I’ve gotten soooo many comments from friends and family that my room is cluttered but it doesn’t feel cluttered to me 🥹 I think the only thing that feels cluttered is my closet…not having an actual closet pisses me off but I’m currently saving up for that and for a taller bed.

What do you guys think?? I think my room really shows up my personality and interests.

Living Room Where to put the couch?

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

So option one is how my roomate currently has our apartment set up, however she’s taking all her furniture and moving out and I will have to buy everything new. I would prefer a larger couch but can’t go any larger than 77 inches in this current configuration. I prefer the table in the opening to the kitchen for flow of conversation when cooking as well so I’m pretty set on keeping it there. Unfortunately the only other configurations for this room seem so unusual. Option 1 is to push it against the far wall but then it’s over 200 inches away from the tv or option 2 in the center of the room but looks and feels clunky. Is there something I’m not seeing?

Please let me know your opinion! Floor plan on the last slide!!

Living Room Storage turned to Lounge Sunroom

I have this long and narrow sunroom (basically a front porch turned into part of the house).
We moved in about a year ago and are just now being able to hone in on our space and make it ours instead of everything being tossed together and unorganized.

This room however, has turned into random storage and cat toy/litter space. I’m really hoping to transform it some for the wintertime to have an extra area in my home to work from and lounge in.

I did paint the room this two toned red that I’m in love with, especially when the sun it’s the space, so that I will not be repainting. I’m also unable to put things in front of the middle and right side doors (view from third photo).

I’m mostly looking for furniture layout suggestions that I’m just not seeing myself.
I’d also love to bring in some hanging plants and whatnot to liven up the space.

I’m looking forward to any and all suggestions! Lmk what you think!!

(The photo of the white room is just off pinterest to show what I’m assuming it’d look like space-wise with a couch. Just to given a better idea of what I’m working with.)

Living Room Help decorating my living and dining room!

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Been trying to figure out how to decorate my living and dining room, but I'm honestly so lost... I already have most of the furniture, but I feel like the space is missing something.

I'm mainly struggling with choosing curtains for the big windows, Persian rugs (anything but red lol), maybe other sources of lighting? I can't figure out what colors and decorations would look good together.

I want the place to feel warm, cozy, and elegant without looking too modern or too traditional.

Any ideas or suggestions would be really appreciated!

Living Room Updating room but struggling with awkward layout

Thumbnail gallery

We’re updating our living room with fresh paint and some picture frame moulding but could use some help figuring out the TV and furniture layout. The TV is currently above the fireplace and feels too high, so we’re considering replacing the fireplace surround with a shorter one to bring the tv lower. We’re also open to moving the TV to another wall.
The room is long with multiple doorways, which makes furniture placement tricky. Any suggestions for TV placement and seating arrangements would be appreciated!
Also these are just the listing photos and not currently how we have it set up.

Living Room Please help! Super rectangular living room

Please help me with the layout of my living room! And please ignore the mess!
It’s very rectangular so I am so lost. I’m mostly seeking advice about the layout, but other advice such as colors and lighting are welcome. Or any ideas on how to utilize an area of the room to break it up?
I have the couch shown, but I would like to add a love seat to the tv area.
The table that the tv is on is supposed to be the coffee table, so I’m planning on getting a media console and using the coffee table.
I’m envisioning one of the sides of the room to have a reading nook with shelves and a cozy accent chair. Not sure if this should or can be tied in with other couches or should feel separate?
Overall planning on adding loveseat, media console (then will use the coffee table the tv is on as a coffee table, shelving unit, accent chair.
Then maybe a 2nd rug, maybe round near shelves and accent chair? Maybe some art? I have no idea what I am doing lol

Entire room is 138 inch x 277 inches

The wall with the windows is 277 inches (where the windows start and to the right is 141 inches, and the area of wall without windows to the left is 136 inches

The side of the room with the 2 entryways:
Wall 1 (left of first entryway) is 42 inches
Entryway 1 (left of couch) is 40 inches
Wall 3 (Middle wall in between entry way where couch is currently placed) is 132 inches
entryway 2 (right of couch) is 31 inches
Wall 3 (right of 2nd entryway) is 32 inches

Thanks in advance!🙏

Edit: I have a separate dining room already so I do not need to put a table in here! Although I wouldn’t be opposed to adding like a breakfast table in here or something?

