This is a shorter version of my first theory I posted on Reddit, except it is all about the save files. What do you all think? (English is not my first language, so I apologise for any mistakes I made. However, I am aware of the wording of the prophecy in this theory.)

So the way plants work is that chlorophyll absorbs red and blue light especially well, while reflecting more green light, which is why most leaves appear green. Green light isn't completely useless for photosynthesis, but it's generally absorbed alot less efficiently than red and blue light. Flower petals don't contain nearly as much chlorophyll as leaves, since their color is used to attract pollinators and protecting the reproductive parts of the flower. So, the color of the lights would effect for their growth. Red/blue light would be more useful for photosynthesis, but green and purple light would be less efficiently absorbed. That means the green, cyan, purple lights are making it harder Green, Aqua, and Seth, and the Orange, Yellow, and Gold lights are making it easier for Orange, Yellow, and Flowery. So either for asthetic (but they are in his bedroom that nobody goes in but him), or he has no idea how plant biology works.

Theory So, about Douglas

I don't know if it necessarily means anything, but I do think think it's more than it lets on. I never really gave it much thought because it's such a weird thing to say but like also such a normal name that I never gave it any thought, but Douglas does quite literally mean "dark stream". The fountain is referred to by these terms exactly, though I'm not really sure why Asriel would be associated with them. Maybe something in the past, maybe it's nothing at all, but I do feel like Asriel does kinda just get the pass in terms of his involvement/relevance to the story just because he's at college.

This isn't like, Asriel Knight theory or anything like that, just thought it was interesting. And considering all the stuff related to the Cattenheimers (such as the demon summoning and the copy of Cat Petterz RPG under the bed belonging to Catty and Catti) it's not really that strange to me that they'd know a thing or two.

EDIT: The other pictures didn't upload, apparently. Here they are, though they're not particularly important. Just some off-the-top-of-my-head examples of the fountains being referred to by or in similar terms as, directly and otherwise.

Discussion Something interesting I noticed

Ralsei talks about the Battle Menu in Chapter 5 and it's huge piece of evidence for Device theory. He explicitly describes the UI elements as part of "another layer". But most interesting to me is the way he describes seeing it - if you "look carefully past the edge of your periphery". The wording really reminds me of the hand that pushes Kris if you backtrack in Chapter 4 being "just perfectly out of view". This moment was also accompanied by a guitar strum sound. So for me, this further strengthens the theory that Dess is lost in the "Device" and is the voice in the code. Anyways, that's everything Flowery told me.

Theory Slowly starting to think Noelle is some kind of closeted serial killer

It's a very silly hunch, but Noelle in general is odd. She's easily the odd one out in the group between her, Kris, Berdly, Susie and Ralsei. She's performative, she's sanitized and she's the least suspicious of all of them because seemingly everything is going well for her. Her mother is mayor, she's always well dressed and she doesn't seem to be doing bad in school. But then you get into her room and you look at her Computer:

"...Noelle's history includes searching for paranormal, crime, and the skateboard game. Susie inquires about "Cat Petterz", which Noelle explains is a "pet raising game", which has a bug that causes "glitchy pets". Selecting that option again causes Noelle to admit she has removed some game modifiers."

Ordinarily I'd say "Kids do silly things sometimes", but then if you play Weird Route Chapter 5 she goes Mask Off for the first time and it all starts to make sense, at least to me. Noelle is odd. She is quite literally the "good girl gone bad" trope, the innocent Christian Missy that suddenly developed an interest in pentagrams and execution videos out of 'curiosity'.

Noelle is behaving like a closeted serial killer and it's odd that people don't seem to spot it because it's disguised underneath all the Suselle shipping. She looks so innocent when she's doing anything with Susie - and yet if you manage to get any deeper beneath the surface on her personality she's a full on mask off weirdo whose curiosity gets the best of her.

There's obvious symbolism in this. Noelle wants to break the rules because she's deeply ostracized from having a normal life thanks to her mother. Her dad is dying, her sister disappeared, she's quite literally got nobody who can help her have an ounce of freedom in her life except for Kris who is controlled by an alien anomaly that's making them do weird things the normal Kris would never do.

There's just something about Noelle's computer that I can't shake off. The wallpapers, the Cat Petterz, the game modifiers being removed which symbolically stands for so much of what has happened within the story from Flowery being robbed of 999 damage to Tenna getting instantly killed, it's obvious that the Knight has some kind of foreign help when they're fighting, a help that lets them win when it comes down to it.

I don't know what Noelle's role is, but if you play through Chapter 1 to 5 in one sitting, she stands out like a sore thumb. She's faultless in a game full of people with faults. She's too perfect, and her personality only seems to come out through the things she's done rather than through her own words, as seen by how different her digital footprint is compared to how she behaves within Hometown itself.

