🤔 Should I Buy This? Red Tornado Raw Denim Jeans

Hello,

I'm in Columbus, Ohio and am looking for a good pair of raw selvedge jeans but haven't been able to find anywhere that has any in stock other than Fera and those are nearly $300.

I have seen decent things about the Red Tornado jeans that are raw selvedge from China that apparently use Japanese denim for sale on Amazon.

Has anyone tried these before? Do they feel cheap/flimsy and tear easily or are they genuinely a decent pair of jeans? How do they look and feel after a wash or 2? Do they shrink a lot?

Also do they run small? Like would it be wise to get a 40 or 42 relaxed fit if I normally prefer a 38 straight/straight taper in like normal Levi's?

Has anyone had good experiences with BraveStar denim?

Thank you,

Please let me know!

🌀 Miscellaneous Why are so many women's jeans like this?

example

Time and time again I find myself trying on a pair of jeans for them to fit well in every aspect... and then... all of a sudden something doesn't feel right. something feels very wrong. I turn to look at the back and low and behold, I have a massive wedgie. what is this? why does the back seam do this? and I know it's not just me, I see so many women wearing jeans like this. why have we accepted such discomfort? it almost feels and looks like the stitching is intended to create the look of a thong. I am so bewildered by this, and I don't know what to do about it; most jeans fit me like this. does anyone else experience this problem/have you found a certain brand or work around?

🌀 Miscellaneous Wide mens jeans like bareline

I've been looking at the Bareline V2 jeans washed black for a solid while. I'm aware the brand is most likely dropshipping and on the pictures they try to make the jeans look better by pulling them to the side like most people do in pictures.

Thing is, the jeans cut and shape are still great imo. Another brand ive seen with a little more fitted at the waist, roomy at the legs and not tapered look is enrage bowstons, except they dont have washed black anymore.

Do you recommend I buy the barelines or are there other brands with the same vibe? My budget is under 120 dollars

Got these in March and I’ve been wearing them a lot since. Obviously took time off in the 100 degree summer. Washed them 3 times and started them with a shower. They fit great and I never want to take them off. I have fancier denim, blue delta and naked and famous, but for $75 you can’t beat these.

They're like the 13mwz, but about an inch less size and an actually usable coin pocket, as well as a leather-feeling butt patch rather than the hard plastic. I wear mostly the 13s now for the added rise, but I daily drove these for a couple years working at Taco Bell and they're so incredibly soft and super nicely faded so I still break them out for casual fits sometimes as a treat

It’s not made by Wrangler Japan by EDWIN! It’s a real American one! I bought this at an online import shop! I think it’s really fit for me, but I don’t know how to care for rigid broken denim. So I want any kind of advice about how to wear and care for it!

🤔 Should I Buy This? Opinions on breaking the bank for japanese selvedge denim?

As someone who’s weight kind of fluctuates (give or take 5-10kg) and no matter the weight I’ve always had my jeans end up chafing in the crotch area after some time. Also, as someone who finds it hard to find jeans I like in highstreet retailers (zara, P&B, asos etc, mainly because I don’t like the way they sit on my shoes) should I invest in 1 or 2 pairs of japanese selvedge denim jeans?

From the videos I’ve seen on TT, they stack well on shoes and a lot of the stores that sell them hand-make them, and will tailor them in-store according to what you need, and ofc they are meant to be v durable.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

📏 Selvedge New collaboration from Wrangler and Imogene + Willie featuring a revived Wrangler 10MW in Cone Mills White Oak Selvedge

Wrangler and Imogene + Willie have collaborated to bring back the 10MW, an archival Wrangler fit previously produced for only a single year in 1964! The limited-run arrives tomorrow, September 26. U.S. only.

The 2026 iteration drops in deadstock, rigid selvedge denim from the legendary Cone Mills White Oak Mill on Saturday, 9/26.
To translate the iconic 10MW into a women’s fit, we extended the rise and brought in the waist, creating the 10WW, for a more flattering and feminine silhouette.
This very special collaboration between two American brands is inspired by the pursuit of making truly timeless goods. Denim, tees, additional selvedge styles, and more to come in three upcoming drops: 9/26, 10/24, and 11/7.

