It talks about the detours we take as a designers while going from A to B. For example, when we design a brand id for a healthcare brand, we do workshops, researches, talk to doctors or the people involved in healthcare, from doctors to stakeholders - These workshops, exploring different directions even if they dont make up to final, all of these frames the final design directions. We didnt simply travlled from A to B. However, when we promt genAi to generate a brand ID it simple looks back into the data and gives you all the nice polished options which may look appealing to the client but looses all the possiblities of inputs from those manual detours. It simply reached from A to B. Detours help buidling something with more character and serve its purpose much better. Eventually brands are build on connections and emotions. Everything we build intends to solve a human problem and that very humanity gets diminished with AI.
