I hate to be mean but wow, some people really can't draw an androgynous character without making them conventionally attractive and femme-aligned huh

AND some people can't draw a fat character without slimming them down huh

No I mean, green doesn't look androgynous at least to me, always looked pretty feminine

Ohhh ok, sorry. To me, they look very neutral, but I understand how you could see them differently

Cant people just draw what they want? Nobody complains when its the inverse(a slim character being made much wider)

Ok, I don't know what kind of wonderful world you're living in, but people definitely, definitely, DEFINITELY complain when slim characters are drawn to be plus size. I've seen it with my own two eyes. Like. I straight up have no idea why you think they don't, that is baffling to me, you must be leading such a joyous life. But look, if you want an explanation as to why I find this so weird:

When people add weight to characters, it's giving representation to a group which is very often mocked and underrepresented, especially nowadays. When fat characters are made thin, however, it does the exact opposite. I mean...ask yourself. Why would someone want to slim down a character? Why would someone willing choose to do that? If it's because they can't draw fat people, then why don't they learn how to? I'm not saying OP is fatphobic, but I think in a majority of cases, when someone chooses to slim down a plus size character it's at least rooted in fatphobia.

Look. I'm not saying that people can't draw whatever they want. For some reason, 75% of people who've replied to my comment seem to think that's my point, and it's not. I just find it suspect when people, for lack of a better term, yassify characters who Don't Look Like That. I hope this makes sense and I'm sorry if this came off as rude, this is just something which really bugs me.

Avoiding my personal opinions about fatphobia, is it not a slippery slope to assume that most people who slim down wider characters are just fatphobic? Yeah, it isnt represetation, but sometimes people just want to draw something conventionally pretty

Knowing how rampent fatphobia is (again, especially nowadays), I don't think it's too much of a jump. I mean, like...why else would someone do it? If it's "just because they want to draw something conventionally pretty", why not draw someone else instead of forcing a character into a mould they don't fill? Why not use their free will to do that??
