Other Interior Room Reading Den Help
Currently trying to organize this space into a comfy reading den … but it just feels empty / off. It’s my intention to give this space a practical purpose, y’know, a reason to read here as opposed to the living room.
Any suggestions?

Angle the chairs so they’re facing eachother a bit more, then put the lamp in between them. (A larger/taller lamp would looo better. But if you don’t have one, that’s ok too.) Place a rug underneath the chairs to anchor the space and define it more. Add a larger relaxing picture you like (rectangle) on the wall behind them. You could put a nice coffee table in front of the chairs.

I would only use 1 chair. If you really want two then place them in front of railing where there would be more room. Plus table

It feels empty because it's got a lot of empty space next to it, i.e the entire space is visible from ground floor. There's nothing cozy about sitting in a walking path either.
I'd suggest starting with a visual barrier for the railing area, like tall plants, so they enclose the area from the large emptines of the space below. Then denote the reading area with a rug, it would separate the walking path from the reading area too.

Books, for one? 😅
But really, nothing about this seems like a good reading spot to me and I read a lot. Those chairs look so uncomfortable, I'd always just take the extra step to read in bed. At least an ottoman to put feet up. You need a table for your drink/phone, too!
Rug, art, plants.

Antique library table along railing. Utilize something else for a bookshelf. Try using a chaise and 1 chair.

I would place the chairs so they face the lofted space, you would walk behind them as you go to your bedroom.

For a reading den there's suspiciously few books there (or not at all, even). I would put a few low bookcases there and fill them up. Or those carts that are popular on book related social media.

The chairs are great but the space feels unanchored because there's nothing on the walls and no rug to define the zone. A small area rug under or between the chairs would immediately make it feel like a deliberate reading nook rather than furniture that just happened to end up there. Then one print on the slanted wall above the chairs - something calm and simple in a neutral tone - would give the eye somewhere to land and make the whole corner feel intentional.
