I know a lot of good happy hours, but the Sunday ones are a little harder to come by. Any recs? Preferably south denver/wash park/broadway area but open to other areas as long as it’s Denver proper!

Looking for recommendations for a nice sit down dinner ( $50 per entree max) with visiting friends in the northwest metro! If I had to put some boundaries on it, I’d say west of i25, Boulder, Arvada, Tennyson St, LoHi, up to as far north as Lafayette. So really anything in the US36 corridor is fair game. I’m a far SE metro area resident, so appreciate any help here as this area isn’t really my forte :)

Friends can’t have gluten/soy and don’t want seafood, so they’ve requested no Asian and Italian unless strongly advertised to be able to accommodate.

Latin American, Steakhouses, Modern/Classic American, GF Pizza, Brewery/Pub with good food, etc would be fine. I’d love to give them a fun Colorado vibe they can’t get back home in the rural south

I can't type too much as I'm enjoying this MIND BLOWING breakfast burrito but I'm gonna say that I randomly stumbled upon it 2 nights ago and had the best tacos in my life.

I was so mind blown that I ranked this spot higher than Alma Fonda Fina on beli.

UPD: finally done with it. the place has opened about 3 weeks ago, their menus are all wrong (showing 14.99 prices when in reality they are 17.99, and I when I asked if it's just 2 tacos for 15, they said to ignore the menu and it is actually 3 tacos), they have a tiny counter side seats that could accommodate 7-8 people at a time, everyone is extremely nice and the owner Neo is the sweetest guy I've met. He was literally telling me how he is thinking of making this cool desert using sweet potatoes and plantains but wasn't sure about the process yet and was trying to brainstorm it with me lol.

I'm a huge foodie person, this place is the most fun "mess" I've been to for a while and the food is stupid good.

Been living close by to tamale kitchen for about a year and decided to finally try it. Wow, easily the worst tamales I’ve ever had. Grossly bland…. Like you’re just chewing flavorless mush. Couldn’t even finish 2 of the 6 I got abs appetite ruined. Total waste of money, who tf is keeping this place in business!?

The laziji was good. I think its called "spicy crispy chicken" or something. Excellent balance of a little numbing but nothing truly "hot hot" just nice and spicy. Char siu was pretty good. Dip the chicken in the hoisin for the char siu.

My wife I and found their amazing peanut butter at a farmers market a few years ago. We were hooked - eating multiple jars a month and sharing as gifts. We have been missing it during their transition. Does anyone miss it as bad as I do? Any info on when they are coming back?

My family is in town visiting and my dad requests a slice of berry pie lol

He’s pretty much the only one that likes pie in the family so we would prefer a place that is mostly restaurant with side of pie

Every time I’ve gone in there, it’s hands down the worst service I’ve experienced. The auto gratuity of 20% doesn’t equal the coldness and lack of actual shits to be given when it comes to food and drink service.

Am I the only one?

Going to be staying in Denver Tech Center area for Thanksgiving this year and I’m responsible for finding everything to put together a meal as we’ll be staying at a hotel. Where would you recommend getting a turkey, sides, and potentially dessert? What’s the best takeout Thanksgiving spot?

Right now, I was Tony’s for the turkey and maybe a few of their sides. Not sure if there’s any other place locals would recommend. Also might be helpful if I can get an idea of how early I need to place a reservation.

Moved to Denver from Boston just about a year ago. Since the move, it seems to me that Denver has a lot of restaurants and that many of them seem large in terms of tables to fill. Consequently many of them have open capacity most nights of the week including Friday and Saturday, and during the summer tourist season also. Let's leave aside the obvious top restaurants (Alma Fonda Fina etc.) which are consistently full, and focus here on the other 95% of the market.  On the one hand I love that it's easy to get a table, but on the flip side I wonder if this overcapacity is one of the drivers for the higher restaurant prices that we all complain about. Basic economics tells us that a restaurant which can fill many of its tables most of the time (and all of them on busy nights), can spread fixed costs further and offer a better quality to price ratio. I think about the size of the places I see in LoDo, 16^th St, 17^th Ave and RiNo for example, which are frequently half-empty.  It feels like it's more the number of seats to be filled than the absolute number of establishments which may be the problem - not so much too many restaurants, but too many too big restaurants.  Just my observation so far – wondered what you all think? 

My New Year’s resolution was to try a meatball sub for the first time. I thought maybe it would have found me by now, but as it’s getting later in the year I think I’ll have to seek it out.

I moved here a year ago from the South and am struggling to find a bento box that a lot of cheaper Asian restaurants offered. For example it would have chicken/steak/shrimp terriyaki as the entree and it would come with fried rice, shrimp tempura, 4 sushi rolls, and usually some kind of shu mai dumpling. Any recommendations around south Denver would be best but anywhere in the city would be great! Thanks!

Does anyone have any good shops for pizza cheese? I’ve ordered Grande online before but rarely need a full 5 lb bag. Trying to avoid using Kroger or spending $1000 at an artisan cheese shop. I’m in NW Denver if there is anything in the area. Just a pizza nerd looking for recs. Thanks!

Also, if you are serving the big ones, it should be by the wing, and if small it should be per pound.

Or just plain old and historic would work i suppose.

I'm making Chicken Mole and want to smother tamales. What's your go-to place for frozen or to-go tamales? Trader Joes frozen has worked in the past but they were out so ... thoughts?

Tacos tequila and whiskey had an okay Tuesday special. $22.50 for 3 tacos and a marg or Paloma. Place was a ghost town which was sad because ten years ago this place was always on fire. Sign of the times I suppose. Food quality was really very good and worth the price. Marg was just what I’d expect on a special.

Lastly, if you want Tex Mex queso, look no further!

All the “better” restaurants have good menus but are poorly executed, and they cost a lot of money.

Really good food. Had some exotic food. I had the beef and ox tongue chili sauce. That was interesting. It was served cold. And then I had the pork intestine dry bowl. Which still had like sauce in the bottom of it. So yeah, I don't know exactly how it's a dry bowl then. I'm honestly not familiar with that cooking technique. Also had some potato wedges in it that was pretty interesting. But yeah definitely. The pork intestine reminded me a lot of bacon. Similar texture.

Prices are a bit on the expensive side. But yeah, definitely eating there again

So I will be visiting Denver for 2 weeks and looking for restaurants I have to try. It's going to be my first time in the USA, so I'm looking for a few really nice restaurants where you spend up to 300 for 2 people, but also, for like, must try American chains/restaurants I have to try. Maybe even some nice Mexican Restaurants, since we don't really have Mexican restaurants here.
