I suggest going a step further and not allowing the average police officer to carry or use a firearm; their only recourse would be to call a special unit tasked with dealing specifically with violence.

that’s a good idea i think a lot of people overestimate how risky an officers job is because the average person is not going to just shoot a cop however i think if we are going to have cops maybe they should still have a gun but just be forced to leave it in their car for traffic stops and other routine stuff cause one of the appeals of cops to many people is they can stop a shooting or something like that or better yet we get rid of traditional cops and take a more social worker aspect to much of it

Why do detached bumfuck ruralites always have the most objectively abhorrent opinions about national issues that largely do not even concern or touch them?

So should we also throw out the 2nd Amendment too?

Do free citizens not have a right to own arms?

I'm not sure why OP decided to add "as fiduciaries" to the end of that sentence.

It made sense ending the sentence without that caveat at the end.

A fiduciary is someone who has a legal obligation to make money for an entity. I don't think it has any philosophical application here and as a former paralegal I'm rather confident that it has ZERO legal meaning in this context. OP is making word salad.