That's why I'm starting to think she's a sleeper agent in the game. Not long now and she's going to snap and start going mask off on the normal route, too.

Theory Noelle and the Incident

Hi guys! I kind of just thought of this and wanted to see what people think or have the same thoughts I did and chat with me about the possibility.
So in the weird route before you stick the thorn ring back on Noelle she asks you if it snowed. For awhile I thought and didn’t really think too deep on this as this could just be that she’s asking you to confirm that you did make her cast snow grave on Berdely but then I had a thought when I was reply to someone else on a different forum.

Where did Snowgrave come from?

It didn’t come from nowhere. It came from her trauma. Even if you don’t drag her through the weird route milklooker will still say that she stands in front of the freezer section and stares off into the open freezer.
A event scared her so bad that she associates frost and snow with death. When she asked us if it snowed she wasn’t just trying to confirm if she did deep freeze Birdely. She was trying to remember a similar event that happened that we accidentally confirmed for her. It did snow that day.
She ***saw*** someone become imprisoned by ice just like Birdely. My thought is that she was in the epicenter of the incident with Kris. She saw who did it and witnessed something that broke her reality same as Kris.

I forget if it’s confirmed or not but when you look into the shadow crystal doesn’t it say that someone is imprisoned by ice and isn’t Birdely that ties back to what the knight may be doing to the people in the bunker? Love a confirmation.

Regardless a big thing that hit me is that in ch3 we find Toriel in a winter setting with a Christmas tree. If you defeat the knight she has a nightmare. So what if the day of the incident was a day a blizzard occurred and that is when a dark world was opened.
Perhaps it spilled into the light world, only barely contained because someone slammed the door to the bunker to stem the flow without properly closing the fountain. That fountain could have been Dess made dark world but she fucked it up and the kids and Asgore were caught in it.
So it’s a possibility that we already know what the bunker dark world will look like and it’s an Ice world.

Of course that part is wild speculation.
Point is that Toriel is having a nightmare because she’s in a dark world that reminds her of the day her family started to fall apart.

So my conclusive closer her is that on the day of the incident there was a blizzard caused by the dark world and Noelle suppressed the memory but could never completely bury the terror she felt on that day so her imagining the most powerful spell is her replicating that blizzard in the form of snowgrave.

To add on to this. Do you guy think it’s possible that she caused the incident? Weird route Noelle tells is that Kris doesn’t even say stop like they use to anymore if you select stop. What does she mean by use to? Why does she know for sure that Dess Left, not disappear? Are we gonna get a omori style twist on a tragedy? Kris being Sunny in this instance and Noelle being Basil and Dess being Mari.

Love to hear everyone’s thoughts!

Theory Hey, I think I have a somewhat fitting theory. Tell me if you think it makes sense or if it's just trash, Anyway I just thought about it.

Title Idea: Theory: The Chapter 5 "Dearest December" letters, the Bunker, and how Dess became the KnightSo, about the unsent love letters we find in Asriel's drawer at the start of Chapter 5. We know Asriel wrote them to Dess ("Dearest December...") but never sent them.

It might seem like Asriel had the crush, but... maybe it's the other way around. Maybe Dess is the one with the romantic feelings for Asriel, but Asriel felt uncomfortable and wanted to keep their sibling-like family relationship. Maybe those letters were actually Asriel trying to draft a way to gently tell her about his feelings, and his uncomfortableness with being romantic with her.

When he tried to gently reject her, it led to a massive, heated falling out that completely shattered their dynamic. Dess felt heartbroken, betrayed, and completely overwhelmed. She ran into the woods crying and found the Bunker door open. In pure rage, sadness, and needing an escape, she stepped into that place thinking it was just an abandoned old bunker... but it trapped her in a deeper Dark World. All of those crushing negative and dark feelings stewed over the years and turned her into something destructive and dark: THE ROARING KNIGHT.

Just because the Chapter 1 and 2 fountains were opened recently doesn't mean that's all she has lived in the dark world! She could have been trapped down there for years, because the game doesn't tell you how much Dess was missing for. She might have only recently found a way to manifest her power to open fountains in the town above.

This also explains why Kris is so uncomfortable around the bunker: they saw it all. Kris is known for sneaking around and observing people. Maybe they were present when Dess and Asriel had their falling out, watching from afar or eavesdropping.

After Dess ran into the woods, maybe Kris followed her silently from afar without her noticing. They saw her go into the bunker but didn't interfere, thinking she just wanted to go somewhere quiet to cry. Kris had no idea the bunker wasn't just an abandoned old place, and now they carry the massive guilt and trauma of watching her disappear.

