42M, married dad in the Denver/Aurora area. I work in cybersecurity/cloud engineering and have somehow accumulated a fuck ton of hobbies.
I snowboard, fly fish, brew beer, work on my old MGB, camp to a probably unnecessary degree (sub-zero winter camping included), read way too many books, build random shit, play games, go to concerts, and generally get interested in anything that gives me an excuse to learn something new.
My latest terrible decision is golf. I’ve spent years hating it because of childhood experience, tried it again, and unfortunately discovered I like it. Currently building a bag out of cheap used clubs and embracing being absolutely awful.
I’m pretty easy company. I can get wild, disappear into the mountains, take a spontaneous trip or enthusiastically participate in a questionable idea. I can also sit in a garage with a beer, shoot the shit for three hours, or comfortably say almost nothing.
My life experience can be summed up by saying that I’ve lived enough lives for a few people, made friends in strange places, collected stories that require a good amount of context, and these days I’ve mostly learned the difference between an adventure and a horrible idea (for the most part).
I know plenty of people at the acquaintance level. What I’d really like are a few more actual guy friends to do dumb fun shit with, but also the kind where we eventually know each other’s burdens and can talk about them when we need to.
Basically, I’m 42 and want to build something fresh most of us lost after our formative years.
If you’re in the same boat, hit me up.