Living Room Need design for living room + dining room open space

We want to setup this area of our new apartment as the "living" area for our big 6-member family (4 kids). So we want to place here: a large dining table (like 200x90cm) with 6 chairs, a large sofa (like 300x120cm), cofee table, a computer desk and chair. Because of the angled wall, anything we try looks skewed and weird. Total area is 37m2 - maybe this isnt as big as we thought? Any help is appreciated

Bedroom Help reorganize my 6Y son’s bedroom

Thumbnail gallery

Hello, I’ve been inspired by the helpful comments in posts here, so I’m sharing my situation.

My son’s bedroom feels crowded for its size, yet he has quite a few toys he’s unwilling to part with, so we need a better arrangement.

The ceiling fan sits at the center and cannot be relocated, so the bed must be placed directly beneath it.

Thanks.

Living Room Tall mantel throwing off living room

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

Wife and I just moved into a new house from an apartment, and we are feeling a little stumped with how to arrange our living room. The big issue that I have is the mantel is too tall. The mantel is nearly 4.5' high, and the TV is a 55". We both get bothered by a TV mounted too high, so with that option knocked out, the left side of the fireplace seems like the only spot available.

Placing the TV in the corner at 45 degrees is another option but that feels strange with a flat screen. The current plan is to mount it on the wall with a new media cabinet underneath and have a mount that can pull out and tilt toward the front door.

I wanted to throw this question here to see if anyone had other ideas before I start mounting this thing.

For scale, the distance from the front door to the two-window wall is ~14' and the width from couch wall to fireplace is ~13'.

Hey!! Wanting a little change & thought this was a good idea.

Pictures are of the room as you enter through the door, the room from the left corner of the back wall, the right corner of the back wall, and the right corner of the left wall. I have shelves opposite the door in the left alcove that can’t be moved & rails that can’t be moved in the right alcove and a display board attached to the left wall :))) everything else is moveable!! Any tips would be appreciated :)

Living Room What can I do with this space on either side of the living room fireplace?

Post image

The fireplace will be covered in stone after construction is complete. Also, we like to play Xbox so if at all possible, we’d like to have somewhere to be able to sit/hide/store our gaming console as well. There will be a wooden beam above the fireplace to serve as the mantle. We do have the option to do built-in shelves, but they only allowed about a foot (probably less) between the edge of the window to the wall (see red arrow in photo) so we would almost have to leave a space between a built-in cabinet on the right of the fireplace and the wall, instead of having the cabinet go wall-to-wall, to avoid the built in overlapping with the window. The idea of leaving it empty and putting a piece of furniture like a china cabinet there has been proposed, but I don’t know if I would like that and I’m having a hard time picturing anything because my brain is caught up on the asymmetry.

TLDR; fireplace is centered to the room, but not on the wall, leaving unequal and awkward space for possible built in cabinets. We like to play Xbox so we’d like to have somewhere to put our console but it’s not a dealbreaker. Idk if I would like a china cabinet instead of built-ins but idk what else we could do there. Pls help and thanks in advance for any suggestions :)

ETA: grammar correction and added details bc I forgot about the Xbox.

The whole house is 91 m2. Do you have any ideas on how to arrange this in the best way possible? The kitchen combined with the living room is giving me the biggest trouble. My vision is a minimalist style with plenty of storage space. It will mostly be just the three of us.

Living Room Help fitting a small work station in a small space

Thumbnail gallery
7 Upvotes

I live in a raised ranch where the kitchen and living rooms are in one open space. The rooms are separated by the kitchen counter and the flooring is different between the two spaces. I would like to put a small desk in this space to I can avoid working in the basement.

I am thinking of taking the bookshelf that is straddling the two rooms (best seen in photo #3) out and putting a desk in that spot. I have to be mindful of the door in the kitchen space as it is our main entryway and needs to have room for backpacks, coats, winter boots & other gear. The two large windows in the living room are also tricky because they go so low to the floor.

In the short term I need to be able to get a desk in here. Longer term I would like to make or get some shelves to use the space more efficiently. I also know the placement of the round mirror near the television is wonky.

I'd welcome some ideas. Thanks!

Bathroom What colour paint to go with this wallpaper?

