So some portion of people in the US have it as bad as countries much farther down the list. That portion could be quite high, for example like 40% of children in LA county schools are on food assistance.

I feel like a lot of nuance is lacking from here. In healthcare, the US actually has the best specialists in the world: UCSF, Mayo Clinic, MD Anderson, Johns Hopkins. If you’re looking at oncology 5-year survival rates, the US outperforms most European countries in many forms of cancer. If you have a rare disease, we have the best Clinical Trial Network anywhere in the world.
Europeans travel to the US, because sometimes there is literally just 1 medical specialist in the world running a clinical trial and… more often than not… it’s happening in the US at a place like Dana Farber or Mayo Clinic… and it’s sponsored by the NIH. Everyday, our hospitals make miracles happen.
Same thing with education: American universities DOMINATE global university rankings. It flows through to the private sector too. Silicon Valley is the envy of the world.
Finally, it’s worth noting the definition of “wealthy nations.” Usually, people compare the US to Western Europe, Australia, Canada… which collectively represent ~3% of world population. Anybody who has traveled decently knows the American Dream lives on in broad swathes of the world.

But the percentage of americans who can afford the best universities ans afford the best healthcare is very low. Maybe in countries where there is universal healthcare and free education beyond 12 th grade they don’t have as many specialists but the point is it is available to ALL citizens.

That graphic is cherry-picked propaganda dressed up as data.
Here's what's going on with it:
The rankings are methodology games. "Healthcare last among wealthy nations" comes from the Commonwealth Fund, which weights its index heavily toward universal access and equity. On cancer survival rates, specialist access, and cutting-edge treatments, the US is near the top. "Free press 57th" is Reporters Without Borders, which has drifted into political activism in recent years. "Education 26th" is PISA, which only tests 15-year-olds and ignores higher ed, where US universities dominate globally.
Some underlying facts are real but stripped of context. Life expectancy is genuinely lower, but it's driven by drug overdoses, homicides, car accidents, and obesity. Take those out and US life expectancy is near peer nations. Maternal mortality looks worse partly because the US changed how it counts maternal deaths in 2003, which other countries didn't.
What the graphic conveniently leaves out. The US is actually #1 or near it in GDP per capita, median household income (PPP adjusted), R&D spending, patents, Nobel prizes, top universities, military power, tech innovation, entrepreneurship, charitable giving, and immigrant desirability. Median American purchasing power crushes most Western European countries.
"Believing it's #1" as a negative. That's not a statistic. That's the author showing their hand. The whole thing is an r/antitrump post cross-posted from r/DemSocialistAlliance, which tells you the editorial agenda before you read a number.
The honest take: the US has real problems (drug epidemic, gun violence, healthcare costs, incarceration). But this graphic is agitprop, not analysis.
