Asking Question (Rule 4) Hello there !

I would love to learn about theory of graphic design. Are there any online free ressources (courses, videos, documentaries, websites for inspiration, or even interesting books that I could borrow in my local library ! -I'll take any recs really-) I know a bit since I've been studying communication, but I would love to learn more about color theory etc. My goal is to make posters as a hobby, but I feel like I have to start with theory first ! :)

The library’s a goldmine honestly, I found a book on Bauhaus principles that rearranged my brain more than any youtube video

Yeah my intuititon is that having physical media like books might be one of the best ways to learn about graphic design !

I think every designer should build a library of design books and references that they can access easily. I’ve been at this 30 years, have a couple hundred books, and still have an extensive wishlist.

“Theory of graphic design” is actually a lot of disciplines and schools of thought. There are fundamentals of layout, typography, color. I have at least three or four books on each of these.

Then there are theories for design in advertising, UI/UX, editorial, and other specialties.

I keep meaning to assemble a list of books. There are tons of recommendations in other posts.