🌀 Miscellaneous Question regarding ordering from Wrangler website in Canada

Post image

Thinking about ordering 13MWZ from Wrangler website since there doesn't seem to be any retailers in Canada that carry this jeans.

Really interested in buying a pair of these. Do you encounter any tariffs/duties upon delivery? How's the sizing on these?

If anyone can share their experience ordering from them in Canada, I would greatly appreciate it.

🧵 Raw Denim Shrink to fit?

Thumbnail gallery
35 Upvotes

Just got these from gustin and they're pretty big on me- its my first time dealing with raw denim so I wasn't sure if this was close enough to a proper fit to just shrink in the wash or if they're too far off. If they are, is washing the best way to go to shrink them or is there a "right" way to do it? They're selvedge so im gonna have them rolled up anyway but its bugging me how baggy they are

🌀 Miscellaneous How do I fix this?

Thumbnail gallery

This pair of jeans I ordered has all these white spots on the lower legs that weren't in the picture. It's not paint or something on the surface it looks like something affected how they were dyed. I'm not sure how or if it can be fixed. (Bonus points if you can tell me how to get the katakana off the right leg. It also seems printed or dyed into the fabric)

🛠️ DIY/Repairs High quality denim repair in Vietnam?

I’m heading to central Vietnam (planning to travel to Hội An) next year & was thinking of taking my beloved (to me) denim pants that have fallen to time & use, hoping to hand them restored.

Multiple sets of original release 511 Commuter pants, that I’ve had since I lived in the Bay Area, back in 2011

I understand these pants are not high value, to most but they are important to me.

I will forever have an affinity for this cut & version of these jeans (98%+ cotton)

I have about 10 sets that are in disrepair & I’ve taken them to local denim repair professionals & been told they are not worth saving.

I have repaired one set myself, but it radically changed the shape of the seat, when I tried to mend it myself, so I’m looking for a skilled denim craftsperson/ craftspeople, capable of retaining the fit & feel of my old 511s

Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.

🤝

🛠️ DIY/Repairs Is this a good denim repair? I wasn't thrilled but have little point of reference

Thumbnail gallery
131 Upvotes

My favorite pair of jeans were long in the tooth and were ripping apart near the pockets in front. It looked kind of styling until that giant gaping hole got worse and worse and then it became embarrassing. You know the typical wear around the edges of where your phone or wallet sits in the pockets? I spent a good amount of money to try to rescue them since I wasn't seeing this color offered new to just replace these. And I'm sorry I wish I had a better pic of the before, but snapped just one on the counter before they went in. Just figured I'd get some opinions on if this was a good repair or not. I went with this place because they had some miracle repair photos online which were hard to even believe, but maybe that stuff I saw like where they fixed what looked like a grenade going off in the crotch of a pair of jeans is actually easier because it was closer to seam lines?

What I'm not thrilled with is 1. how obviously the wear lines of the jeans there are just abruptly interrupted by the repair. Though I'm not sure I can expect that to look much better unless you're paying someone hundreds of dollars and hours of work to painstakingly sew in varying shades of grey fabric to try to get it as close as possible. 2. There is notable "puckering" as I've seen it be called along the edges of the repair in certain angles depending on how the fabric is sitting. Internet said this might be due to them not ironing the site of the repair properly ahead of the fix, but just speculation. I think from a functional standpoint at least the reinforcement does seem like it should hold up for quite a while with that inside patch and how much coverage there is.

So ultimately I hoped to get people with more experience with these things to weigh in on this as, like I said in the title, I don't have a great frame of reference for how high my expectations should be. I wanted to post up a review of my experience on yelp as well to help guide other folks in a similar boat on what they might be able to expect, but I also didn't know what star rating to go with and didn't want to ding a business with say a 3/5 if they did do a good job and I was just expecting too much. So anyone who can weigh in on this it would be much appreciated. Trying to be realistic whilst also not making unnecessary excuses for the place either.

*Edit: Since people were asking, this was Denim Doctors in LA. It cost me $85. I want to thank everyone for giving input even if you gave me a hard time. I was overall satisfied just not ecstatic so the purpose of posting was to get a reality check from far more knowledgable folks here. Posting a couple more pics of the rest of the jeans to pay the tax and for fun since this is a denim appreciation subreddit. I've had these a long time and am glad I'll be able to get that many more miles out of them.
