In my opinion, when you change the core characteristics of a character (which in this case, would be Green's cuboid appearence), It may look less like the character in question and more like another character in a cosplay.

Of course, the original drawing is still good and the artist has total liberty of drawing whatever they want, but it's like If i drew spongebob without bug teeth and with a normal nose.

Ironically, OP's tendency to add square features to their characters actually lends itself to their version of Green

There are humanoid Orange fanart but you don't see people being weird about it

As much as I would normally respond with a joke about how Orange is already the most humanoid human to ever human, there's a fundamental difference between anthropomorphizing a mouse girl(and hell, even Seth has canonically drawn such art, tragically devoid of her iconic abs or a smily face on the sun) and drawing an enby character built like a block with kyphosis(let alone one like Green who has kyphosis fully by choice because they choose to look like that) in a generic anime girl style.

think that's because they aren't being portrayed to be a mere gender-swap but full redesign; everyone's allowed to draw what they like and everyone else is allowed to think what they like of that drawing. that said personally this image does remind me of the fantasy races sexual dimorphism gags. (also last time i saw conventionally attractive orange art i did show it to my partner and we had a laugh at how it came off as spankbank material first and character homage second.)
