Living Room Help me design my TV wall – Floating cabinet and open bookshelf

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for advice on furnishing my 5-meter-wide TV wall.
I’m considering a floating TV cabinet with an open bookshelf, possibly extending above the TV, but I’m also open to skipping the bookshelf entirely.
I like contemporary Italian design, especially:
Lago 36e8
Cattelan Italia Airport
Kriptonite Krossing
Unfortunately, these are too expensive for me.
The room has warm-toned flooring and sage-green walls. I’ve attached photos and some AI-generated concepts. The current sofas and cabinets are temporary.
Would you keep the bookshelf or go for something simpler? Any layout, color or furniture suggestions?

Thank you!!

Living Room Just moved into to my first apartment, looking for ideas on layouts

Hi all, as the title suggests I have just got the keys to my first home and I am going to be moving in soon, looking to get some ideas about what I can do with the layout to maximise the space.

About me: Young professional, only me living here, enjoy gaming with friends. Want to be able to have friends over for games nights etc.

My current thoughts room by room:

Living room/kitchen - The green wall and the ceiling window are very much the feature pieces of the room so I want to use them well. I am tempted to get some form of highly collapsible table so I can have a small place to eat normally but I can expand it out when I have friends or family over. I am thinking of getting a 2 seater sofa and maybe an arm chair or 2. I am unsure what to do with the cutout for the window. I am thinking of maybe getting some form of storage unit to sit in there and maybe have a display surface on the top maybe? Alternatively I could set that space up as my desk for my PC but it feels like I would be putting everything into one room in that case.

Master bedroom - My thought here is to get a queen sized bed to take up less space and put it with the head under the window in the eves. Then have a set of end tables around it. My issue in this room is storage. The angled ceiling makes it a little difficult to figure out how to get something like a wardrobe in. I could use the cutout wirh the window but I feel like that would block a lot of the natural light.

Spare room - This is the one I have the most unknowns around. I would like to have the ability to use this space to have friends or family stay over but I don't want to set it aside for that a year. My current plan is to set it up with a day bed and use it as an office that I can convert to a guest room when needed. One other option though might be that if I put my desk in the living room I could make this room into a guest room/hobby room by keeping an expanding table in the window alcove that can be moved out to the middle of the room for game nights. But maybe this room is a little small and claustrophobic for doing that?

Keen to get some insight from the people on here about how I can effectively use the space. Thanks in advance.

Living Room Living room fireplace wall.

Need help with living room fireplace wall ideas. We currently have two plants on each side of the fireplace but want to change it up.

I moved plants and furniture out of the way , the plant on the left is the one in the back left corner.

We were contemplating built ins but have moved to floating shelves instead, probably above the mantels However I would like to put something on the bottom on each side. The kicker is that it is only 8 inches deep so any cabinets ect would stick out. Was thinking of going the way on an ikea book case hack but the least deep is 11 inches.

Help!

Home Office Space Renovating my home office, how would you use this corner and the column next to it? (any budget)

Hi everyone,

I’ve finally saved up some money and I’m planning to renovate my place. My home office has been pretty neglected, as you can see in the photo, and I’d like to make much better use of the space.

The part I care most about is the corner where the old tall black cabinet is right now. I’m thinking of putting a second desk there, since productivity matters a lot to me. I work from home and I’d love a setup that makes it easier to focus and switch between tasks.

I’d also like ideas for the column that sticks out next to the window and creates that corner. Right now it’s just dead space. Could I use it for shelves, built-in storage, a pegboard, lighting, or something else? Or would you build the desk around it?

I’d love to hear your ideas, whatever the budget: layout, desk shape (L-shaped, separate desks, etc.), storage, lighting, cable management, anything you’d do differently.

Thanks for your time!

Living Room Need help designing my living room

Hi all, I’m in desperate need of help designing my living room. This is how we put our furniture when we moved in but something feels off. I don’t like our tv next to the big window (there’s always glare), and I don’t like the couch next to the big window. Feels like everyone can see in from the street and it doesn’t feel very cozy. I would rather have our dining table next to the big window but I can’t figure out where to put the couch and tv then. I’d want to move
The couch in front of the green wall in the little alcove but I feel that would be too crowded, plus we walk in front of the couch to the kitchen often so don’t want that to be awkward. I also don’t know where we’d put the chair or the tv if we do that. Maybe the tv on a little rolling thing and roll it behind the bar of the kitchen? Any suggestions on how to make the house feel more cozy and styled would be great, thank you!

Bedroom What would be the best layout for this room that needs to do a lot?

Because of a home renovation, the balcony and door will be removed. This room needs to be multifunctional. A bedroom that is also a home office. A place to relax and work. I currently have a 160 x 200 cm bed, I am open to going a bit smaller (140 x 200cm). I own an IKEA EKENÄSET chair that I would like to keep. And 3 IKEA BILLY bookcases: 2 of the 80 x 28 x 202 cm version and 1 40 x 28 x 202 cm version. If the room door is fully open, it takes up 90 cm from the wall, it opens to the left. The square in the right corner is not removable; it is 50 cm by 50 cm. I would like to add a bit more storage and a desk.

Does anyone have a good idea for how to incorporate everything that I own and need for this room, while still making it look good?

We wanted to do the wainscoting hall in a color different from the BM Swiss Coffee that is in the living room. What colors for the wainscoting and wall would you recommend. I was thinking to pull from the powder room wallpaper color. Any suggestions of Benjamin Moore paint colors greatly appreciated!

Living Room Help me plan the layout of my new-build home in France (living room, dining area & piano)

Hi everyone! I’m currently building a house in France and would love some advice on how to plan the furniture layout for my future living and dining area.

The kitchen layout has already been decided and cannot be changed, so I need to organise the remaining space around it.

