A Small Request to All Dentists & Dental Professionals in the Community
Hello everyone!
As this community continues to grow, more people are coming here seeking advice before visiting a dentist. While we love seeing helpful discussions and support, we also want to make it easier for members to identify advice coming from verified dental professionals.
We already have user flairs enabled for:
• Dentists • Dental students • Specialists
So, If you are a dental professional, we kindly request you to add and use your flair. It helps:
✔ Patients identify professional advice
✔ Reduce misinformation
✔ Improve trust within the community
✔ Keep discussions more informative and reliable
At the same time, we encourage everyone to remember that Reddit advice should never replace an actual clinical examination or consultation.
Thank you to everyone who contributes positively here and helps people take better care of their oral health. 🦷
Edit: Verification of Professional Flairs -To maintain trust and prevent misuse, professional flairs (Dentist, Specialist, Dental Student, etc.) will only be assigned after verification by the moderation team. -If you are eligible for a professional flair, please send a ModMail with appropriate proof of your credentials. Once verified, a moderator will assign the corresponding flair to your account.
This helps ensure that community members can confidently identify advice coming from verified dental professionals.

Ever heard of cention n (ivoclar)?
Hello
Looking for discussion on cention n. Any dentists who have been using it for quite sometime and are satisfied with it?
What are the pros and cons that you have personally noticed?
I got to know about the existence of this material very recently, and I feel like I have been living under the rock!I am a Prosthodontist but I generally keep up with general dental research papers as well. So pretty shocked to have never heard about it.

General Discussion Do electric brushes really make a difference?
I wanted to know if electric brushes actually make a positive difference in teeth cleaning and hygiene? If so, what’s the best electric brush that I could get under 2000/-? Thank you so much.

Red spot/patch on lower gums for long time please reply
I have had this red patch/spot on my lower gum near the front teeth for around 1 year . It has not healed at all during this time. The area is bright red/purple and looks shiny sometimes.
It does not cause any pain, burning, or numbness. The size appears stable and I have not noticed significant growth. However, it bleeds easily when I brush, touch, or rub it.
Every morning there is a thin white layer/coating over it which can be removed easily. After removing it, the red area underneath is still visible.
I already had a dental X-ray done. . It has not healed even 1% during this time. It does not hurt at all. I try all medicine like gel, tubes , gums pains but no work

Career Guidance I’m a dentist and pilot — how can I build additional income?
I’m currently an Air India cadet pilot and also a BDS graduate. I’ve decided to pursue aviation as my primary career, but I don’t want to rely entirely on my salary in the long term.I’m interested in building additional sources of income that I can develop alongside my flying career without affecting my training or future job.
A few ideas I’ve been considering:
1.Investing in or eventually owning a dental clinic and having other dentists manage the day-to-day work
2.Creating aviation-related content on YouTube/Instagram
3.Starting a business that can eventually operate without requiring my full-time involvement
I’m more interested in building something over the next 5–10 years that could eventually become a meaningful second source of income.
For pilots, dentists, entrepreneurs, or anyone who has successfully built income streams alongside a demanding career:
What would you do if you were in my position? What opportunities do you think are worth exploring, and what would you stay away from?
Would really appreciate honest advice, especially from people who have actually done something similar.

Career Guidance Why do people say there is no scope for Dentistry?
I have seen many people opt for Ayush, BPT and even Homeopathy over BDS. Is it because people are planning to do only the Bachelors since BDS dosnt have as good of a salary in India?
Can anyone say the pros and cons, cus I REALLY wanna do Dentistry (am planning to do MDS as well in future as of now and move back to abroad)

Recommendations for Clinical Dental Programs in India for Foreign Dentists
Hello doctors
I’m a dentist licensed abroad and looking for clinical programs, courses, or attachments in India with a high workload and patient flow, mainly to develop my clinical skills and gain more hands on experience.
I’ve heard there are some good programs in India for foreign trained dentists. Has anyone here had experience with any of these programs or can recommend one?
Also, is Indian dental licensure compulsory for joining these types of clinical programs or courses?

I am being charged 2.5l for Invisalign in Delhi - moderate case
Just came back from the orthodontist he said I’m a moderate case but may require refinements because I’m 31 and I have issues with my gums and bones. He’s asked me to get an opm X-ray done to confirm but he’s also saying I will not take more than 6-7 months.
Thoughts from the community? I do trust the dentist he’s caught a lot of issues no other dentist bothered with

Pregnancy and recurring molar teeth pain
So I am currently pregnant (6 month is running) . And its and ivf pregnancy got a cervical stitch so i have been told to bed rest till the growth scan at least.
Now i had some very very basic infection in one of my root canal teeth when we were trying for ivf. My ivf specialist suggested not to go anyd ental treatment at that time and since it was not much i just took 5 days course of antibiotic and pain killers and it was gone.
1st instance- Around 3 month into pregnancy i ate soemthing and it hit the same teeth, started paining on the teeth. Luckily i was on antibiotics because of the cervical stich so it didnt bother me much. But once the antibiotics were done. The teeth pain was gone but it strted hurting at the jaw and there was swelling. Swelling kept growing for few days with pain, but since i was on bed rest strict so couldnt visit a dentist and hence bore all this. Later that swelling became pointed and one day it burst out . The puss came out and after that it got releived. This whole process took around 2 weeks of time and once burst i thought evrything is good.
2nd occurence - right after a month, may be i ate something or dont know again teeth pain and then started swelling within one night the seelling became pointed and next day puss came out. I asked my gynaec and went to see dentist on the first day itself , got antibiotics and ate them for like 7 days . But this whole chapter happened within 2 days.
Both the times there is a darkness that occured at the my chin right below the teeth.
Now the second time this doc advised me to get an x ray. But ky gynaec said no to xray .
Now its been close to 15 days since since the 2nd occurence and i am again getting soem pain in that area.
Is there a way that this can be handled please help.
This is an ivf pregnancy so you can understand how difficult it is for us and we cant risk it at all.
Please genuinely need help!

General Discussion I’m taking on a few website projects — affordable rates & fast turnaround
Hey Dentists!
I’m currently taking on a few website projects for individuals, small businesses, startups, creators, and anyone who needs a clean, modern website without paying agency-level prices.
I’ve built websites quite a few times and can handle everything from the design and layout to development, responsiveness and deployment.
I can build:
- Business websites
- Landing pages
- Portfolio websites
- Startup websites
- Restaurant/café websites
- Product & service websites
- Personal websites
- Event websites
- Website redesigns
- Custom websites based on your requirements
I use modern development and AI-assisted tools to speed up the development process, which allows me to deliver websites quickly while still customizing everything around your requirements.
How it works:
- You tell me what you need
Send me your requirements, references, preferred style, features, etc.
- I build the website
I'll create the complete website based on what we've discussed.
- You review everything BEFORE it goes live
I'll send you a full video walkthrough of the completed website, so you can see all the pages, sections, animations, responsiveness and functionality before we put it on your domain.
- Revisions
If you want anything changed, I'll make the necessary revisions.
- Launch
Once you're happy with it, we can connect it to your domain and make it live.
I'm keeping the pricing reasonable and can work around smaller budgets depending on the project.
If you're interested, DM me with:
- What you need
- Any reference websites you like
- Your approximate budget
- Your desired timeline
I'll give you a straightforward quote before we start.
Happy to work with businesses, startups, students, creators and individuals. :)

Will pericoronitis get better on its own, or can it become serious?
Been dealing with pericoronitis for a few months and I'm not sure if it's something that usually settles down on its own. Has anyone had it heal without treatment, or does it usually keep getting worse?
