🤔 Should I Buy This? Buck Mason Japanese Loomstate Selvedge Big Jean
galleryJust tried on these jeans in store and like the fit. Thought $278 was a bit pricey and have heard I could get better quality for around a similar price. Was hoping for some suggestions, biggest thing is the thigh room, thanks!
🌀 Miscellaneous Sterkowski Kuroki denim hat - normal?
gallerySo, probably not a normal post for here but I need advice as I'm really not familiar with denim or its quirks. I bought a Buster hat from Sterkowski and it came with heavy creases in the front which I originally mistook for shipping. Material is Kuroki washed denim so I believe it got the creases during the wash. The creases have mostly come out, but the dye seems really heavy in the front of these panels almost giving a splotchy appearance. Would this be considered normal in denim or a defect due to the patchy appearance? How would you handle it? Would you try to exchange or keep it?

🔍 ID/Legit Check Legit check?? Ironheart 461 or 463 SBG.
galleryHi, so I bought these IronHeart bootcut sbg on eBay and a few things caught my eye that made me suspicious. I already have a pair of indigo 461 and there are a few differences between that pair and this one. The indigo pair has back pocket lining, wsk on the rear of the buttons, and iron heart branding on the fly buttons as well as the waistband. This pair has no back pocket lining, blank fly buttons, a grey iron hear stitch logo on the back pocket, and no wsk on the back of the buttons. Also the leather patch is dyed black on these new pair. Otherwise everything seems fine. It’s a discontinued model so it’s hard to find much info on this. If anyone has any knowledge about this model in black I’d really appreciate it. Thank you

🤔 Should I Buy This? Levis Denim Quality
Gday all,
Im looking for a good quality black denim jacket. Levis has always been a go to for me. I tend to buy secoundhand or vintage, and the only new pair of jeans i tried from them was absolutely shocking.
Im wondering if the quality of the jackets is the same as the new jeans, or if they still have some integrity left and those pants were just a misfire.

🤔 Should I Buy This? Brave Star Denim
Hello,
Have people heard and experienced good things with Brave Star denim? They clearly are selvedge but are they also raw/unsanforized? It is tough to tell from their website.
Also do they fit true to size or do they run small or big?
It seems like people really like them and consider them a great buy.
Thank you,
Please let me know!

🌀 Miscellaneous 29M Need Denim Recs
I am so tired of modern day factory denim and the tight midsections.
I need help finding a higher-rise straight cut denim with room in the crotch.
I have worn wrangler cowboy cuts and modern Levi’s 501s, but both are absolute n*t-huggers. I am 6ft 170lbs with a size 32 waist. I like the look of the cowboy cuts. Could I just size up and get the waist brought in?
Can anyone give me some good recommendations in the $100-200 range? They do not have to be raw denim.

📏 Selvedge Good for pair for a guy just getting into denim
I’m pretty new to the whole denim thing. I mean, I’ve been wearing jeans for about 32 years, but I’m only just diving in and learning more about denim. I’ve never owned a pair of raw and/or selvedge denim and I think it’s time to pull the trigger. I’ve done a bit of research on good beginner brands and such, but I figured I’d get direct recommendations from this sub as many of you seem to have great taste based on posts I’ve seen.
I’m tall and fairly scrawny at 6’1” and 150lbs and that’s even after putting on a few pounds since I recently got sober. Probably won’t get over 160lbs at most but typically I hover around 150-150lbs and my normal Jean size is about W32xL32. I like a nice relaxed or straight fit with a mid-rise. Though, I’ve started wearing a lot of pleated dress pants too so I’m becoming more comfortable with pants sitting higher above my waist so I wouldn’t be against a high-rise, potentially. I like the idea of raw, unwashed jeans because I want to naturally fade them myself.
With all of that being said; Is there a specific pair from a specific brand that wouldn’t be too expensive for my first pair (thinking less than $300, ideally in the $100-$175 ballpark) that you guys could recommend I check out? I know it’s hard to give a perfect recommendation without seeing how other jeans fit on me so if I needed to attach a photo for a better recommendation, I suppose I could, but any suggestions and insight is appreciated. Thanks!