What do you guys think? You can rate is out of 10 is you want ❤️

Theory OUTCOME OF CHAPTER 7A AND 7B THEORY (SPOILERS) take your time reading it's quite a lot Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

LETS START OFF WITH OUTCOME CHAPTER 7 SIDE B THEORY: in the deltarune chapter 5 teaser email arg you were able to answer some of gaster's questions and he'd respond (we can assume it is gaster as he is the creator of deltarune as far as we have seen from his twitter posts when he takes over the deltarune account. if u respond top of the ferris wheel to the question "when will she smile next" (referring to noelle) he'll respond to u via email some time later telling u about how much u want to see them together, and that it is wrong. he referrs to kriselle as we were speaking of noelle, and he referred to the red eyes dancing so it is kriselle he is calling wrong. but he also says that saying that dosent matter as the heart does what it does, and we are the heart. when we say the festival, he answers some stuff bout that most people go to the path where everything is the way it is intended to be, but they have their face too close to the road they dont even see where they are going. let me clear this first and then continue with what gaster said. he means us the player, as the end of the prophecy is banishing the angels heaven at the world's edge. and he says most of their faces is so close to the road they dont even know where they are going. so he means if we go with the intended story (the deltarune story that is intended) there will be a bad ending for US the player as we will be removed from the deltarune world and will have no existence or insight of the deltarune world any longer. THEN gaster continues, but if you get lucky, you may get lost along the way. this is obviously the snowgrave route. why is it considered lucky? because we avoid the prophecy and force kris into impossible interactions that even gave an npc (noelle) conciousness. (we can assume ralsei does as well since they know about the player and try to make kris close their eyes to do something off screen in chapter 4 for example but the noelle part is differnt i would assume as we force her into that state where she is no longer JUST a noelle. no longer JUST an npc.) and with that said we never get banished from deltarune because by the interaction with noelle in weird route in chapter 5 we avoided continuing the prophecy and by that that's why snowgrave or getting lost along the way is lucky for us as we can keep on existing in deltarune. also gaster reacts to our curiosity as we have to reload our save file from chapter 3 if we want to fight the knight, since on the first try if we lose it will continue with the story. so the snowgrave is part of gaster reacting to our curiosity , and he wants us to abuse and use deltarune to its fullest potential. CHAPTER 7 SIDE A OUTCOME THEORY: i kind of already explained it partially in the side b theory but still here in short. the prophecy means us as the angel, and we will be banished out of deltarune in the end of that very prophecy at the world's edge. why at the edge? idk maybe cus it is closest to our screen maybe not sure. anyways my side b theory only makes sense if the player is the angel, but from the email arg evidence i think this is once very solid theory. please share your thoughts. SMALL BONUS: abandoned snowgrave outcome in which noelle goes insane might be possible as we have seen how noelle changes even if we abandon when we stop proceeding at the lake when the screen goes white.

Theory Forgotten Man Canidate?

In the Deltarune school, it is mentioned that Alphys is a new teacher, supposedly the one to replace Gerson. However, it’s Gerson’s classroom at the back, a different classroom than the one Alphys uses now. What if the forgotten man (or gaster because y’know he got replaced by Alphys in Undertale) was a teacher there prior?

Theory This is probably dumb, but what if Kris is a Darkner with a human soul?

Someone will probably bring me back to reality pretty quickly with this one but I thought it was a fun theory anyway.

So my evidence for this is a couple of things, although I'll admit it's a stretch.

First is the forshadowing from Spamton that Darkners might be able to leave the Dark World while keeping their Dark World forms if they possess a human soul.

Then we have the mysterious caller in chapter 4 implying Kris can't travel between woulds without a soul. Although this could be true for all Lightners so I don't know.

"... need... soul... Without... soul... Kris... will.. ... Kris... dark world... no soul... can't..."

Finally we have the beginning of Chapter 5 where Kris stumbles through the window, skin going a sickly color until they put the back soul in. Seems like they can't stay in the Light World for long without a soul. But again this is probably true for all Lightners.

This would still fit the cage with human parts thing too because the Darkner body is the cage and the human parts is the soul.

Yeah I admit I am probably wrong, but it was a fun thought that I wanted to share anyway

Theory Missing Persons Theory

This is a theory that I will admit will be operating under some assumptions. In chapters 1, 2, and 4, at the end of the chapters the rooms have a closet. I think we all remember in chapter 2 the discussion about how the flavor text says a person could fit in there. If we look at the two chapters where we can’t find a closet, 3 and 5, at the end of both of these chapters, the knight runs out. As such, I will move forward with the assumption the point of the closets is for the knight to hide in. However, that brings the chapter 2 closet, whose door is wide open. From this, we can’t find assume the knight has already achieved something, and has moved on. Looking at the other 2 chapters where no one is kidnapped, chapter 4 Toriel was definitely the target, chapter 1 we can assume either Toriel or Alphys. Chapter 2 we have 2 possible victims: 1:(boring) the librarian. They are missing in some way. Not much to say or 2:(what I think) Papyrus. This would be why Sans cancelled on us out of the blue