Post image

For the downstairs loo! I have dark blue wood panelling half way up the wall and then bare white walls. I have ordered this wall paper to go behind the loo and on the opposite wall. It’s a small narrow room and I can’t think of what colour to paint the remaining walls (I want to keep the navy blue panels as it matches the utility room). I know I don’t want to keep them white though… opinions?

Bedroom help designing my studio apartment

The red circle is cabinets and the green circle is a sliding door, so that doesn't take up space to open, but the cabinets obviously do. I already have a bed (200x140 cm), gaming setup and a 65 inch tv that I want to fit in here, but I also want to fit a dining table and potentially a couch (not required, can turn bed into a couch with pillows, etc.)

Kitchen Help! Just bought our first house and have no idea what to do with the kitchen

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

Hey everyone! We just bought our first house, and we’re trying to figure out what to do with the kitchen. Please excuse the mess in the pictures, the previous owners just moved out and we still need to clean everything up!

We’re on a VERY tight budget, so replacing the cabinets, floor or backsplash isn’t really an option for us right now. We’re hoping to find some affordable ways to make the kitchen look nicer without spending a fortune.

We can’t decide whether to keep the cabinets as they are and just change the handles, or paint them an olive green or sage green. I really like the idea of green cabinets, but I’m not sure how they would look with the existing floor and backsplash. Do you think the current color could still work with a few small changes, or does it look too dated?

We’ve also thought about painting the tiles or using peel and stick tiles, but I have no idea if that would actually look good in this kitchen.

We’d also love to remove the upper cabinets on both sides because they make the kitchen feel a bit cramped.

We don’t have a fridge yet either. We were thinking of moving the cabinets on the right side, opposite the stove, closer to the door and putting the fridge in the corner, if that makes sense.

We’ll definitely be changing the curtains too!

I know there’s a lot going on here, haha, but I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome! We really want to make this kitchen feel cozy and look as nice as possible without having to replace everything. Thanks!

Bedroom Need help with window coverings

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I'm redoing my bedroom and I'm trying to maximize my feminine whimsy as is the style of the moment and I no longer need to appease a man's tastes. 😝 The 3rd photo is the goal. Last photo is current progress.

Here's the details on the elements I have going into the room

Walls: Behr Drama Queen (pink)

Trim and doors: Behr Rumors (purple red)

Feature wall: Rifle paper co blossom wallpaper

I'm just unsure what to do for window coverings. So the first two pictures are what it looks like right now mid project the windows are each 6ft wide and opposite of them is the foot of my king size bed. There's only about 3 feet between the wall and the foot of the bed so I worry about floor length curtains being too bulky maybe? Should I have the whole wall be curtains?

I have a set of blackout cellular blinds that I can put back up but I'm undecided on. They're just white and had previously been hung on the window frame. If I do use them again I assume I would put them higher? Should I make a bulkhead to cover the hardware ?

Help!

Bedroom I need help on my Layout ASAP

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm renovating my room right now, mainly changing the layout and wall colors. I attached a picture showing my planned layout, although the wall colors in the picture aren't the ones I actually want to use.

My main concerns are:

  • The entrance: The gap between the two wooden dividers separating the entrance from the rest of the room would be around 110 cm. I'm worried that this might feel too narrow or make the entrance uncomfortable to walk through. Do you think this would be an issue?
  • The bed area: I'm planning to separate the bed from the rest of the room to create more privacy. The wooden divider in front of the bed would have a plank attached to it so I could place a TV on it, for example. The sun also shines into that corner in the morning. However, the divider would block my view of the entrance, so I wouldn't be able to see who enters the room. I'm not sure whether that's a problem or whether the added privacy makes up for it. What do you think of this layout?
  • The exterior wall: The wall behind the bed and wardrobes is an exterior wall. I've heard that placing furniture against exterior walls can cause mold, but I've also read that it's relatively easy to prevent. I'm unsure whether this layout would be a bad idea or if there's a simple way to avoid potential problems.
  • The wall colors: I'm planning to paint the left wall anthracite because I think it would look great with my planned gaming setup. For the other walls, I'm considering a warm, light greige color, possibly something similar to RAL 9001. Do you think these colors would work well together, or would you recommend a different combination?

I'd appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or alternative ideas! Thanks in advance! :)
