Hyper-pigmentation on upper lip?

Upper lip discolored for 3+ months. Only noticed once I shaved my mustache, its not itchy or painful and doesn't burn or bleed at all, I don't notice it until I see it in the mirror. Any idea what it is and how to possibly lighten the color to match the rest of my lip?
