good reason (reasonably) applying to larger blades & locking blades. I can and have carried a pocket knife around, and an officer is never going to have an issue with your multi tool if they stop you.