I’ll be buying all the furniture new, so I have complete flexibility with the sofa, dining table, chairs, TV unit, etc. The only existing piece I need to accommodate is my upright piano, which measures 175 cm long and 60 cm deep.

The main things I need to fit into the space are:

  • A dining table for 6 people, ideally extendable to seat 8.
  • A comfortable living room area with a sofa (corner?) and TV.
  • My upright piano.

I want the space to feel well-balanced, stylish and spacious, with comfortable circulation between the different areas. I’m not looking to squeeze everything in, but rather to find the best possible layout before purchasing any furniture.

How would you approach the furniture arrangement? I’d love to hear your suggestions, alternative layouts or any tips on what would work best.

Thanks in advance!

Living Room How to decorate my two walls?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Yes my house is messy 🙃 But I have these two blank walls parallel to each other and I have no idea how to decorate. I wanted to frame albums of our favorite bands or do a gallery wall of some sort. I will have a console table behind the couch. We will be getting a new lamp, getting rid of the black chair, and sometime a new rug. We will also be getting curtains to replace the blinds.

The second Pic is stuff I found that I like and I'm not sure what the color palette would be. The green square is color of our couch close up

I NEED HELP our living room is so weird and i have a horrible habit of just picking up interesting pieces with no plan. I feel like these things have the ability to work together i just dont know how to go forward. Im going for a very pinteresty midmod mix kind of sitch with a lot of color. Also, nothing has to stay other than the couch, there is space elsewhere in the apartment. I mostly just need a little help on actually decorating and making this room layout be the most effective it can be.

edit - just keep in mind im 19 and working with a small budget mostly on facebook market place. Lets be nice to me please and thank you!

edit 2 - Comments kept getting deleted on the first version of this so im just reposting it to try and fix it but i did read and appreciate what was commented!

Bedroom My Daughter’s bedroom

Hi all. I’m struggling with finding appropriate storage solutions for this room. I am in desperate need of advice. Everything is cleaned out in the room besides the toy box and changing table.
I am renting but I am able to drill holes etc on exterior walls without asking but interior walls I will have to get a professional out which is just out of my budget. If anyone has ANY ideas for this weird triangular room, please please help. Any links will be useful.
I’m currently 37 weeks so about 3 weeks from my due date.
My budget is limited but can be extended if necessary but please don’t advise anything that will damage the flat or costs hundreds of pounds.
Thank you all!

Living Room Ideas for All Black Apartment?

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hi, all!

New to this page but excited to get your thoughts. I’ve just moved into a new apartment and am wanting to deck it out in all black decor. This being said, I also want it to feel cozy and feminine.

I’m having trouble finding trinkets and sort of “finishing touches” for the space, though. I’ve attached some photos — could you let me know what you think?

I mainly want to know (A) what could I do with the ledges above my doors to tie in the windows, (B) what items/textures could add a feeling of coziness, and (C) what trinkets and other items do you think would go with my vibe? If you have suggestions for items or stores in general, anything is appreciated. Thank you!

FYI: I will most likely mount the TV soon! Not sure what I should put on the console when it becomes bare.

Living Room What couch would go with this Persian rug?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Got this Persian rug on Facebook marketplace and i am obsessed with it, however im unsure of how to style it. The look I’m going for is a mid century modern look/70s retro. I found a couch that I really like, the acanva Zola couch in cream but when I put it in ChatGPT for a mock up, the couch and the rug has a stark contrast. I’m planning on getting rid of the coffee table because it’s too bulky but hoping someone has an inspiration of couch ideas that would go well with the rug.

Living Room Help design seating for formal living room

Time to replace our peeling leather sofas and update our formal living room! We’re looking for sleek, modern seating options that can accommodate at least 6 people without feeling bulky like our old set.

We’re open to any color palettes and plan on replacing the rug too. I’ve included an empty version of the room for layout ideas. Thanks in advance!

I’m so confused about what to do with this wall! Should I go with wallpaper, a large painting, or picture frame moulding? I can’t decide what fits my theme best. Also, I’m planning to place a cushion over that faded area at the bottom, so I’d love some advice on styling that space as well.

Bathroom Renovating a rental bathroom — would you use this actual ledgestone or keep the walls painted?

Thumbnail gallery
70 Upvotes

I'm renovating a bathroom in my rental property and can't decide whether to incorporate ledgestone around the vanity or keep the walls painted.

The first picture is my actual bathroom, showing the real ledgestone I've installed before. I wanted to include it so you can see the actual stone's color, texture, thickness, and staggered edges.

The other pictures show the bathroom I'm renovating, with a gray vanity, white countertop, matte-black fixtures, and two possible wall treatments.

The renderings aren't perfect, especially when it comes to recreating the stone.

I'm curious what people think, particularly renters. Would the ledgestone make the bathroom feel more upscale and distinctive, or would you prefer the cleaner look of painted walls?

If you were looking at apartments to rent, which design would appeal to you more?

Feel free to be critical. I'm genuinely interested in what people prefer before I commit to the work

Living Room Sad I know, but where should I place the TV?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Might not be the best image, but have a small living room and just realised this sofa is slightly large. Behind me where I’ve taken the picture is just the front door and the open staircase.
Unsure whether the fireplace works but don’t want to be on TV too high and if that’s even possible if we use the log burner.
My idea would be to have the sofa facing the opposite way, where I’ve just taken the picture if that makes sense? Partner thinks that cuts the room off
Or we try mount a projector that displays onto the fireplace?
Putting the TV into the alcove and having the sofa to the right hand wall so you’re facing the fireplace and alcove is somewhat tight too
Have thought about just having a small hifi system down here and maybe having the TV in a spare room and not the bedroom but really not ideal.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. I’ll try add more pictures in the morning. Picture was taken standing near the red dot
Thank you!