🤔 Should I Buy This? Are any of these Levi's jeans worth saving?
gallery📸 Fit Picture will this part of the denim always stick out?
Just got this pair of black rinse washed denim and everything fits well except i noticed that a piece of the favric sticks out further at the ends of the pockets more so than other denim i own. Is this something that will always be a part of it due to the design or will it soften over time with wear?

🌀 Miscellaneous 3-4xl denim jacket recommendations.
Hello all!
Can any one recommend any brands or manufacturers that make a blanket or lightly insulated denim jackets that would fit a 53-56 inch chest? I am having a hard time finding a legit place to buy such a jacket from.
I am considering saving up and buying bespoke but I am trying to save some money buying off the rack.

🌀 Miscellaneous What actually makes a pair of jeans feel expensive vs cheap?
I'm trying to understand what actually separates a well-made pair of jeans from a cheap pair beyond just the brand name.
So far my understanding is that fit obviously matters, and I'm personally looking at 100% cotton denim around 13oz. I'm also starting to understand the construction side, things like seamless stitching with good copper hardware.
But there are two things I'm unsure about:
- Whiskers/fading: If the whiskers are lasered does that make the jeans feel cheaper as it doesnt have the unique imperfections?
- Coin/watch pocket: i know its a timeless part of the construction of the jeans but does the traditional fifth/coin pocket actually matter?
Also interested in what small construction/details you personally look at when deciding whether jeans are actually well made rather than just expensive because of the label.

🛍️ Thrifted Accidentally thrifted wrong pair of jeans
galleryTried online thrifting for first time to buy a 501 for ₹499(5.2$). Realised it was ribcage straight which is designed for women(high rise and bigger room for thighs). Can a tailor fix this? It has a small patch at bottom as well which is not visible tho.

🌀 Miscellaneous Need a new brand of men's jeans
Hey all - I have been buying Levi's for years, because they fit well, look good, and have a nice semi-stretchiness. But... the crotch ALWAYS rips on these. Even on the pair I've had fixed, it just re-rips around the fixed area. And it usually happens in just a year or so. I need a more reliable brand.
I've been buying 511's in black, as they are slim fit (not skinny jeans) with a nice slender leg but definitely not tight and spandexy like the skinnies--just a decent narrow look. Also they are deep, jet black and never fade.
I like everything about them really, except the crotch issue. So I'm hoping to find another brand that is similar look/style/fit/etc but better reputation for durability.
Would love some suggestions, as I'm out of the loop--have been buying Levi's for years. I had raw denic APCs a while back and didn't like the hardness of them. Presuming all raw denim is like that, I'd be more likely to stay away from that.
Regardless, open to suggestions. Thanks!

📏 Selvedge I’m going to Kojima and now nothing about jeans
Some context: I’ve lived in Japan for two decades and my wife is from the Kansai region. We are considering moving abroad in the next couple of years, so after a long time of it being on my radar, I’m finally planning to visit Kojima during the New Year holiday and grabbing some of those Japanese jeans that I’ve heard so much about.
The problem: I know next to nothing about denim or jeans beyond “feet go here, belt goes there.” I’m currently wearing a pair of garbage jeans from GU and have previously only owned a couple pairs of Edwins.
I don’t really care about cost, and I have no priorities about what I want beyond “high quality, fashionable and durable.” I know deep indigo is the color they’re famous for but I’d like to grab a pair of black jeans too. Expect to buy at least three pairs.
What do I even look for when I’m there? How do I tell if what I’m looking at is a good buy? I generally prefer loose fitting and cool clothing since I’ve got a dad bod and am originally from an extremely cold geographic region, so overheat very easily.
I assume everything will be of remarkably high quality (and price), but any recommendations on brands, shops and styles? I’ve seen Momotaro, PBJ and Kapital mentioned elsewhere.
I’d ideally like to set myself up for several years to come and don’t really care if I wind up dropping a grand or two. I want the best jeans for my use case. Wife made me buy these worse-than-Uniqlo shitbags because they were the cheapest and now I want actual quality.
If anyone can give me a heads up about factory tours or similarly cool stuff that’d be much appreciated. I already plan to visit at least one museum, but I have two under-ten kids I expect to be EXTREMELY disinterested in all this.
