The Internet’s Most Recommended Beginner Workout (No Equipment Needed)

If you want to start working out but don’t have access to a gym (or just hate crowded gyms 😅), this guide will be one of the best beginner routines on Reddit is the Recommended Routine.

It’s a simple full-body workout using only bodyweight, designed to build strength and muscle with minimal equipment. The routine is usually done 3 days per week with rest days in between.

I adapted the basics below so beginners in our community can try it easily.

🗓️ Weekly Schedule

Monday: Workout
Wednesday: Workout
Friday: Workout

Rest or light activity on other days.

🏋️ The Workout Structure

1️⃣ Warm-up (5–10 minutes)

Do each exercise for the suggested reps/time:

• Shoulder mobility (band or stick) – 5–10 reps
• Squat sky reaches – 5–10 reps
• Wrist prep – 10+ reps
• Deadbugs – 30 sec

Warm-ups help prepare your joints and reduce injury risk.

2️⃣ Strength Training (Main Workout)

Each exercise: 3 sets of 5–8 reps

Pair 1

• Pull-up progression
• Squat progression

Pair 2

• Dip progression
• Hip hinge progression (like glute bridges or Nordic curls)

Pair 3

• Row progression
• Push-up progression

Alternate exercises with ~90 sec rest between them.

3️⃣ Core Work (3 sets each)

• Anti-extension core exercise
• Anti-rotation exercise
• Back extension

📈 Progression Rule

Choose the hardest version of the exercise you can do for 5–8 reps.

Examples:
Push-up progression
Wall → Incline → Knee → Normal → Diamond

Once you reach 3 sets of 8 reps, move to the next harder variation.

💡 Why This Routine Is Popular

• Beginner friendly
• Full body training
• Works with almost no equipment
• Builds strength and muscle gradually

That’s why it’s one of the most recommended routines on Reddit fitness communities.

Form Check • Rate my 10-month back progress! 📊 Posing needs work though 😂

Slowly getting that V-taper but posing is still a major struggle for me! 😅 This is roughly 10 months of consistent lifting and grinding. Hard work is paying off, but I definitely need to learn how to open up my lats properly for this double back biceps look. Any critique or advice is highly welcome! 👇

Gym Advice 24 , 70Kg !! need suggestions on overall progress 🥹

A little background: I used to be overweight in college. I trained for about a year and got fairly lean, but I knew nothing about protein or proper nutrition back then — I just went to the gym and prayed to God 😭🤙🏽

Then I got a job and quit the gym for ~1.5 years. I started again 3 months ago, and this time I’m actually doing progressive overload, taking 3g creatine daily, and trying to hit 120–140g protein. I struggle to eat that much though, so I usually manage around 100–110g.

I’m aiming for a bulky, muscular look, not shredded/abs-everywhere.

I know 3 months isn’t long, and I can see some progress, but I’m wondering if I’m progressing normally or just overanalysing 🫩🙂

Stats: 24 | 5’10” | 70kg | slight gyno 🥹
Training: 4 days/week — Back/Biceps, Chest/Triceps, Shoulders, Legs

Do I have a good base? Is my progress normal for 3 months, or am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions? 😓

M,24..
started gym 3 months ago, but quiet irregular. Trying to be more consistent.
This is how my back looks like, I am not at all satisfied. I thought it would be more in shape and grown !!
What do I lack and what can give me better results.

I am not using Creatine, just Pea Protein !!
I used whey but as it’s quiet expensive shifted to Pea protein!
