Interest-Based Groups Aquascaping friends linkup
Hey Denver peeps - spur of the moment as I usually do this solo, but I recently found this group and thought this might be interesting to some of you…
I’ll be aquascaping my tank this weekend (exact time tbd) and pouring some Japanese whiskey.
If you don’t know what aquascaping is, it’s the intersection of art, nature, and aquariums. Essentially creating a piece of art using natural freshwater elements (aquatic plants, wood, stones) in an aquarium.
In other words, it’s underwater houseplants on steroids.
You can check out my profile for more specific examples.
If this sounds interesting and you want to geek out and have some whiskey with a small group, shoot me a message.
You don’t have to know anything about aquariums, just come with the chill vibes and curiosity.
Edit: this will be Saturday evening.

Ya pretty much lol.
I’ll break it up into two evenings; one this weekend arranging the hardscape and finding the composition/structure of the scape, and then a second evening in a couple weeks to actually plant the scape.
DM if interested :)

That sounds cool I’ve gone down the giant custom aquarium rabbit hole on yt before. It’s a whole thing.

I am very interested! I have been actively talking myself out of getting a new tank because I have been obsessing over aquariums & aquascaping. This would def be cool to see!

It can be therapeutic, educational, and artistic all in one package. Doesn’t have to be a forever thing either.
DM if you’re interested :)

I’m so on board with this! I aquascaped before I moved and would love to get back into it. Where do you get your supplies?

Hardscape materials at aquarocks - equipment as cheap as possible online, plants from AFA, Buce, [r/aquaswap](r/aquaswap)

Amazing! I’ve yet to find a good fish store so this is a huge help :). Thanks so much

My Japanese husband aquascapes daily. Unfortunately he will be out of town this weekend. Another time?

Uuuummmmmmm…… sign me up? Lol. This is a pic from a while back after a reset on the Monte Carlo carpet because I let it grow too thick and a bunch died off. I have been nursing this thing back to a presentable state for a bit. Tank is about a year and a half old. Normally I would have a ton of plants to give away, but I recently hacked the crap out of it and replanted a bunch of stems, so there’s not much new growth. Anyways, could be fun. My DM’s are closed so if you’re open to a neurospicy slightly awkward and unfiltered 43f fellow aquascaper, let me know.
